Riot can you just admit the changes you done to Teemo did more harm than good?

I'm sure your all aware of the so called "buff" to Teemo a while back where it changed his ultimate duration from 10 mins to 5 mins and how they added a throw mechanic in there as well. Riot told us that the changes done to Teemo that patch was a buff but in reality it was a nerf his winrate declining since the change is evidence of this. Riot even goes far as to call it a buff in the patch notes and even Riot Phreak tries to convince us its a buff when it was clearly not. If you could all put your Teemo hate aside and realize on how unfair it is to us people who love to play our champion than you would realize how much we care for our little devil just like many of you people have cared for your beloved champions. His ultimate which is a core part of Teemo's identity has been gutted for no reason. He wasn't popular, he wasn't played at all really in pro play, he wasn't overpowered, and can definitely assure you he wasn't weak before the nerfs. Please Riot just revert them no Teemo player ask for the throwing shrooms they were neat at first but all for the sake of adding a gimmick that you have to nerf him is unfair. Some of you might be thinking well 10 minutes is quite a long time so whats the big deal? The big deal is that Teemo's identity is the swift scout he uses his shrooms as ways of gathering information and playing around the enemy to gain advantages for his team. Now with these changes its extremely hard to do control anything as a Teemo player there is already enough counterplay to his shrooms from pinks to sweepers now with a 5 min duration which is incredibly short for Teemo. Please don't leave him in the gutter like he is now. Playing Teemo now is not fun anymore ever since his nerfs. Please just change him back or at least buff him in some way for him to have a fighting chance against others because now I don't see any reason in playing him anymore and its such a shame since he was first champion I loved playing when I started league.

Two very big nerfs:

  1. Duration cut in half
  2. Charge time of shrooms increased. Now when I'm dueling the enemy can walk away before the shrooms detonate...how am I suppose to 1v1 now?

I mean, your shrooms aren't supposed to be bombs you just throw out,l. They are supposed to be strategic, like shaco boxes

Im not an expert but from my experience, Teemo isn't the best duelist. His blind just barely allows to come out on top of others. Move Quick isn't the mobility it used to be so he even struggles kiting these days. Unless the person he is fighting is a Melee range, more ally immobile champion, Teemo is going to have a tough time.

His largest strength was his mushrooms providing a strong map presence and that was severely hurt by the reduced duration.

Everything you've said is true and actually, Riot did admit in a recent patch that it was a nerf. However, Riot is nothing if not stubborn. They hate certain champions and will never buff them or revert nerfs to them. That includes Sona, Taric and yes, Teemo. When Sweepers were first added, they gutted the scaling on his shrooms by an entire 30% AP. Even now over a year and half since then, they've still yet to return some scaling back to them and then they hit us with a duration buff of a full 5 minutes when he's still struggling from the previous nerf, despite being so long ago. It's disgusting and completely expected from Rito. I've already trained myself into the mindset that every change they make is for the worse of the game. Positive changes by Rito's "Balance" team are so few and far between, they appear to never exist at all.

wasn't that 30% ratio on R cause of Liandry's?

I'm not 100% sure, but I remember something like "we had to nerf teemo cause Liandry gives too much synergy"..

they nerfed shrooms specifically because of

  1. Pink ward nerf
  2. Removal of oracle elixir As they wanted to nerf vision overall and make it so it's not as snowbally as it used to be. When enemy jungler just gets oracle, gets tanky enough and never dies and wards enemy jungle with pinks so the vision gets cleared without much counterplay other than investing into pinks and getting further behind as the enemy team can just walk into your jungle being protected by pinks and neverending oracle. So they thought that they need to nerf shrooms as they will be op without invisible pinks and neverending oracle.

Riot tried to buff him by giving him more teamfight presence with the throw shroom mechanic. It doesn't seem like it worked.

The problem could also be that Teemo mains aren't changing their playstyle according to the gimmick of his new ultimate.

I am also trying to get Riot attention regarding Teemo here :

http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/trNaY086-riotrepertoir-any-updates-on-teemo

Teemo identity is pretty much dead. His only reason to be picked was the mushrooms. Now that it was cut in half, why pick him over Gnar?

Would be nice if Riot updated us on him, but sadly, like any Teemo posts, it got ignored...

I personally like the idea of throwing mushrooms (sometimes over walls), but I just hate the fact that when you throw it in your opponent's face, they can just walk away.

To be honest, I am new and I don't know how he was with 10min duration, but I feel like I am required to plant the mushrooms on map more often than roaming for ganks/fighting. So basically, I am either encouraged to set up ambushes or "ward" 1/4 of the map constantly.

Right now he seems like a champ who relies on teammates to lure enemies into his traps or to his stealthed position, so he can make use of his passive.

I once read a suggestion on the Board to make his passive his ultimate that can be toggled and make his DoT attack his passive turning mushrooms into his E.

I think this is a fantastic idea that would make him a true scout.

