Is Cho'Gath really balanced?

Or should I say, Is Cho'Gath's kit not toxic? Sure, landing his Q can be hard if the enemy is mobile, but simply silencing for 3 seconds first makes his Q quite easy to hit actually. He doesn't have a weak laning phase, as any harass the enemy throws at him is easily healed off with his passive. His ult is a true damage nuke or a low CD farm mechanic that can give you around 1k bonus health. His E helps him play passively and farm under tower Cho also can simply one shot (or for you technical people out there, 3 shot with the enemy having no ability to do anything) any squishy on your team with just one damage item and four tank items.

0 mobility

reliant on a skillshot to ever hope to close the gap

Yeah sorry bud you got stomped by a perfectly balanced champ. I'll take him over Freeeeee winga any day.

-Easy to miss skill shot

-70% melee champion with no gap closer

-Relies on said easy to miss skill shot to get in range to use ult/E toggle

-Furthermore, his base speed is atrocious.

-Large frame, making him take tonnes of attacks

-Relies on feast to keep him tanky....and yet will always lose them after he faces an inevitable death

-Has to blow his ult in order to remain tanky

So no. He's no OP. Actually, I'd rather see him get either reworked or buffed imo.

Cho is much stronger than people give him credit for. Strong, safe laning phase. Pretty good damage + CC. Beefy.

He is just terribly vulnerable versus mobile ranged champs come late game. Horribly vulnerable.

Overall a pretty balanced champ.

Seriously now a QQ thread about cho @@ poor old Chogath

BastionKross2/10/2015, 3:11:51 PM3 votes

If Chogath ever gets close to you to ult and use his E, it's because he landed his Q on you. If Chogath landed his Q on you, you either got chain CC'd with one of his teammates or you just plain screwed up somewhere. He's got no mobility to speak of, and all of his movement impairing CC is on one of the most telegraphed skillshots in the game. His combo is lockdown heavy and devastating, but it's difficult for him to start it. Even his silence can be difficult to hit because it has a long wind up animation before the actual effect takes place.

So while he's got some powerful moves, they're balanced out by making them difficult to land on skilled opponents. There's a reason why we don't see Cho played by (m)any pros in tourneys.

Nerf Irelia...no seriously this time.

We don't have the burden of proof to explain why he isn't toxic. You are obligated to make your case, and your use of the word "Toxic," to describe him makes seem almost as though you assume it's a given, when I'd say a mass majority of people would disagree with you, myself among them.

Itemizing his abilities isn't explaining it, before you pull that one.

i think his AP ratios are a little too high for his intended role. 100% AP scaling on a knock-up + slow with 305 base damage is pretty high.

Hey OP, Season 1 called.

Also, posting in a lvl 14 profile thread.

Powerful? YES. Overpowered? NO. Not in the current meta, as he is the only champion that can work within the current meta that isn't part of it. Toxic? DEFIANTLY NOT! Toxic champs don't really have counters. Cho'Gath's counter is truly mobility. Boots really help dodging his Q, which is integral. Basically, kiting him is THE counter to him.

Blue Collar Bear2/10/2015, 5:11:59 PM1 votes

He has a strong laning phase, and he fits well into a lot of team compositions.

However, he does have a lot of counter play. Every one of his abilities is telegraphed before it lands. It's not as if everything is an instant burst. It is also easy to punish him for missing his skill shots, as he has fairly long cooldowns.

To me, he seems pretty balanced. There are worse offenders.

I used to think Cho was strong in lane vs anyone....until I played vs an AP Nid...the TRUE nightmare.
