Possible AFK solution...

So preseason I have been in a lot of games that have had summoners either DC'ing or afk'ing a lot. In ranked.

I have a possible solution:

Why not make it so that if a /ff gets put up for vote, and it "succeeds" with a 2/1 or 3/1 vote, that the losing team gets a loss prevented. The team that had someone afk or dc shouldn't be punished because of one guy/girl. Let them play 20 mins, and if the person is still afk or dc'ing...throw up the vote.

This solves 2 things in one shot. It makes the loss less painful to swallow, AND it promotes the use of the /ff vote in a positive way, actually making it reasonable to /ff in a ranked match.

Currently, from my experience, in ranked....no one wants to /ff other than that one rager fizz mid that got ganked and now won't be able to go 23/0/0. Now, if it is a full game, and the vote passes with 4/1 or 5/0 vote, it continues as it does not. meaning the team just wanted to save time and not go through with it and they were getting stomped. But only in a 4 man vote, if it passes, it should result in the losing team getting a loss prevented.

Thoughts?

And yes, I know I am bronze 2. and a noob. and whatever else is going to get flamed here. But I am actually a positive player and love playing this game and am always looking for improvements to the unfortunate afk's/dc's that happen.

There were thoughts being passed around to have a mercy vote by the winning team if the other team has an afk. I personally like this option more since the majority of people won't give mercy. It is very unfair for teams to have AFK's, not only does it ruin the game your in, it ruins your mood.

It shouldn't matter than you're bronze, everyone is entitled to a fair game.

Either way you slice it, any system "could" be abused, but after MANY iterations of "possible solutions" that I have thought of the last year or so, this one seems to be the best and LEAST likely to be abused. It allows a 90% "better gaming experience" per game if there was an afk'er. Which is what I think Riot strives for.

The current stats on an AFK'er game would be 50% pissed off/50% idgaf because I won.

I'd also like to add that I am talking about the afk'er/dc'er on BOTH sides I have seen. I don't feel like I played a good game when the other has a DC'd jungler or something. just very unfair. I wouldn't mind at ALL if they got a loss prevented. Cause we all have been there. lol

And like Lucky said, if someone felt pressured into afk'ing, maybe there is a separate report option about being bullied. and then Rito can take a look at the chat log and see what actually happened.

or like lucky said again. only available in solo queue. that would solve it too.

it seems like a lot of pressure to completely rely on the system to take care of these abusers

you have this much faith in Riot's programming that they'll catch everyone who does this? or that the community will always report abusers faithfully, despite the fact that many people will be benefiting from this and the opposing team will not lose anything for it?

RIOT!!! Comment in here! I would love to see your pro's/con's of this possible solution!!!

And the "time spent" by riot to implement this code would not be that hard.

Code:

If Total player blue side <5 allow loss prevention if /ff is successful If not < 5 then stay normal

If Total player purple side <5 allow loss prevention if /ff is successful If not < 5 then stay normal

Excuse my horrible coding talk for I only took one class of it years ago and I forgot how.

Most of time there's an afk it's because you were losing in the first place... maybe if they never connected in the first place.

Case and point: http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1653970316/286069?tab=overview

JUST got out of a game where we were winning...I was 8-0 at one point, them BOOM, our Jungle Hecarim and ADC Caitlyn both leave at the same time (presumably a duo) and NEVER come back. We tried to play it out, but they just had too much. Come to find out they were also down their Lux support. so it was a 3v4. and we went from a win to a loss just like that.

Perfect example. I could not have planned that any better....ugh. elo hell

I'm not fan of AFKs either, but I'm gonna play devil's advocate Here's my knee jerk reaction to what I see here:

Example of abuse-

Lets say thresh support is 0-5-0. The team as a whole is clearly losing and has a very small chance of winning the game at this point. As a group, they blame thresh. They bully him with phrases such as "leave game so we can FF and not lose LP because of your sorry ass"

Lets say thresh does leave the game. Did those other 4 players deserve the loss prevented? Maybe they were getting outplayed themselves and thresh was only one part of the reason they were losing. I'd say that's highly likely. And if thresh doesn't leave the game? His team continues to bully him for no reason other than the fact that he's having a bad game, or day.
