To The People Who Plan On Locking In Veigar In The Support Role...

Please don't. Why? Because you have zero peel potential outside of your stun wall and you have no damage as a "haven't farmed my passive yet" Veigar. You can't even truly farm that passive anyway in the bot lane without taking cs from your lane partner and even with your ability to "sap" it off of the enemy laners, you still have no damage, so you don't even pose a threat to the opposing bot laners (outside of your stun wall; and that's assuming you can consistently land it). Not to mention the final, probably most important, fact that you are just as (if not more) squishy as the adc you are with, leaving you as a sitting duck if you so happen to get caught out of position without that wall of yours.

So again, I ask you, if you plan on locking in Veigar in the Support role, please don't.

He works fine as a support, I play it on my smurf at plat 5 ELO and sometimes on my main as well. He is my second most picked support right after ziliean and currently sitting on a 62.2% win rate. It was higher but had some unlucky game a week or 2 ago.

You underestimate the power of veigar's massive stun and the duration of that stun. It's extremely easy to solo the enemy ADC or support once you hit 6 as well because your ult is now an execute and doesn't need them to have any AP unlike the old veigar.

Build is:

  1. item 3098
  2. item 3070
  3. item 3113 or item 1058 if fed (get both eventually)
  4. item 3285 or item 2301 if struggling (get both eventually)
  5. item 3158
  6. item 3135 if they are stacking MR after your ludens or item 3003 if they aren't and you are too poor to afford item 3089

final build: item 2301 item 3007 item 3285 item 3135 item 3158 item 3089

If you want to play Veigar as an off-role pick, he's far better as an ADC or a tank top than a support. Why?

Veigar will, if allowed to farm, always have damage on his abilities. He gets ability power from his passive even if he builds AD or tank items. Supports can't farm -- but ADCs and top laners can. If Veigar builds an Infinity Edge, Phantom Dancer, etc., he'll have both ridiculous auto attack damage like an ADC as well as ability damage from his passive on top of far more utility than most ADCs have because of Event Horizon AND more burst than most ADCs have because, well, he's a mage. If Veigar builds full tank, again, he'll have farmed his passive, so his abilities will still hit like a truck. Except now, he can charge straight into the enemy team and drop his cage on everyone while still being able to nuke your carries.

don't listen to them. Play Vieg as support and be happy.
