Just because you are "countered" doesn't mean you have to get destroyed in lane...

I understand a lane can be tough and you might get nothing done by the time peeps bring it in for group stuffs, but I'd rather you be a limp noodle than you be a limp noodle and have a super fed opponent melting face.

Unfortunately, being a limp noodle because you were countered tends to mean that opponents have an easy time beating up on you to get fed.

People who are feeding top against a counter is usually getting dived by the counter and jungler though.

This combined with "could care less" teammates who flame you for int feeding the enemy. Is why I quit Toplane. Play safe. How about come help sometime by minute 15.

Even LCS commentators have described top in particular as a "walking bag of gold" when the lane is lost badly.

"Play safe" is better said earlier rather than later. The game is indeed designed such that you can't really interact with your opponents if the lane or game is being lost by an absurd amount.

Playing safe is also a bit harder to do now that people can dive you with near completely impunity.

sure its possible, just harder.

I think that's what a lot of people seem to forget. I have seen junglers tell top or adcs to "hug turret" only for the enemy to lock the wave near his turret so you get no exp or cs. And if you try to go get any you get killed, don't go get any then you end up underleveled and immediately tower dived over and over leading to you still feeding and now being useless.

Best thing to do in this situation is try to get someone to help you. If no one will then you are probably screwed till the enemy decides to go back to base.

If the lane freezes and your countered or behind your pretty much fucked. Then the jungler needs to come in and help break the freeze or your down 70-80 cs by ten minutes.

Sorry, but in solo queue when it has to do with Top lane, being safe is harder to do than you think. As a top laner if you get countered badly, you expect your jungle to give you a small gank.

Especially in a meta when the jungle can stay at top bushes for literally 3 minutes(easy if you even play rek sai),waiting for you to try and farm in order to gank you 2-3 times in a row.

In my 40 last games i had to play literally under enemy's jungler's pressure for the 10 first minutes of the game.If playing under the same pressure every game is already tilting, imagine how much infuriating is when you see most of your junglers afk farming until level 6 without doing any ganks/counter ganks, not at top lane specifically but in ANY LANE.

It gets even worse when the whole team flames you for losing lane due to enemy's jungle pressure. Thus,it's easier said than being done.

you dont know the meaning of being a limp noodle if you havent fought a taric top as a jarvan with an udyr camping your lane while your nunu freefarms their jg.

When the 0/3 Nasus that got hard countered two shots your carry.

item 3070

AgeOfTheMage3 votes

though certain counters are really strong, depends on which counters.

PopcornBunni2 votes

Okay but when the 0/0/0 Nasus starts 1v5ing because he hardcounters Poppy and ends up with a 70 cs lead, then don't complain I didn't deny him cs while he was lanebullying.

LyingOnLine1 votes

Sure, I’ll be sure not to do that thing that should never happen.

DragonShea2 votes

Yeah I have won against a few of my counters and trust me it's satisfying. If you want to be good in lane you have to be good at deal with the counters of your champs.

Serika Zero2 votes

it was this way since forever example: playing fish into veigar....... you don't even have to be good at fish you will just STOMP VEIGAR SO HARD if you just dodge his cage with your troll poll, its not even funny

riot doesn't seen to change this. since there were no changes in the past 4 years as far as i know regarding hard counters.

and yes, this has been a thing for all lanes, and even junglers. there was a time when being a viable jungler meant: you do not get stomped by lee sin............ so, yeh

top isn't anything special right now, and don't expect major changes. They won't happen. the only reason bot lane is not so counter heavy is because there's 2 players there. And mid lane, well, the "op" mid laners have no, or very niche hard counters. which why you don't see that as often.

Handy Sandy 1 votes

yea you do, fizz (i assume) is pretty trash if you don't know how to play him. You can just buy stopwatch and not push.

Serika Zero2 votes

give the match-up a try my friend. there's only 2 things you need to know: use E to dodge stun, you can pass though it with your E and press W to proc it once its fully charged to do a huge chunk of damage.

and now you rofl stomp veigar to the point he is worth less than a small jungle creep, but you also deny any farm or exp. after 6 you can constantly tower dive him.

Veigar has to play this match-up like its 5 leagues above the enemy fizz. Just like in top lane, if you play maokai, and the enemy picks gnar. You are fucked, you got to play maokai to beyond perfection to make something out of it. While gnar shits on you the entire game.

GripaAviara1 votes

Veigar rapes fizz, but what ever

Wolfeur1 votes

Plus, it also depends a lot on skills. I picked VK against a Zed, expecting to be dumpstered.

I finished 18/0

Lord Phazanor 1 votes

Not too long ago I picked Maokai top and then the enemy toplaner picked Urgot. When the game started I told him "You counterpicked yourself". "Counters don't exist in this game". I then killed him 4 times in lane just because he kept trying to go full aggro even though my life didn't go down.

MuffledGarbage1 votes

Maokai is just broken right now...

I think what's interesting is that people are quick to stray away from their counters. Of course you don't want to lose, but losing is an important part of learning. Outside of who has superior skill, and then finding a more casual game to implement this environment, go for that anti-counter and see how well you do. Play your counter as well, so you get a better feel of how their kit works.

MuffledGarbage1 votes

Too bad that enemies just cook my limp noodle

Too bad I can't get any help when i'm countered because all my junglers think "must camp bot/mid, ignore top"

I swear I haven't had a gank in 5 games

DrLuau1 votes

Turrets don't do damage after 12-15 minutes so if you fall behind, ever, you just get tower dived by jungle repeatedly or you cede tower, both of which give the enemy team a nice chunk of change. Riot wants "take a small advantage and run with it" to be a viable strategy but this is getting ridiculous.

xelaker1 votes

by the 15 minute mark peeps should be making a transition into mid stuffs instead of blamming it down lane over and over

deadlychuck1 votes

It'd probably help if they removed some of the rigidity in their item design for enforcement of what counters what.

Kaìju1 votes

If someone tells me this and they don't do anything to help after the first time I get dived 2v1, I just give up the tower. I don't even care. I am not going to sit under tower and wait to be killed I will let him take tower at 7 minutes and I will farm at my tier two tower. If the jungle or mid doesn't come help me why should I help them by holding my tower.

Yaśuo Main1 votes

Nah, I love losing the entire lane if the enemy just PICKS Darius.

xelaker1 votes

perhaps expand your champ roster then? can't exactly complain if you only play a select few champs man...

Yaśuo Main1 votes

you think I don't?

Also, yasuo winrate is higher in top than mid. you think its smarter to go yasuo top in ranked or yasuo mid in ranked? I'm allowed to complain that I lose just because Darius is picked against me in blind pick.

but I'd rather you be a limp noodle than you be a limp noodle and have a super fed opponent melting face.

And why exactly are you trying to disprove your own point? The entire post is based on "if ur counterd u shouldn't be so hard countered ur useless". That is exactly what I'm talking about. SO WHAT exactly are you getting it?
