You got your main champ/otp banned by your teammates on purpose?? I have a solution
Maybe Riot should actually ask the community about this problem (getting the champ you wan't to play disabled(banned, locked in) by your team on purpose, just to hurt your gameplay and piss you off). My suggestion is this: Make it so, there is the first picking phase. The champions are not shown to your teammates, until you pick one, and click "lock in" button, after one player picks a certain champion, other four teammates can't lock in that same champion after him. All five players locked in their desired champions, say they picked the following list of champions. A player playing top lane picked Fiora, a player assigned mid(you) picked Zed, jungler picked Warwick, and support and adc picked Thresh and Lucian. Now the banning phase is starting, and you can see your teammates picks, but not the enemy picks, they are still unknown to you. The banning phase is completely same as it is now, except you can't ban the five champions that are locked in by you and your teammates, but you can still ban all other champions even the ones that your enemies locked in(you still don't know which champions they picked). The banning phase is over, it shows which champions are banned by both teams(ten champions, both teams ban five, as it is now). If there are champions locked in, that in banning phase got banned, they just disappear( like they do now). The whole system after this is completely the same as it is right now. You are the player assigned mid, and Zed got banned by your opponents team. You can now show your new champion you want to play mid to your teammates, but now they can't ban it, but if they are above you in order can still pick it. As I said this part is already live ingame now. This change is not much, as it hits only one champion (suppose it's your main or otp), and you get the protection for that champion only, your next one is gonna be, as it is now, unsafe from your teammates picking it. What this does, is that it protects your main champ being exposed by your teammates, while your enemies can still ban that particular champion, but they can't target you personally(they don't see your nickname in champ select) which is the whole point of this topic. I hope I cleared it for you now, if anything is unclear, feel free to ask.
If you have these two concerns about this change, I give my thoughts on them ahead :
-
It basically does away with a teammate's right to ban a champion they don't want in the game. Yes, it unfortunately "limit" their ban pool, to the whole champion pool minus the five champions.

What if a teammate notices a last pick OP champion that's likely to be picked by the enemy team before your team can pick it (say your team isn't first pick), but they can't ban it because their last pick has it "hovered"/"locked"? Yes, again unfortunately, this system is "risking" those five champions to be locked in by the enemy team before you, but luckily, in the situation where the enemy team has the first pick, and picks the op champion locked by your teammate that is last in order to pick, you have two picks, to potentially lock in one or two champions, your opponents locked in, in the first phase. Personally I find this second concern of yours, not as unfair, as it first appears. Remember, your opponents are banning all op champions that are not picked by their team, and your team does it too, so most likely, "god tier" champions will still get banned, and even if any of them remain unbanned, the picking order makes it so you can pick as many "god tier" champions as your opponent.
