These are actual examples of matchmaking I've had this week.

Is it supposed to be this way or is it because everyone is doing placements still?

Its Norms.... Its not like its impossible to win games or everyone is flaming, but when your jg is the silver and their jg is platinum thats pretty fucked up.

Idk how anyone is actually supposed to practice solo with such crazy distribution. I feel bad for the people below my rank getting smashed by people higher elo than them and I get frustrated when on the other hand coordinating feels like pulling teeth.

Normal MMR has nothing to do with ranked MMR. It's probably all the people still waiting for the early season chaos to settle down. They are playing norms to pass the time which maybe they don't normally play so their MMR is drastically diff than their ranked. Also there are lots of premades with a variety of ranked ranks in them.
