What made me quit League

Playing ranked, champion select, nothing unusual. Showing I'm gonna play Teemo top (I have like 100k mastery on Teemo) and my adc locked in Teemo. After asking "wtf?", he replied with: "I got bugged, wanted to play Garen.". Yes, he wanted to play Garen as adc, and somehow, even though Teemo is like 5 rows under Garen(even if you don't own all the champs), he somehow locked in Teemo. What bothers me the most here is the fact that he won't get punished, not punished, he even won't get warned for the thing he did. Riot is tolerating this kind of behavior and I, most honestly, can't tolerate it. So, I decided quiting League is my only choice here, at least until Riot decides to make some kind of a system, where people in your team won't ban/lock in a champion you wanted to play. Not only that, each time I want to select Teemo, my teammates start with: "Teemo top, gg.", "gg, no tank top, surr 15", "Teemo top, lol, we lost." etc. I have to say I want to play the champ I enjoy playing with, I'm not the meta slave, but it seems this community got so toxic and abusive, that you can't play even when you play "meta" champions. If Riot wants to get the hold of the community again, they need to solve this gigantic problem. The community became so negative and toxic, that you can't play 2 games in a row without someone flaming on you, trolling you, etc, even before the game started. Punishing toxicity in games is a waste of time, as anyone can mute toxic person, but in a pre-game champ select, you can't do anything, you can watch as someone intentionally bans your main, and laughs about it, flames on you because he doesn't like the Champion you want to lock in. I really hope one day this issue gets recognized by someone in Riot, and that they will decide to do something about it. I am thankful for all the games I've had so far, for all the great times and funny moments. It was nice to play League, and I hope one day, it will be again.

If he was above you in pick order, he had every right to pick either Garen or Teemo ADC. Maybe his client did bug, maybe he owns less champions than you, maybe he wanted to go Teemo ADC. You're right that he most likely won't get warned/punished because he was above you in pick order.

You claim to not be the "meta slave", but this whole situation started because you were angry at him for a) wanting to play an off meta champion, b) playing a different off meta champion either on purpose or by accident, and c) picking your champion because he's above you in pick order. Notice how two of the "triggers" for your anger/quitting are the "off meta" things that happened.

It is impossible to "troll" the game before it starts. It is possible to be verbally abusive and/or harass your teammate in champion selection, and they can express intent to troll, but they haven't actually trolled until the game itself starts. This is really just semantics, but it boils down to that the vast majority of punishments issued for lobby/champion select behavior will be for chat offenses as there's simply no gameplay to punish a gameplay offense for yet.

If someone is laughing at banning your champion, they can be punished for negative attitude, verbal abuse, and/or harassment. However, considering they're permitted to ban your champion if they want to, for whatever reason, they won't get punished "more" for that. Riot certainly does punish for pre-game lobby behavior, however as of right now the only way to report it is in a support ticket. Further, screenshots would help, as I believe I read somewhere that the pre-game lobby chat is only fully recorded if a game starts from it. But I may be wrong there.

I can understand you not liking the game's core mechanics (banning, pick order, etc). However, that does not mean there is a fundamental problem with the system as you try to claim there is. I'm not a huge fan of CS:GO because of how the matches are decided. That doesn't mean there's a problem with CS:GO, it just means that CS:GO isn't the game for me. Maybe League isn't the game for you if you're unwilling to accept and play with the core game mechanics like that.

Best of luck to you in whatever you decide to do.

I think Chermog is a bit harsh here, the person was quite probably trolling you. It's unfortunate, but it's hard to police. Afterall, he might have actually wanted to play Teemo and it is his right.

The correct choice here was to ask to trade, not assume, and if they were trolling you, force them to play Teemo adc and suffer the horrible lack of range. Granted, they could have said Garen to make you play Garen top.

You don't actually know what their situation is unless they say it out loud and there isn't much to do about it. It's a shitbird thing for someone to do. I agree. But there's really nothing to do about it. The reverse could be true and someone could lock in a pick before bans to screw someone else out of a pick.

This is just one of those times where people can be dicks and it sucks, but that's just how it is going to be in any MOBA like this.

Why didn't you pick Garen and trade? Even though he is trolling.

Glitches do happen. One time when I was in champ select, a teammate wanted to play Ahri but when it was his/her turn to pick, I tried to change my champ declaration fromNamitheSoraka. Then, the selection glitched on him/her and locked in Soraka instead of Ahri. I should have locked in Ahri myself, then traded with him/her, but I didn't think about it because I was caught up in what seemed to be my mistake. In the end, my team surrendered.

Well, so long then. I firmly believe that the system you want would lead to far worse trolling in champion select, with people queuing up as "support" for the fast queue times, hovering what's OP so your team can't ban it while forcing someone to trade roles with them.

What's more likely to happen is them giving Teemo a mini rework so he isn't so poorly thought of.
