So about that Janna nerf on the PBE..

rtbf225618241··6 votes·2,529 views

As a Janna main with roughly 2k games on her i have to ask:

Why?

Her entire playstyle revolves around very high game knowledge combined with your mechanical proficiency. You nerf her shield because...? Seriously, it feels to me like you guys don't want any champion to be strong for too long. Because that's "unbalanced".

I have never felt like she was unbalanced. Every time i play against her, the player is nothing in comparison with what is possible with Janna. Even if he wins, he contributs like 10% to the whole game's outcome because her build is too damn hard to figure out for some reason. I managed to find out her perfect utility build in approximately 100 games. I don't see why nerf her main stat-buff that requires pretty good timing and sustain to pull off. Now, i know the 5 seconds is a bit much for protection but considering there are Brands and Annies and Karmas and Namis and.....pretty much everyone except Taric who can insta-burst with the pure damage/cc-tools, i'd say it's a fair tradeoff.

Anyway, Janna is still balanced from my perspective because she shows no clear particular strenghts in anything else than disengaging. I have yet to see anyone flexible with her and anyone who knows how to turn around fights with Janna. Honestly, i WANT someone to be that good but my hopes are slowly dying.

Her win-rate is around 55% on EUW, which isn't anything too special either.

Considering she is rather simple to kill when locked down without ultimate or chain-cc-d and that there are only 3 wards on Sightstone now, limiting her roam-warding massively, she's already on the edge of falling to the lower tier picks.

Janna is in no way balanced with how low her skill cap is. try and exaggerate all you want, but a champion that braindead easy should not be so rewarding. her shield is a point and clcik that gives your adc a bf sword and even more ad late game. all they do is rush mejais because you cant catch the damn champion with her speed. shes more annoying than lee sin when played well.

Poop Jelly4 votes

I don't think Janna is a braindead champion; she actually requires a lot of thinking. Most champions in League is pretty self-explanatory to use, if that's what you mean by low skill cap, but it takes lots of knowledge and confidence to understand her kit, matchup and support role. Aggressive supports in my opinion take way less thinking to play than utility supports. It's most satisfying to deny a champion who thinks they're about to make plays, and that's the beauty of Janna. To use aggressive Janna successfully is even harder to play. But I agree, she's very annoying to face if the player knows how to use Janna well.

Goodest Gamer2 votes

she makes sure no one can engage on her duo and herself while having the ability to engage as well with her ulti flash and her slow. ive played janna once before in diamond elo and i had no idea why i was even trying with other supports when i could just sit back and let the champ play the game for me.

rtbf2256182411 votes

You don't seem to understand that her Q is hard to hit without quickly using it which gives only a small window for escaping. Her W is point&click but you have to be close to the enemy and it has a cast time that has often gotten me caught for and i already explained about the Shield in the original post.

Also, none of you make us of Janna's ultimate radius. It's always only for the heals. Goes to the maximum range near an enemy to get that 0.25 second stagger on them or ult them at the right angle where you want. It's always for the heals..

Lauchmelder1 votes

It's not because Janna is broken OP. Janna herself is brainlessly easy to pull off and still rocks a 55% winrate. Her whole kit basically consists of "Shield something" and "Peel".

And with the current gameplay where Teams are too scared to fight each other due to insane deathtimers she can literally disengage every potential fight.

rtbf2256182412 votes

Funny that people think people are afraid to fight because in Platinum this happens all the time. In late game too. The only reason why she is relevant in late game is because i have 6 activatable items at that point which keep my team (barely) alive.

She is a super hard champion when you have to manage 10 buttons tbh and pay attention to everything at the same time.

Do scroll the comments because you're not the first to claim she is "easy".

Lauchmelder1 votes

"Look at me I can play with 6 actives."

So do I with my Thresh or literally any other Support.

[slayer-jinx-unamused]

You want to know why people claim that she is easy? Because a Point and click shield, a Point and click slow, a Tornado which you barely will ever Charge up to its full potential and a "Press R"-AoE disengage. Does she require game knowledge? Yes. Is she mechanically demanding? Hell no.

rtbf2256182411 votes

When did i boast about having 6 actives? She's an utility Support and my build gets the most out of it. I simply stated how difficult it is. I still mess up with number 6 as you have to press Righteous Glory twice.