I'd like to add to that suggestion to make his mushrooms more of a utility rather than a Techies' doom corner. Make it explode instantly when thrown near enemies and reduce its damage and cost (keep the ammo characteristic though). The reason I think this would be a good change is that he has no good way to kite/chase enemies. His speed boost is completely negated with a single slow, and with all the instant-mobility champs around, it will allow him to get away from trouble faster or be more sticky.

To be honest though, just making the shroom explode in Lee Sin's face instantly after the throw is enough for me.

There has not been enough counterplay to his shrooms since Oracle of Elixir and the gold return on farming the things was removed, short of the numbers being too low on it.

That being said I can agree with the rest of what you've said, but the only practical solution to it is to revert his entire state to Season 2 which brings back more problems than it solves.

Chespin20132 votes

I don't want him back to his state in s2 I just want him in the state he was recently before the shroom throwing mechanic because IMO he was fine.

Hugify2 votes

His numbers just keeps getting smaller.

But how do you ask for Teemo buffs without looking like an anarchist,I wonder.

No

Good

Marthian1 votes

Teemo needs a new kit, one that doesn't involve invisible mushrooms and being stupidly good at split pushing.

CasterGilgamesh4 votes

there are a lot better split pushers

Marthian1 votes

Never said he was the best, but he is still very problematic when he does: Able to "ward" the surrounding area and see incoming threats, a move speed boost to run away, and a click blind if someone gets too close (If you can't function without the blind, then you need someone else to help. He might just also turn around and kill you too.)

I hate having a teemo in my games, on either side, but I just can't understand the purpose of having him throw the shrooms, but still requiring them to arm before exploding.

What was the actual point of this mechanic?

Saianna1 votes

Riot has nerfed sooo many champions while saying "buff"...

I don't rhink tehy will ever, EVER try to fix their wrongdoings.

Best part is: it's second Teemo nerf in a row where he lost alot of power. In first Teemo has been nerfed because of possibility of building Liandry's torment. Riot nerfed his R by 0.3 AP ratio.@ After that he HAD to buy it just to get slightly less damage than before nerf.

And now? Riot doesn't even try to balance stuff. And don't forget to buff Lee for Worlds in next year! He sure will need 'em... (aholes)..

@ If Riot did the same thing to Lee then we'd have uber shitstorm on reddit followed by 50 compensation buffs on the next day.

delonix1 votes

Didn't they also change his passive recently? If I recall correctly, that was a buff.

Chespin20132 votes

that was the only buff that came out of it. They nerf his shrooms by cutting the duration, giving it a arm cap, removing vision granted from it, and if I recall also the slow from it aswell. The new Teemo feels like a sitting duck now in teamfights when he is trying to throw a shroom because the delay is putting him a vulnerable position seeing as he is short range.

delonix1 votes

Woah, I missed a bunch of this. When did this happen? I can't find anything about the mushrooms not giving vision or slowing anymore.

Nichiyoubi1 votes

because he's not right

Chespin20131 votes

Actually ignore what I said about not slowing anymore I forgot it still did my bad there but more or less everything else is I said about the nerfs is correct. I don't want a champion I liked to be nerfed all for the sake of a new minigame riot wants to put on every champion and than have that minigame being called a buff but in actuality its not.

The mindlessness of this post is amazing... HOWEVER it does raise a good point we should remove the throw mechanic and make the shrooms last 3 minutes and it have a recharge rate of when teemo bases he gets 3 fresh shrooms and has a lane recharge rate of plus 1 every 3 minutes rank 1, 2 minutes rank 2 and 1 minute rank 3. next up remove the damage it does and replace it with a larger sight area like that of a ward plus when it pops give the target googly eyes that can reveal invisible champions. Have the shrooms counts against his ward limit as well not an upper limit on the shrooms mind you he just cant frelling ward if he has three out is all.

If vision is a massive part of what they want to limit they need to either remove this rat or make these changes cause as he is now he can still flood the rift/TT/aram with free vision. Aram is kinda pointless but I will admit that a deep placed unpopped teemo shroom has helped me guide my ashe arrow for free kills so many times.

It already does no damage and now you want to weaken it further? You truly don't understand teemo. Without his ult doing damage as well as warding with it he can't dual or participate in team fights. Learn how champions work before critiquing them. If they went with your option they should also add 200 units to his range and increase his E ratio to 60-80% of his ap. All because you stripped him down to 2 damaging abilities one of which is a passive on his aa's.

I've played Teemo well over 2,000 games. I play him in all lanes including jungle and support and reached Gold 4 doing it.

Ever since the rework of vision, when Teemo became OP and Riot halved his shrooms damage it has gotten so much harder for Teemo players.

I didn't care that Teemo had his shroom damage reduced, I cared that Riot didn't make up for the loss in his 1v1 ability because of it. Teemo uses shrooms in 1v1 fights and the damage reduction significantly nerfed his ability to survive 1v1 fights.

Riot has been extremely short sighted with regards to Teemo and I genuinely for the first time ever have begun to find much less enjoyment when I play Teemo because he is now simply so weak in just about everything he does.
