you're dumb if you don't think most people who say "it's just a game" aren't trying to win as well in spite of how bad they may be playing during that current match.

it's their way of nicely saying "lay off the god damn estrogen you emotional POS". just remember, you have the same MMR for a reason.

There are two different kinds of "just a game" IMO. First there's the "I'm doing my best. Lay off, it's just a game." Which, I may screw around all the time in normals, but I'm still doing my best. Of course I'm not trying to defend the latter. But people already call others trolls simply for not winning lane or making one mistake, and they constantly harass others which, unless the harasser is an actual piece of shit, worsens the state of mind for both players.

To win what? A virtual skin that can be added to a virtual champ, a border and icon? that's not much of an accomplishment. Most people that play the ranked "think" they can go professional with this but in all honesty they can't. There's a VERY small amount that have, and an even smaller amount that could even get that far. So most should just see the truth that it's a game and you win some, you lose some.

Some people play ranked for other personal accomplishments. It doesn't matter if they think they can go pro or not. Kids don't play sports in middle and high school thinking they're going to go play pro sports. If you're not willing to bust your ass in every ranked game, and rather excuse your pathetic play and sportsmanship by simply stating that "it's just a game", then uninstall or play normals. If you don't have a competitive bone and don't care to get chewed out for bringing the team down, look at it and make changes accordingly, then don't ruin it for others. Point blank period.

That's fine that there are "a lot" of people with those aspirations, and for them, great, go for it, try! Trying never hurt anyone. Whether their goal is to become pro at this game, or any other game/sport, or just go as for as they possibly can knowing they gave it their all, it shouldn't matter to you or anyone else. You going around screaming "It's just a game", excusing your lack of care and pretty much acknowledging that you'll continue your charade of mess-ups instead of fixing them and making sure you don't do it again, isn't needed for those who, again, actually care.

Cause you yourself just admitted it's A GAME. If people want to play a mode in the game then they can because that's what it's there for. Sure, there is a lot of toxicity in the various modes but again, your attitude isn't making it any better. So please try to think a bit more before saying things.

Also, I for one care, I'm gold, and quite content with it since I started off bronze.

If people want to play a mode in the game then they can because that's what it's there for.

True, but if they play the one game mode that actually matters achievement wise, and just fuck it up for everyone, and claiming they're doing it because "it's just a game", then they should consider something else. Simple as that. I'm not sure where you're coming up with these inane and absurd counter-arguments, because honestly they're extremely weak. You have yet to counter anything I've pointed out. Now you're continuing just to continue. Me saying it's a game, doesn't translate to a trolls' "it's just a game." Football is a game, Soccer is a game, Video games are games, but does that excuse ANYONE for ruining the experience and hopes to try to get further in that game? Negative.

So please try to think a bit more before saying things.

You did admit it's a game though, so your argument is invalid on that front. You can't deny that you didn't say that cause it's right there. So now you're just trying to contradict yourself.

They aren't ruining it for people though, they play it cause they want to. YOU think they are ruining it for YOU because you're not doing good in that one game. So there's still nothing wrong with saying "it's just a game" because it's a Video Game. A Visually stimulating game that's meant for enjoyment for the most part. Lots of games have ranked/competitive modes that are there for as I said before a high purpose and most people miss that fact. So just cause they "ruin it for you" doesn't mean it's ruined for everyone else

And there's most definitely not as much lot of thought put into what you've said as you think there is. There's nothing backing it to anyway other than your opinion upon the matter.

The problem is that you are trivializing something that someone else finds important to them. Nobody has the right to tell someone what to value and what not to value in life.

People can place disproportionate amounts of value into things that seemingly have no real value to others... Just how you can say money is "just paper" or the bible is "just a book" or whatever...

Being a decent human being is also accepting that other people might place more value over certain things than you do... and to at least give those people an ounce of understanding or at the very least, don't trivialize what they find important.

This is true because you never know what is happening in the other person's life. They could be having REAL issues and the only way they have found an escape is within SR. Granted, League is a game, but it's more about the person's perceptive that's playing it. To some, it could be the only way they get recognized.

I play ranked not to get better, but to get an accurate measurement of my skill. I've had people go 0/18/3 before, but I never told them to die, said they were retarded, or anything related. I might give a command like "Dont fight, turtle" or "When I go in, you go in" etc. but belittling others typically isn't the way to go.

Except usually when people say "its just a game" its because they are feeding and throwing the game horrendously and just want to feel better about ruining the experience for 4 other people. It typically doesnt have anything to do with enjoying the game, but is used as an excuse for doing poorly.

To climb the ladder you have to understand that you are worse than you think you are. Much worse. Just because someone watched something on a stream doesn't mean they know exactly how it works or how to do it. I can honestly tell you that most "unwinnable" battles can be won if you are actually better than the enemy team. And since 1/2 the time you are not, you lose. And if they are better, you're bound to lose anyways.

The only reason you find your computer valuable is because you can get enjoyment out of it and because you (or your parents) had to sink time into getting it by working for the money. It's the exact same reason why people find virtual things valuable, because we sink time into getting them and we enjoy them.

You could of course stay in the dark ages and argue "but they're not REAL!" if you want to.
