They're boring and expensive, but if you don't buy them (LOTS of them), you're at an automatic disadvantage in any game you play. Runes are an absolutely horrible, pay-to-win mechanic and they need to leave, as soon as possible. Rito pls I beg of you. Remove fucking runes.

Like how Tier 2 runes are practically free and give you a guesstimated 98% strength of the same champion packing Tier 3 runes.
Or how your lack of skill, knowledge and experience are far greater detractors than a measly 2-3 damage, and will be leveraged against you far more often if Rito opens the floodgates for banned players and/or smurfs to run you over with impunity because they won't be bothered with any sort of meaningful grind mechanism in place.