Check the other comments i'm done explaining what risks are involved with her W and ult and how her tornado is easy to dodge. So ignorant people.

Lauchmelder1 votes

{quoted} She is a super hard champion when you have to manage 10 buttons tbh and pay attention to everything at the same time.

That's not boasting? That's literally what a Support in General is working with. Doesn't make her harder than other Champions.

rtbf2256182411 votes

I've never seen anyone else have more than 3 activatable items. That's a fact that it's hard to play with 10 fucking buttons in a middle of a teamfight.

It's not boasting. Learn the language!

Lauchmelder2 votes

That's not the point. The point is that you are boasting to be able to use 10 buttons in a teamfight while EVERY DECENT SUPPORT does that. You aren't a special flower in terms of activatable items.

rtbf2256182411 votes

Well turns out i am since i just said i have never seen anyone with more than 3 activatable items.

And i've played around 4000 games in total. That's roughly 40 000 people of which are 8000 Supports. I think i've seen enough and you have no clear proof to prove me otherwise. The only instance i may believe you in is high elo.

Lauchmelder2 votes

That's just being ignorant. Sorry man, but you need to get your head out of your a$$ and realize that you are not the only person on earth that can do this.

Desiderium3 votes

She gives a bit too much AD early on in the game + they want to normalize the number values from odd numbers to increments of 10.

Maxing the spell will still give the same amount of AD benefit in the mid and later levels.

Also, no, Janna is not balanced. She has too much agency over who does and does not get to fight her and her team. Which would be okay if there was any counterplay involved with her peeling power. You can't avoid a point blank tornado. You can't help being knocked back half a screen away, and watching her float away with 500 movespeed. You can't help being hit by a TARGETED SLOW. She's fucking broken. There's almost 0 counterplay to ALL of her spells.

Akali is SO HOT3 votes

Janna has literally had one of the top winrates in the game since the game started. I don't think she has ever once gone below a 50% winrate and right now is currently number 1 on support winrates while having a high pickrate.

She is braindead easy to play and gets way too much reward for how little mechanical effort you have to put into playing her. Janna got lucky this time because that's just an itsy bittsy love tap.

rtbf2256182411 votes

First:Love tap? The hell? That's a nerf.

Second:If Riot judges balance around win-rates then no wonder this game sucks most of the time. 55% is nothing special. Even if it's been like that for a long time, then it only means it's a fairly balanced champion.

Third:How is she easy to play? Everyone can dodge a tornado unless it's in a narrow area and her W requires her to get within basic attack range of a typical marksman. Her ultimate is never used to knock-back like Tristana's ultimate but rather than to knock back from like half of that range. People don't even know how to play her.

Van Darkholme1 votes

{quoted}

First:Love tap? The hell? That's a nerf.

No. What happened to Shyvana in the PBE is a nerf. This is ultimately a very small change that is hardly relevant, because if you're in a situation where losing that tiny bit of AD means much of anything, you probably weren't winning in the first place. If you want to see some real legitimate nerfs to Janna, you should look at some of the earlier patches in S1, when she was quite literally the only support in the game and practically invalidated every other support pick until aforementioned nerfs, whereupon (release) Sona and Taric to a lesser extent replaced her.

This is barely going to affect you, or anyone else who plays her. She's still pretty much the best support in her particular niche. Citing early support damage when you're playing a character designed more around securing the carry's safety is like complaining about Soraka's healing or Leona's CC. That's their thing!

Also? You're absolutely goddamn bonkers if you think Janna's win-rate 'isn't a big deal'. Yes. 54-55% is a VERY HIGH WINRATE. Especially when you consider her Fifteen percent pick-rate. You claiming that most people 'don't even know how to play her' isn't syncing up because the numbers are showing me that either A) Not knowing how to play her doesn't matter a whole lot or B) A lot of people are highly dedicated and skilled Janna mains.

And yes. There is always a way you could have played better, a way to use your abilities and actives to make things play out differently. That isn't exclusive to Janna. I would argue Bard is FAR more applicable, if we're looking at the spectrum of supports.

rtbf2256182411 votes

Previous Seasons are almost never relevant in terms of balance conversations. I wasn't even around then.

