Wards and Late Game

What in the world do you do? I feel so conflicted. When I hit that awesome full build I run out of room for wards. Do I sell an item and then go out and ward, recall and repurchase the item and risk having myself underpowered when in the blindness that is the fog of war? What do I do? The map's always dark outside of a few wards at late game and it becomes a dangerous thing when you're behind to go out to ward.

I feel as if everything could and would be solved so easily if we had an exclusive bought ward inventory spot.

It really depends on who you are playing and what position you are in. Carries typically rely on their damage to be useful, so they can't really afford to be missing a full item for wards. However, they can and should upgrade their vision trinket to give them Green or Pink wards.

Junglers are a different story. Both the Wriggle's Lantern/Feral Flare and Quill Coat/Spirit of the Ancient Golem give a ward, so many junglers are fine even if they get an Oracle's Lens. Certain junglers (Lee Sin, Nunu, Elise) can get away with building an early sightstone without really harming their impact on the game. This is very good when you consider that the junglers can roam the map freely and ward either jungle or the river to watch the movements of enemies.

Tanky top lane champions (such as Maokai, Malphite, Volibear) can on some occasions get away with building a Sightstone as well. It shouldn't be purchased too early in the game because it hurts your ability to fight your opponent and you don't roam that much anyways, but you can typically buy it after your first or second completed item without issue. You might not get the full cost efficiency of a sightstone rush, but it still allows you to have wards in the late game and gives you some health.

going red trinket is good, unless your team isn't warding and you really, really need the wards. for ap midlane, you will just have to play safe again. once at full build, it's better to have something that helps in a fight, unless you plan on being more supportive for your team. if your team is getting caught because they don't have enough wards and you are depended on them, then you can go with the extra wards, but if you aren't depending on them as ap midlane, then just go damage and be very careful of your pathing.

depends on your role. if you are adc, it's better to not lose a slot to wards and just play safer. if jungle or support, then it's more reasonable that you get sightstone. some junglers are more reasonable than others. lee with sightstone is completely fine, and jax is also fine. flare gives a ward with trinket so that's two wards if you are going a flare jungle.

As a Flare Jung, I usually go red Trinket. What would you say about ranged Midlane AP?
