It is one thing to distract yourself from a problem, it is another to completely change your environment and refresh yourself. There is a reason why people still go on vacations even though they can be very stressful to get going and all the entertainment we have at home.
Aír1 votesTo each their own... but I didn't have friends until LoL and I hang out with my friends by playing LoL. There is nothing else I enjoy doing. At all. So why should I go force myself to do the standard things of "going out" and whatever if it just makes me more upset and unhappy? What is the point of "going out" then? When I could be more happy playing at home after I finish work and my run? I love league of legends, no matter what happens with the game. It helped make my depression go away and have something to shoot for.
And yes, I use M&G as an escape from the frustrations of LoL sometimes. The people who visit that section of the boards are some of the most chill and friendliest people I know. Playing with Laughing Fish especially is just hilarious. There is very little else that can untilt me other than looking at memes that can make me laugh.
Oh, well, there is Nyan cat. It is hard to be tilted if you are listening to Nyan cat. xD
Nilok1 votes...I'm really sorry to have to tell you this, but since League of Legends is a server based game like a modern MMO, it will eventually get shutdown. I won't be this year, nor next year, but League of Legends won't last forever. Unless Riot enables private servers when League reaches its end of life, or someone performs coding magic and reverse engineers Riot's servers, it will die when it become too much of a drain on resources and Riot moves on to their next game.
You really should expand your list of games that everyone, or most everyone in your group can play so you can future proof against this. You really should expand your horizons and at least have some other things you like to do in your back pocket for the future.

If you like board games, war games, or RPGs, I recommend looking into Tabletop Simulator. With them adding VR support through the HTC Vive, it should feel a lot like sitting across from your friends even if they are scattered around the world.

Aír1 votesWell, it is not something I need to worry about now or anytime soon. Or anytime in a few years at the least. I am sure this game won't die over night, so I will have a fair amount of time to adjust to something else.
TBH though, I don't feel like this game will die for at least another decade or two. Just a hunch. I am not saying that I 100% believe it is impossible for it to die in a shorter time than that, but I have a good feeling that it will last for a while longer. The esports scene has been booming in the last decade alone and I am sure it will only get stronger or at least become a regular part of our culture, almost like american football in america or soccer for the rest of the world. Just a theory. >.<

Levity certainly has it's place but with this current shitstorm surrounding DynoQ's permanent residence and SoloQ's permanent eviction, along with how Riot has handled it all, I feel should be taken seriously. Because this is a big fundamental change, the likes that haven't been seen for a long time. And right now levity with funny GIFs is just a distraction.
But that's just me personally.
