If your last pick and called mid don't expect to get mid. Pick not just what you want to play but also what your team needs in order to win. The more you cooperate with your team the better you are to succeed. So please don't be selfish and just be considerate to your teammates.
Volt Cruelerz8 votesLet's take a game I played today as an example. I'm top of pick order and request mid, then person at bottom of pick order requests mid. Turns out we're both mid mains but he's comfortable on anything but support whereas I am more focused on mid. I go mid, he goes top. Now, if we wouldn't have had a support main in the lobby, I would have happily switched over to support (my second most played role) and let him go mid. Pick order is irrelevant. Working together with your team to make the best use of everyone's abilities is the only thing that actually matters.

Vicious Eno1 votesMost people don't realize that pick order isn't in place to screw over a teammate, its there so you can counter pick the other team. Yes pick order gives you the power to do that, but if you want to play mid and someone else called it first that should be respected, its cooperating with your team which can help in the overall success of your performance as a team. After all, you cant win a game by yourself.

Pick order is dumb. Give everybody what they are their very best at .(Yes. i know. "you should be able to play all roles" but dont act like you aren't better with a few champions or lanes over every single other champion) Everybody playing what they main works a lot better than when you force somebody to play a champion they aren't familiar with to counter the enemy or be the tank the team needs.
You ever see anybody make Faker play healer or tank?

Sinister Anubis1 votesRiot took a stance on pick order because the community wanted to know. This is what riot said maybe not in so many words but here it is
"During rank games in champion selection we stand by pick order as a last resort. We still want you guys to try and communicate and call your roles and work it out as a team. but if at any given point that things can not be worked out fall back to pick order. This is just a base line rule we still want you guys to call your roles and form strategies."
