The nature of Irelia gives her kill pressure even when behind

No, this isn't a "RIOT NERF IRELIA PLS" salt post. In fact, my gripe with Irelia isn't as large as the other champs I detest. A good majority of the time I don't lose lane vs her (Although my LAST GAME against her I did lose lane because she kept being greedy and getting me low, but I won in K/DA. However, this forced me to back frequently so she got my turret relatively quickly), but I've noticed even when I get massive leads against her, she still doesn't fail to pull some flashy bs and kill my entire backline in a teamfight. This gives me the conclusion of her ability to be hypermobile at any stage of the game gives her a large amount of kill pressure, and it's kind of amazing how she can reset her dash three times on the same target at rapid speeds.

What I think Riot should do is cool it with her mobility (No, don't GUT her. That would just remove her identity.)

That is what people said about Akali W being OP and her heal being annoying. Her identity is removed, it is better to keep her mobility as it is now without any changes.

I can trade with her at level 1 on almost any champ, but as soon as she gets level 2, it's over from there. Once she starts having multiple dashes and gets that bullshit corrupting potion there's just no way to trade with her. She either needs her mobility gutted, her stun gutted, or her damage gutted, because it's just disgusting. She has everything Aatrox was called toxic and unhealthy for having and hasn't been touched nearly as bad as him.

Agreed, her Q should have a 2 hour CD. Fucks up a reset? Get out of here S.T.A.L.K.E.R.!

. . . As a Gnar, new Irelia is a joke... Old Irelia was scarier, but that's just my opinion as a Gnar main :3

Irelia is trash right now though lol.

Like you have to play her perfectly to even have a chance against anything remotely meta.

Love your down votes you haters, guess what? Irelia is supposed to be a mid game carry, learn to play around it. If she doesn't have her reset she's absolutely useless. Irelia is supposed to be able to kill using her resets, she's not a support and sorry if you're butthurt you won lane and you died anyway, oh the injustice of it all! No wonder riot doesn't listen to these boards.

Honestly I never liked how strong Irelia’s waveclear was with her Q last hit ability, as it felt impossible to actually shut her down and she always seemed to have a good early (but I’m not an expert on Irelia so her early might have really been bad).

The thing about Irelia is that, if you touch her mobility at all, she becomes a worthless champion. Let me explain why.

Irelia is a teamfight skirmisher which means she can basically 1v1 any other non skirmisher/hybrid skirmisher in the game except true duelists like Riven, Tryndamere, Jax and Fiora. This is why split pushing on her isn't very ideal at least in today's meta where these skirmishers run rampant so you are left with one other option and that is to teamfight (which is what her kit revolves around). If you touch her mobility (which is why shes a nuisance in teamfights) she effectively becomes useless. She's already had her teamfight nerfed by getting rid of the magic reduction on her W completely, anything further is just digging a deeper grave.

I perma banned irelia until last patch bc I just could not ever deal with her stupid amounts of mobility and utility. Then i found out how hard poppy stomps her into the ground and i don't ban her anymore

I feel the same towards other Marksman when i'm playing Varus for instance. Even if I get ahead, once (Caitlyn, Tristana, Jinx, Xayah or any other Crit Marksman) gets their main items that's it, I can no longer fight them because they automatically win any fight regardless what I build on him; AD, On-Hit, AP...

Serious time, Most champions can come back when behind but some kits make it easier Look at Irelia's kit, Damage reduction, a slow, a stun, magic damage passive, and high mobility, She also takes tiamat If you're bad at her, You won't be getting back on the board unless you steal kills in team fights If you're good at her, You can use all that to catch up just because that's how her kit is, It has good outplay potential and while not inherently hard, You'll still see a big difference between a bad Irelia and a good Irelia

She allows good players to get back on the board if they play right And bad players to feed even more unless they get lucky

The general kill pressure however is just naturally in her kit Everything I listed before, A slow, a stun, high mobility, and her passive give her good kill pressure Normally mobile champs have high kill pressure because they can easily jump on her, But add passive damage on, tiamat, and two forms of CC and her kill pressure becomes a little crazy The point is even with all that, a bad Irelia won't make much use of it assuming their opponent knows what they're doing against her

Thing about high dmg champions and squishy champions...

When a champion that builds/has any sort of tankiness destroys a dmg dealer in lane and builds vs them accordingly the damage dealer will struggle in two ways... they will be behind and their opponent will extend this lead with a build that effectively puts them even more behind. So they don't only just have less dmg then they would otherwise but that less damage is less effective against their opponent.

A squishy however stays squishy and so a champion that is innately damage focused it only going to be minorly set back vs that opponent.

EX. A high dmg champion with two items deals 1500 damage in a short period of time, however they are behind and deal physical dmg facing an opponent that ahead with 2000 hp and 150 armor that after mitigation can exceed the rate of damage they take with their own. HOWEVER! The squishy may only have 1200 hp or so by this point, so they are still very susceptible. Its takes a lot more of a difference in relative levels and items for a squishy to survive dmg cause they don't do nearly as much to deal with it. When we are talking champions like irelia they have better base stats, better early game scaling, mobility and built in dmg reduction that if they play it right they effectively have a leg up back line champions on top of the fore mentioned, meaning need to be extremely behind to not be a significant threat to something that can die getting sneezed on.

The advantage these ranged squishies have is they can scale to a point they kill everything else before they can even engage, irelia is one case where and initial cc is optimal cause her engage is fast and strong.

Wild Geese3/20/2019, 6:25:40 PM

I like that about Irelia though, very few Champs can pull it off.

People compare her to Jax a lot, but this is one way she's very different from Jax. Jax demands consists and his power curve is very linear. Irelia may be ahead or behind but regardless her power jumps suddenly in the midgame.

It kind of fits her thematically too.