This is barely going to affect me? I already explained how much damage do most supports do early. Citing "It's their thing" is like "Okay let's go afk and fucking surrender at 20 then if that's their thing", because you can't retaliate in return, properly.

People win a lot with her because disengage is enough in low elo. As you progress higher, you're going to need to do more with her. I've rarely seen a Janna on the opposing team win because i normally know how to bring her down whatever she does. She doesn't know how to play better than me and will make mistakes that are going to be fatal. And she's going to make a lot of them.

Akali is SO HOT1 votes

4 AD is a love tap. If you want to see real nerfs go to the patch history for Akali, Shaco, and Irelia. 55% winrate on any champion is indicative that the champion is out of line and her having that winrate with a high pickrate as well makes it even clearer that she's overpowered.

You don't even have to know how to play her lol. You can literally lock in Janna and go into a game and press all of your buttons and your ADC won't die even if they wanted to lol.

rtbf2256182411 votes

No, i don't care. Using the word "love tap" on a nerf is ridiculously misused. It's not a positive thing.

She's op in low elo because disengage is super-powerful there. Even an idiot can play her there. You don't need to work around anything because noone tries to avoid your abilities, your vision, your engages or whatever you do to smother them under cc-pressure.

It doesn't mean she's op in higher elo.

EcchiOtakuTM3 votes

Janna has a high win and play rate she was obviously going to be hit, let's just be happy it's only a lvl pre-7 nerf only.

rtbf2256182411 votes

55% is not a high win rate.

Being popular doesn't mean op. Why is Lee never hit then?

Jorencice5 votes

The highest in the game right now is 56%...

EcchiOtakuTM1 votes

I'll copy and paste from another disscussion

Usually nerfs/buffs are going to happen to:

Champions outside the 50%-54% win rate if play rate is under 10% Champions outside the 48%-52% win rate if play rate is above 10%

Outside of that sometimes they're nerfed because of how powerful they are in certain compositions(which mostly pros can actually pull off/pre-mades) or in other regions.

Bans also tie in, but I forgot how much of a ban rate they must be at to have some effect on getting nerfing, (I think it was 70%+ ban rate not sure.) But ban rate tells riot they need to watch those champs closely and MIGHT nerf them.

Lastly is random spur of the moment stuff. (Like due to indirect changes like reworks/items)

If you only look at one area ofc it won't be much but if you look at multiple points (Janna being high win rate, popular, strong in certain comps, and janna is highly strong in other regions) ofc she was going to get hit) Just be glad they only nerfed 4 AD pre-7.

rtbf2256182411 votes

She is strong but she is also balanced. If win-rate/popularity is so important then no wonder everyone keeps complaining about the current state of the game because usually popular champions are nerfed and Janna hasn't been touched in a long time.

EcchiOtakuTM1 votes

I just hope they don't do a retarded overnerf and slowly work on it.

But knowing the community they're impatient and want riot to nerf everything at once then complain when riot can't get around to buffing a champ to fix the nerf.

I wish riot would directly say they're slowly nerf things one week at a time, that in itself would probably quell the complainers so they can actually reasonably nerf something.

Drehirth2 votes

55% winrate not special? lol

CrazedPorcupine2 votes

4 AD at rank 1, and at rank 5, it still gives the same AD.

The nerf is minor, and honestly won't affect janna at all.

If anything it'll be a slight reduction in her 55% winrate down to oh maybe 54.7% winrate.

rtbf2256182411 votes

It's rather big considering the aggression of most supports.

CrazedPorcupine1 votes

Dude, The amount of AD the shield gives is honestly just icing for how freaking huge the shield is.

I never play Janna, but she's piss easy to play if you have even a remote idea of how to peel, her kit is so good that you could remove all damage from it and she'd still have a 50+% winrate.

Janna's Shield is is secondary to her Peeling ability. When someone who never plays janna can go 2/1/25 with her, then she's pretty strong.

I'm a Soraka and Nami Main, I never touch Janna. (I like supports that can heal over shielding). Yet I picked her into a situation where she'd be OP as hell, (Against poppy and Alistar and Zed), and Just watched as the enemy team couldn't ever touch my Cait.

