Can we please all agree that saying "ggez" at the end SHOULD be suspension worthy??

OmManiPadmeHum·7/1/2018, 4:35:32 AM·18 votes·6,223 views

There is a reason saying "ggez" hits the tilt-nerves of everyone. Because its called being a poor sportsman. It's negative attitude. How is this NOT suspension worthy yet? I even have people say they say it every game.

Can someone explain to me out Riot's algorithms can't easily spot the person saying that and just auto-ban for like 24 hours. That way people can be polite and using the same or LESS letters say something more appropriate like:

  1. ggwp or
  2. gg

No, seriously, stop crying, this is a competetive video game not an offical soccer match.

If a person is an asshole report him and he will get chat restricted if he is constantly toxic.

What next? Ban the winning team for saying GG when they stomped because it wasnt a good game?

Edit: for people downvoting me and getting the wrong idea, im not saying GG EZ isnt annoying to read when you're losing, but "can we suspend anyone who says it automaticlly" is such an overblown reaction it makes OP seem immature.

Suspension right on the bat? Nope.

Chat restriction after a couple of uses that stacks up if the player goes on? Yes.

Suspension if this behavior keeps going? Maybe yes.

Chermorg7/1/2018, 5:00:10 AM7 votes

The algorithms can detect it.

Riot does not "auto ban" many things, only the most extreme toxicity. If someone simply says "ggez" but was sportsmanlike the rest of the game, that player is about a 2 on a 1-10 toxicity scale (where 1 is perfectly okay and 10 is worst toxicity possible). It makes no sense to auto ban someone for that, because if it's said, it's negative, but it's not like many people try to be negative with it.

At the same time, "ggez" does factor into players' account standing and honor progress (if reported for it).

Just report them for it and put in the comment section of the report that they exhibited poor sportsmanship/toxicity "ggez"

Eleshakai7/1/2018, 3:19:58 PM6 votes

Yes, it's wrong and should be reported. No it shouldn't bypass the repo rt system and result in automatic punishment.

Hocker7/1/2018, 3:07:16 PM5 votes

Only reason people are down-voting this is because of your lazy description of how saying "ggez" should have a path to punishment. I gave it an up vote, because I agree completely that its use is unsportsmanlike.

cant just jump to a suspension with it though. It's got to be realistic at first. Start with a chat ban or two... THEN you move to a short term suspension.

nothing anyone says should be suspension worthy people are just being snowflakes. they're just words.

Goldilux7/2/2018, 4:54:02 AM3 votes

No. This just shows who isn't sportsmanlike. It's not ban worthy.

If they spam it, then have them get punished for spamming. Not for saying ggez.

Going to be That Guy; Overwatch implemented a mechanism that switched 'gg ez' into randomised phrases, such as "Good game!" or even, "I feel very, very small... please hold me..." Which I personally find hilarious on every occasion it happens. Perhaps this would function as a good compromise between those who believe the phrase is ban-worthy and those who believe It's Just The Internet, After All. [sg-lulu]

No. People being salty or BM is different from verbally abusive.

If it bothers you mute all chat in options.

Caseyo7/1/2018, 4:50:25 AM2 votes

It's annoying and seems to be popular amongst the immature but I don't think it's suspension worthy. I personally will never use it but I will say I enjoy seeing them use it whilst their nexus blows up and their team got demolished, just makes them come of as in-denial

iAmTheBanned11/7/2019, 1:27:51 PM1 votes

You should stop being a bitch about it and get good. No reason ANYTHING anyone says should be ban worthy. You're on the internet, get over it. NOTHING said/done has any negative effect, save what you give it. Stop listening to trolls and just play the game, cry baby.

It is suspension worthy if enough of them add up. Keep in mind only major offenses get the ban hammer first time. And GGEZ is far from a major offense.

Not if you lose.

NA Omega7/1/2018, 1:44:17 PM1 votes

I don't think it should be reportable.. i don't understand why you are not allowed to get into the heads of opponents. When I solo kill my lane opponent.. I want to say "ur bad" in true kid style.. to tilt them.. I WANT to tilt them.. I want them to be off their game mentally so they make more mistakes. Why is this bad in a competitive game?

Xidphel7/1/2018, 2:19:02 PM1 votes

No.

Vonyalo7/1/2018, 6:22:52 PM1 votes

It should be, but riot decided not to ban kids. They are still young and stupid, you know. If only punishment system wasn't shit we could give 2 games chat restriction every time, but sorry...

Summonah123697/1/2018, 10:40:44 PM1 votes

No mom it's the internet.

OmManiPadmeHum7/2/2018, 7:38:53 PM1 votes

so then ban me for saying "24 hours".. lol. Someone saying "ggez" over and over and even admitting they are doing it every game should warrant a penalty.

If you tried harder then your games won't be as easy for your opponent. Have you thought of that?

Also, with how horrible matchmaking is this season, a lot of games are simply disgusting stomps. Easy games, some might say

afmghost7/4/2018, 10:42:58 PM1 votes

Ggez won't get you in trouble if said occassionally, but it will haunt you if used frequently or with other toxic behaviors.

Cobey7/10/2018, 10:45:24 PM1 votes

I don't know why this has so many downvotes. I think we can agree that internet toxicity is a big issue, people have committed suicide over it, and now there are articles that have studied the psychological effects of anonymous internet toxicity. This is not a good thing, and it's affecting an entire generation of kids now who think stuff like this is the norm.

If the video game companies do not take a harder stance on this, nobody else really can. And you may not think this is an issue right now, but little by little we will start seeing much bigger consequences from this.

Hyquiem7/10/2018, 10:46:48 PM1 votes

Why does it hurt you Xd, it’s just GG E Z. It rhymes, plus it’s not toxic, it’s more of a confinement term of what a simple game.
