[Stupid] Why is AP cheaper than AD?

I mean, if you think about it, isn't AP an arbitrary stat? Lets say we doubled all sources of AP in the game and halved all values that scaled off of said AP. Would that actually change anything?

Why can't AP cost more or less the same amount as AD with the AP-scaling ratios adjusted so that the balance wouldn't be changed?

Yeah it's a stupid question, I know. Just a showerthought.

AD items all have vastly superior gold to stat efficiency compare to AP items (AP items often need to include the unique passives and actives to be considered gold efficient, AD items are often already gold efficient without including their unique passives and actives).

AD items also have far more diverse actives and passives than AP items.

Also AD is used more than just AD scaling, but also AA'ing. While AP only empowers spells and only boost AA when it comes to hitting turrets.

AD is far more superior than AP. The game has been in an AD meta for eons, not AP meta.

First of all AD increases autoattack dmg, it also increases dmg on abilities that scale off AD (usually higher than scalings on AP abilities). While you get more ap than AD from items the dmg is lower or pretty much the same compared to AD items (except rabadon). Also some of the AD items for assassins come with overloaded amount of effects (duskblade).
