What was the point of removing Mana Potions?

I was just curious what the reasoning behind this is. Could someone explain why this is a good change or a bad change? I personally don't like it and I don't understand why they would remove them. Thanks :D

IMO, it wasn't a good idea. But Riot thinks that it doesn't benefit champions equally.

"they're not equally useful on all champs so we're going to remove them from everyone and barely compensate those who legit needed them"

Yeah I was looking through all the new items and stuff and when I noticed they removed mana potions i figured they must have buffed a starting item or perhaps made it into one of the new flasks, but nope. Nothing in sight, feelsbadman.

feels good man, now i wont get those mages that buy 5 mana potions and just get full mana once they waste it on the minion wave. I mean its not like i main assassins but...

They even removed clarity to boot, so no mana for you. Funny, with mana pots being gone, clarity might have been more popular with mana intensive champions.

They basically removed mana from the game for their newer champs and reworks. Fiora's Q costs 20 mana, Darius' 30, Kindred's 30 etc...these champs don't need mana and thats the direction Riot is heading. Expect some of the older champs to get their mana costs adjusted to "modern" LoL standards.

That would certainly be a nice compensation, but, I think in the long run it is going to leave a lot of mages pretty useless. I guess that could go either way. I just really hope something is done in the next patch or two.

Yes, you are right but that is where Riot is heading. They prefer the faster, flashy style of playing with champs spamming alot of abilities, such as Yasuo with his dashes, Fiora dancing around with her Q, etc...the old classic mages who cast 1 (albeit powerful) spell every 8 secs or so are not what Riot wants to see anymore. So they give all new champs low mana costs which they need to spam their abilities basically off cooldown.
