Liandries on Swain(correct board??)

Was having a discussion with a friend, we both used to play Swain regularly. He goes Liandires because of statisically it has a higher win rate, and I never build it ever.

Im not saying hes wrong to use it, but personally i dislike it on swain so im trying to understand WHY its a thing on swain?

The pen/hp/burn? idk I feel like the burn is meh, even on a E max. the pen is meh, the hp is meh. I say that because the stats its offers I get from abyssal scepter /sorc boots(pen wise) and RoA, Rylais, and Spirit Visage(HP wise).

Is it situational? an item for a more bursty/less tanky Swain?

Im so confused.

hypothetically speaking if swain had a 100% winrate with item 3153 its likely because he only builds it in a very specific case where it wins games.

high winrate items dont necessarily mean you will improve your chances of winning.

swain builds guise, like many champs used to. Liandry's likely isnt that important to finish. Guise got its price reduced and it was already a silly item

I can't speak for liandaries torment, but haunting guise is an excellent item.

15 magic pen, along with 15 magic pen from sorcerers = 30 magic pen.

lets take a popular adc - caitlyn.

She has 30MR. With 2 items, you will be basically doing true damage to her.

(not accounting for runes and masteries)

IMO- Liandaries is good, but not as a first item. Get a haunting guise, and leave it there.

And please dont buy spirit visage on swain, unless the enemy team has 6 AP champions.

I think the new rylies is pretty trash too, for swain. His Q slow is enough.

You can definately buiild Liandries on Swain. You proc it's passive on everyone around you and in a long fight it will give you a lot of damage.

Well, no idea how your friend builds him, but my current order looks like this:

item 1056 item 2003 -> item 3136 -> item 3020 -> item 3151 -> into what ever I need item 3089 item 3157 item 3135 item 3001 item 3165

I rush it, getting true DMG on everyone without a MR-Item before they even finished their Morello. (@2.600g - Morello 2.900g)

But I guess you guys are arguing about a more... conservative build with a liandrys being build later in the game. And here it's a situational choice. If you see a team with much HP and less MR - it's the best Item you can buy. As soon as the enemy has MR Void and friends are alot better.
