Is Ekko really OP?

Hey guys, just thought I would give this subject my two cents.

I don't think he's OP. Go ahead, downvote me all you want, but at least hear me out.

Everything is counterable in his kit, and almost everything is preventable. You have to play into what he wants in order for him to thrive - which, in dumber terms, means you need experience against him in order to perform better against him.

Now, let me ask you this - how long as Ekko been out? That's right. Four days.

You think that's enough experience, ESPECIALLY when he's banned so often, that instantly gives you the right to say he's OP?

I haven't played Ekko once, by the way, so I'm not anyone trying to keep my main OP for the freelo.

This is the community that called Gnar ridiculously underpowered during his release, guys. The community that called Zed unviable.

Give it time, at least a few weeks, before we nerf him.

After playing this game for about 3 years, I don't need 50 games of experience with a champion to make a judgement.

The only thing that imo deserves a nerf is his ult's damage department. Either AoE range or scalling.

I could see the AoE dropping, I think the scaling should remain the same, simply because the purpose of it (at least in a fight) is to turn around the fight for Ekko, his health goes up while his enemy's drops.

Its important to note that (and this is something I genuinely like about him counterplay wise) his ult will VERY rarely hit you, unless you misplay in some fashion (Either you let the clone get too close to you, or you tried to chase him, which resulted in the clone again, getting too close)

but most of the time its more like "im going to do the zed style get out of jail escape and if you try to finish me off, well im healed and you are busted by a heavy aoe"

its a combat breaker, and it punishes enemies for trying to keep that combat up but i personaly dont find that healthy on an assasin

Well thats just it though, unlike Zed's ult, its either an attack or an escape, never both (simply due to its nature it can't be both, he warps back to wherever his time-clone is, to damage you it has to put him literally right next to you, which prevents him from escaping by virtue of being near you)

I assume thats what you meant, if I was misunderstanding please do correct me.

even at point blank this is a skill that punishes you for trying to kill ekko and as an assasin ekko is suspectible mainly to getting killed fast

when i played vs him i just felt realy confused about what do i need to do vs the guy, because he punishes me for doing the stuff i was supposed to

No. Only thing that needs a nerf is his E. Everything else is hard to hit compared to other champions

I don't think so. I think that the same people complaining about Ekko are the same people that are complaining about Kalista. That is... the people that don't understand how to counterpick/dodge skillshots.

in my experience the only people i've actually seen cry about him are adcs that don't know what a defensive item is and mage mains that think he's also a mage and not an assasin

overpowered, as you said, has clear counterplay. So not entirely.

Overtuned, however, yes. The stun is ridiculously long and somewhat buggy (not showing the ball hit until too late, needs bugfixed or stun time reduced) and his dash covers a little too big a distance.

heavily debatable

on release people called him op and they did it rightfully ekko used his kit nd it was effective to thelevel of op now people get used to it and ekko stops being as strong since his kit leaves room for interaction

so whether ekko is op or not depends on the players who meet on the rift, either ekko will outplay and go op, or he wont and be lackluster

Ekkos is strong Agreed. Not really hard to lane against until MId/late game i find That when fighting him in lane a lot that yes when u get hit with his Q and He uses his E to make sure his Q Hits on return with the auto to proc his passive Can be very Painful and DO some serious Damage Especially on a fed ekko.

His Ult Damage is insane But if u can dodge it and place Ignite on him when he uses it you Literately make the heal on the ult useless and kill him. another thing idk if its a bug or they meant it but When hes out of your vision you cant see his Ult Clone and u could possibly be on top of it on some occasions and not see it. His W (shield) can be easily dodged unless upreared for it Only down side Is There is no Punishment for him not landing it if he misses he can run Into it and get a Shield based of his ap or if he lands it u get stunned for a long time 2-3 sec cant remember and he gets a shield.

Agreed his skill shots are not hard to dodge but when in a team fight it can get annoying if the ekko can sneak past and Just 3 shot your adc and get out in the heat of battle.

Is ekko OP: Yea and no His Damage is insane His ult can be used offensively or defensively and has huge team fight turning ability. but like all assassins catch him out and cc Burst him and hes useless and keep your self at a good distance till you see and opening on him mainly after he uses Q and he should be open to Fight.

this is just my View on Him I could be wrong But this is what i feel Like when fighting him From A (gold 3 prospective)

Honestly i have played ekko about 50 games or so now and come to the conclusion that he is not op. It takes work to get his combos off so yes you should be rewarded for that. Let us not forget our lb's and katarina's who effortlessly demolish anyone in attack radius below 3/4 health. or our fiora's who can easily destroy 4 champs from almost full if no one has cc to stop her. Ekko is no more op than all other carries he is just hard to deal with because he is new, and either way the pbe says they are gonna buff the damage on phase drive. So riot must see the balance in this champ.

i think that riot nerf him alot i mean they didn't nerf just tank ekko they nerfed ap ekko too . And i think that peaple are free to play ap or tank u can't just force them how to play a champ. btw he's op and i love the ekko play stayle
