Riot would never give Kalista passive to a melee.

They'd have a shot at sticking to a carry if that happened.

Us lowly melee-subhumans aren't allowed to interact with our ranged ADC overlords.

Next ADC released gets the passive: "Balanced gameplay: this champion does not take any damage at all from melee champions"

*but they take 11% more damage from ranged champions Riot: We feel this will increase strategic diversity while playing against Dickbutt, The Melee Fucker.

did you say sticking to a carry...? better nerf irelia >.>

I didn't think they would ever give something like it to an ADC. I underestimated how dumb they can be.

DaCush6 votes

Cause it wouldn't work? Why don't you think about it for a second. If a champ has no range and auto attacks and then dashes(with a guess on where they will move if they move) then they then have to auto them again to repeat the process. I would be surprised if they got 2 autos in a row tbh. With 0 range and complete predictability on where they will go it would be neigh impossible to get it more than the first auto.

THANK YOU!

This is the second time I've seen this idea come up, and both times I've wondered "Did they even think about how horrible it would be to try and use a champion like that?". Glad I'm not the only one!

A Slime Appears1 votes

Probably gave it the same amount of thought Riot did when they asked "Did we even think about how horrible it will be when a melee champion FACES that?"

Melees don't have 0 range, just saying.

Yea no way would a melee champ be able to hop and attack at the same timeRiven Rengar . Also its not like any specific melee champs are designed to stick to targets or pick Akali LeeSin Blitzcrank Thresh Vi Warwick MonkeyKing Zed Talon Renekton .

I mean could you imagine a ranged champ who could dash around like LeeSin or Zed . Although I do pretty much consider Zed a ranged champ since he can use every ability from range at no cost.

Now sarcasm aside, Kali is obviously Riots first attempt at a mobile ranged carry so its obviously going to take a bit. You remember when people cried that Teemo was far to mobile and could kite with ease. Yea thats before 99% of the champs had dashes. Mobility is a hard thing to balance around, if it wasnt, LeeSin wouldnt be so hated. The problem is that Riot seems to think mobility and burst should go hand in hand. I wouldnt mind seeing mobile sustained damage dealers but when someone can out move you and out burst you, this leaves a huge void where counter play should exist. Counter play ends up revolving around ranged carries hiding like scared bitches hoping that their team can pick or engage first before some wild Akali Talon Zed Khazix appears out of nowhere and smashes your face in, or you use hourglass making them worthless for 2 seconds and your team rapes them.

This game is less about out moving and thinking your opponent and its becoming more about hard counters. Zed insta kills you and the other team is winning. You buy hourglass. Zed wastes his time trying to kill you and now your team is winning. Insane burst damage leads to immunity and flash like items which leads to stale play. Id prefer a game where hourglass and sash are not mandatory items. The problem with that is you now cant have costless champs with mobility, range, and burst all in one package...

i swear to god if people keep referring to rengar as mobile -_-. Rengar is probably the LEAST mobile of anyone on that list, because he has to be in a bush and it's targeted. And before you say, "but renguh ult" think about how fucking long the cooldown is. Skillshot based sticking power does not help as she can simply throw a Q and dodge easily, Akali is broken, Lee q would be dodged nonstop, blitz same, thresh same, Vi would hit but she'd be dragged so far back into their team that she'd die instantly, WW better hope he kills her with ult and ult alone, Wukong will e, knock her up, and then proceed to be kited, Zed might be able to kill her, Talon would E then just get kited, Renek would get kited. Kalista can dash around way more than Lee Sin and Zed. Your sarcasm sucks because you don't know what would happen in the game. Funny you say the game's about hard counters, because kalista hard counters nearly every melee you put on that list.

Ignoring Graves, Ezreal, Vayne, Caitlyn, Corki, Lucian and Trist of course.

Why would a melee champion ever want that passive. Every time they auto they get bounced AWAY from where they want to be. They would literally only be able to get one aa in at a time.

LupusNox2 votes

Next melee champ better have a passive where they take reduced damage (up to 40% reduced) depending on how far away they are from the champion/minion/monster/pet that sent out the damage

But the thing is, a CC'd Kalista is a dead one

but honestly i think that's probably the best reply to that dumb ass one liner that i've seen all day. honestly "well all you have to do is CC them a herp a durr...." Awesome suggestion. i honestly never thought of that. Now please. Lets see you play Ahri trying to land a Lure or Xerath landinng his stun on a Kalistawith T3 boots and anything = or greater than 2 attack speed items. I you land more than half of them from anything more than nipple twister distance then i will personally buy you the internets.

Don't bother replying that you failed. i know my wallet is safe.

This is rather true. her greatest strength is her only weakness. once she starts the attack she can't stop, meaning thats the one moment she is vulnerable. the only skillshot i know fast enough to capitalize on that is Blitzcrank 's Q. All others are simply too slow. If played right it denies ALL CC. But then again when she hit's 1.5 Attack Speed shes pretty much Olaf 's Ultimate All game. then theres also item 3139 and summoner 1 .

HeadHonchkrow1 votes

Well, I guess, but this is coming from a Veigar main who has a stun RING lol

Because the moment a melee gets that kind of power he breaks the game.

Like when Xin was released, you couldnt escape from him and you still cant.

Rikari1 votes

its less effective on melee even if they get her Q. Also, melee champs cannot kite. they would stick to the carry though.

Rebonack1 votes

Here's a better idea.

All melee attack animations now work like Malz' puddle, you can move and stab stuff at the same time. Suddenly melees are WAY harder to kite in general.

Just so we're clear, Kalista passive would on a melee champion wouldn't work at all. She'd jump right out of melee range and then not get another jump.

It'd be worse than being rooted after every autoattack. Seriously, you only think you want this.

I know this exact version of the passive wouldn't work for a melee. But if there was a version that would work and be just as strong for melees, Riot would be like lol no wtf broken.

I think Riot is willing to explore hypermobile melee champions. Yasuo and Riven are comparably mobile.

If anything, I would say that Kalista is a big sign that says "mobility creep is here to stay", and expect upcoming melee champions to have the tools to hang in the brave new world.

I wouldn't even say that they are as mobile as Kalista. Kalista could auto and dash back twice and Riven's whole kit would be on cooldown. Yasuo has to have a target and if he dashes to her once without having minions in the correct positions, he won't be able to dash to her again for 10 seconds, while Kalista is still jumping around.
