maybe people say it because it was preseason until recently, they are using preseason to try stuff out and get other champs and builds working in ranked. While someone is playing meta champ with meta runes playing extremely hard. Another thing i see is when someone is smurfing, they say they are smurfing i had 1 in my game yesterday. He said he was a plat player in my silver game. He was playing master yi and playing very calculated baiting off his team. He got 2 penta kills and finished the game 29-1. I said to him why are you tryharding on yi when you're a smurf? lol

Well the answer is simple. Just because it's preseason doesn't mean people don't want to get better or test themselves when they play ranked. After all, there are normals for the sort of testing you are referring to.

no normals are a completely different enviroment to ranked, people don't try to win they play whatever and give up easily/ ff easily because you lose nothing.

The point of a competitive game is to win. Using "try-hard" as an insult is an insult to the person using it. Basically they are saying they cannot beat you so they would rather attack you instead. It is amusing how bad people are and worse, how bad they are at insulting people. :D [slayer-jinx-wink]

well there is if your a try hard and didnt give them a slight chance they would be somewhat right how it wouldnt be fair on their end.

"Fair?" Trying to win is not unfair. The enemy team does it, no matter how much they cry out that they are not. If they are not, they are playing the wrong game. Trying to win a game that is about winning is not unfair. It is the way the game is played.

well if you outskill him in such a way where they are a massive noob you can spare them once or twice as a good sport would do. btw i didnt say this was ranked thats what makes try harding bad/toxic thing.

it's actually better to just offer advice. Any time you go easier on your opponent, they will find an opportunity to beat you with that moment of charity

Welcome to competitive play. Why would I give my enemy a chance, thus decreasing my own chance of winning, if I have the option not to?

xDogMeatx1 votes

if you spare them if it isnt ranked why is that wrong to do so? assuming where they are so far behind where no amount of skill is gonna bounce them back.

Weiss Guertena1 votes

But it's specifically ranked play that is being discussed here. And ranked is tryhard mode where every advantage should be exploited. One situation that often comes in mind is a DC'd opponent. If it's normal I won't attack them. But if it's ranked? You went into a tryhard mode with shitty connection; your loss, my gain.

Only appropriate when a Darius with summoner 14 & summoner 6 takes conquerer top and starts item 1036 item 2031 . Must spam https://www.boostroyal.com/assets/images/mastery-tiers/7.png and call you a bussy when you summoner 4 away

jk yes.

You do not have to tryhard in ranked its just a game right? Was having this debate on my post, whether you deserve a report for not trying to win. I played a game and I didnt give a fuck, i just kept the score okay and joined teamfights and ofcourse lost. Did I get reported? No since there was no sign of me not giving a fuck in game.

try hard in normals isn't any better lol

try soft? you mean inting?

It triggers me when they do it in normal games too. Like are we supposed to run it down mid with item 3070 item 3070 item 3070 item 3070 item 3070 item 3070 summoner 1 summoner 6

Too much to respond to. The key thing is, no matter what the reason, going "lenient" on someone does not improve their skill or effort in the game. I never want someone to go easy on me in a competition. Doing so makes you worse at the game, not better. Competitions are there to be won. Not handed to you as a participation trophy. You get those when you are in pre-school or something, not in a competitive game or sport or anything else.
