Yasuo Mains and Haters, Hear Me Out

Yasuo is fairly "oppressive", "broken", yadda yadda yadda.

But what about a nerf that might fix things about trying to fight Yasuo:

Yasuo gains less attack speed from items, And maybe less bonus to crit percentage

That seem reasonable? What do you guys think?

Yasuo needs less mobility.

Right now most popular build in high elo for Yasuo: Statik, Infinity and only tank items. With his armor shred and new items he becomes unstoppable and unkillable.

nerf his abilities, not the items that he buys. I feel like that would be unfair.

I am saying nerf his abilities. To explain it better, if he gets a Stattik Shiv, he would get, say, 30% attack speed as opposed to the listed 40% increase that the Stattik Shiv gives to everyone else.

Listen people. I am a Yasuo main. He's a cool champion.

But I'm pretty sure a lot of people complaining about this mofo has never actually played him. He has so many hard counters it's ridiculous: Riven, Malzahar, Lissandra, Annie, Renekton, the list goes on and on. Most champions have 2 or 3 counters that are still, in theory, playable- yasuo has 6 or 7, 2-3 of which are gg unless you're Faker.

He has a lot in his kit, and I'd be the first to say that it needs some trimming. But he also requires a ridiculous amount of skill to play effectively- split second usage of his dash and Wind Wall, managing the tornado, tornadashing, and plus, he's squishy as hell.

So, if you see a Yasu: counterpick him. Ruin his day. Then go play the FotM champs to make yourself feel better when the Plat 4 smurfs outplay you. Kappa :P Hope this helped.

Oh no, I've played him before. Played against him too, I just know that people complain a lot about him and say he's "broken" and stuff. All of the responses are pretty helpful in understanding what people think should stay and what should be changed, especially yours, didn't think that Renekton would be a counter. Probably more of a "play it safe" strategy or something so Yasuo doesn't get ahead, right?

I'll say it again: despite what some people want to believe, Yasuo is a champion that requires immense mechanical skill and outplay in his kit: the difference between a good Yas and a bad Yas is much more glaring difference than, say, the difference between a good Annie and a bad Annie, because Annie is an easy champ to play.

If you see a Yas in champ select, don't sweat. Take away some of his best friends (Malph, Sion, Vi, Ori, etc) and then counterpick. Malzahar is really good, as is Liss, and yes, Annie. Notice the trend? They have the targeted CC to lock him down and the damage to match him head on.

What I find troubling about the community is that many assume his powerful kit = freelo. In fact, he pays for his large moments of power for a weakness a champ select- he's useless on a team with no knockup to help him and equally useless against a team that can lock him down quickly and kill him before the infinite dashes and 5 man ults begin to roll in!

Try Trundle, Renekton, and Fiora top, and Liss, Malz, Annie, and Viktor and Syndra work well too in mid.

I don't doubt you, Yasuo is pretty difficult to become really good with. I barely play ranked, let alone draft (only occasionally), but this actually does give me confidence if I do choose to get back into ranked someday, even if I play ranked just to get the rewards before November rolls around.

I DO assume that Master Yi is a freelo champ... just kidding, the items are what makes him strong. Anyway, yeah, I did get Fiora because she was fun when I tried her during her free week, but now I feel bad if I play her because she's associated with the "broken" treatment. Viktor would be fun to get back into... Lissandra as well, and I did contemplate on getting Renekton before, and I think Renekton mid is possible.

Thank you for your advice, this is really helpful, especially since I am around the Silver ranking.

Neither of these would fix any of the problems with him, really. I hate Yasuo because of his insane mobility and utility on top of the burst damage/poke. Lower attack speed won't fix either of those even if may make him slightly less powerful.

Yasuo is like Teemo if he was actually strong. People don't hate Teemo for being OP, they hate him for being Teemo. Yasuo is the same way.

i hate threads like this. I hate yasuo...at least playing against him. but his double crit is literally what makes him viable. he has a lot of issues with his kit, the double crit chance is not one of them. make it anything less than what it is and he is just a mobile melee person with no damage steroids that are worth mentioning.

the real issues are just his early lane phase oppression with windwall/flow combo vs mages and his insane mobility to pair with that.

honestly outside of lane yasuo is fine. he can take over if he outplays your entire team, but he has to outplay them to do that. he is great paired with proper teamwork and thats ok as well. his real issue is just early lane phase and once he gets shiv is ability to free farm a lane assuming he is playing yasuo properly. he will almost always beat you by a wide margin in CS if he cant kill you.

I'm not saying nerf Yasuo to the ground or anything. I do agree that the circlejerk threads are annoying at times, but this thread is a legitimate question to see what other people think of an idea. That's why I titled this: "Yasuo Mains and Haters, Hear Me Out", because I wanted people who play Yasuo for a good amount as well as the people who are annoyed by Yasuo to give me a good combo of feedback that would be constructive.

I would be okay with his damage if his mobility and defenses were not amazingly strong too Why does this fucker get like a combined total of almost 30/30 in damage/defense/mobility, it's just flat out unfair

Stars Shaper1 votes

He already has -25% crit damage from Q that is his only form of damage. It's fair enough.

TonyTonyMordecai1 votes

All of Yasuo's crits hurt less, not just on his Q. And I meant that he would get less bonus crit chance compared to his current 50% bonus crit chance.

Stars Shaper1 votes

The reason he gets it double is because he lacks a steroid and for melee carries you need a reliable steroid. This for Yasuo has the form of crit chance, Fiora and Yi havetrue damage and bonus AD. Trynda has bonus ad and crit chance (which is really higher of Yasuo's at early levels).

TonyTonyMordecai1 votes

I suppose that's fair. I never thought about it that way.

Hehe, when you think about a character you get to know what his "class" is about and melee carries must have:

  • Reliable steroid
  • Good mobility
  • A safe window of action (which usually means a high defensive value mechanic)

Then you can mess up with some good thematic/innovations.
