Who's idea was it to make IE first buy on ADC's

I finished Botrk as Vayne and the enemy Jinx had an IE and I get rocketed twice with her super long range and guess what, both of them crit. I had less than half hp.

It became better when the bloodthister got reworked. Old BT would stack and you could get about 100 AD with max stacks. When they reworked it to the shield passive IE became the better first item buy damage wise.

Which was the point I was trying to make. I would take pre-nerf BT anyday over 25% RNG

The thing is the itemization was stale, still is. So long as one build type is the strongest, it's going to remain stale. ADC itemization needs a full on overhaul. Crit is a great way to go, but for it to be hands down the best build is kind of backwards.

The issue with the old kind was that it was even more snowball heavy then we are now. If one ADC could build the BT and then get all the stacks on it they became a monster in lane and outside. At least with the IE rush they have big damage but it's not as guaranteed as the old BT was.

Riot, patch 4.10

no one person decided it, it's just smarter to go ie first in most cases.

yeah, riot never really did much about fixing the adc itemization thing that made picking trist god-mode for a while.

Building an IE first usually means that an ADC is behind in farm. If you were playing Vayne I assume the Jinx was probably a bit behind where you were, and building an IE first is a good way to try and win back a lane because it theoretically allows you to deal much more damage than a Bloodthirster, Essence Reaver, or a BotRK at the expense of having any sustain.

Jinx rolled the dice and got natural 20s both times. If she hadn't you probably would have beaten her. But if she was willing to take the risk then she earned the reward.

you get ie when ahead if anything, not behind. Ie gives a lot more dps than bt and you shouldn't get essence reaver on jinx ever really. BOTRK isn't as good as ie either on jinx.

I wasn't saying to build either Essence Reaver or BotRK on her. I was listing off the pros and cons of IE versus the lifesteal items.

Back in my day you only built life steal if you were ahead or about even and built IE if you felt it necessary to roll the dice and bet on winning your lane back lol

the way you worded it, it sounded like you were saying she got IE because she was most likely behind.

Yeah, that's what I was saying. I just wasn't saying that either a BotRK or an Essence Reaver. They way I've always ADCd, or was taught to rather, was building BT early if I was ahead or holding even and an IE if I was behind to try and catch up through crits
