the problem is tat this just is true for early-mid and melecaarrys.
In the late, you can easily deal with a tank in your face as adc as your damage and lifesteal outscales them hard.
Also, champs like yi and fiora are exeptionally good at getting ontop of a target.
The champions that really have problems are tanky dps like shyvana or volibear. They lack good gapcloseing and they need to stay in range for some time to be effecktive, they can't really burst down a target nor do they offer alot cc.
With a tank like mao, you have a point n click gapcloser on range of most ADCs makeing it easy to enter a fight, and you deal burst damage and cc, so after your W-E-Q, it doesn't matter if you get peeled away, you already applyed nearly all your damage and all your cc to the target.
With shy, you ult in, probably get stopped by cc, but even if not, you might use E+Q and then the target is out of range, so your high AA dps and the W will never find a way to the desired target, so 50+%of your kits damage simply don't happen.
I can agree with tanks that don't have gapclosers, but my main point is if riot wants tank to be apart of the game, and teamwork they are going to have to adjust them to be on = paths with champs that can cc/burst. Other wise I don't see the point of players picking tanks if they can't last long enough to do there job in the team fights.