The AD on the shield means nothing to me, it means next to nothing to Janna, and when it's such a minor nerf, that barely affects her laning capabilities, there's no reason to start bitching over it.

rtbf2256182411 votes

I'm assuming you played a normal game there and considering you are Gold i'm going to assume you had lower MMR in your normal game so i would find her pretty easy too against Silver opponents.

She is not about damage. She's about utility and the advantages of it. You can remove her W and Q damage and i wouldn't care at all(Maybe a little cuz that W let's me finish people off if i can't follow up with a basic attack).

The enemies sucked then. Poppy is fairly strong against Janna. Did they wait for your ultimate to be off-cooldown every time they decided to attack?

It means nothing to you because you are still in low elo. You don't have to deal with aggressive Supports.

CrazedPorcupine1 votes

Actually it was a ranked game. I was planning on picking Soraka, but then I saw their comp and was like, Know what? Soraka won't be that great, Janna will be amazing.

http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2099701919/35263578?tab=overview

you can even see it's a ranked game.

SOOOOOOOOOOOO

Yeah, Janna's really fucking strong, and these nerfs will hardly touch her.

rtbf2256182411 votes

As is Soraka is any kind of an indicator that Janna is too strong. She's like one of the easiest matchups for her, come on.

Try going against Thresh or Sona.

Athenes Lulu1 votes

I only get to give my ADC's at most ~10 bonus magic damage early in lane, which can also be blocked and deducted through resistances.

Janna's shield gives 14 AD, which is not only limited to autoattacks, but anything that scales as well. Or what many people have described, "a free BF sword". With a more powerful shield. That can be casted from a much further range. No misclicks because it is only applicable to allied champions and turrets. And no blocked shots. Only "bad" thing about her shield is that the "free BF sword" will be gone if anyone destroys her shield, which is not common in laning, and that you can't use a shitty fairy to position poking patterns that drains mana quickly anyways.

Nami's E gives people 25/40/55/70/85 bonus magic damage PLUS a slow, but is only good for 3 hits, and a window of time. No shields, only 3 uses, no positioning crap. That's not a lot compared to Janna's shield.

Not saying something should or should not be nerfed, but that's something to just consider.

Also, Janna has a constant high winrate because of how disengage in general is just good against almost everything. Tanks, ADCs, assassins, Sated shit, whatever... disengage handles all of them quite well. She isn't exactly unbalanced, but not really balanced if you are going to look at the bigger picture in terms of pickrate and winrate. Just plain ol' statistics.

And you know how Riot deals with balance, they try to nerf on the "sides" of someone's kit when someone is "too strong". For example, Veigar got his early game nerfed, though the frustration of his power comes from his ability to burst. Vayne got -3AD though she was strong because of her ability to function as a hypercarry. In this case, Janna got her little bonus AD nerfed even though disengage is her strong suit, and that it is what makes her such a strong pick.

The nerf in general is to tone down her early powers, though later game has lesser "nerf" impact.

rtbf2256182411 votes

Her disengage pattern can be used only once. If she misses it (her tornado is very easy to dodge) then it's better to just engage after that. That little W won't stop 5 people.

Her early powers are struggling against abominations such as Karma, Blitzcrank, Brand, Annie, because if they hit something then it's game over if you won't win or get out.

Jorencice2 votes

Oh come now.

Your a Janna main like me so I know your lieing.

We have MANY more ways of dealing with disengage than a single q.

Coin, ult, your passive plus captain boots giving your team 80+ ms more than the enemy team.

Getting close to the enemy team In order to bait them in another direction as you run away with 520 ms.

I'll give you karma though... hate playing against karmas.

rtbf2256182411 votes

1.Noone but me has built coin since 2015 Season start.

2.60*

3.You don't get close to the enemy team without getting hit with something, canceling your Mobility boots. And i don't see how anyone would fall for that if you're at enough health and there are low health allies nearby.

4.I don't hate Karma's i just hate the damage output when she hits me. Brand is the only counter to me though.

Jorencice2 votes

I've built coin since it came out and still do.

Ewww mobility boots... I've ran boots of swiftness for the past 3 seasons. I can hit 530 passive ms with slow resist it was and always has been better than mobility.

rtbf2256182411 votes

You can't get 530 MS unless you go Alacrity and that (maybe) hits 500. Mobility boots are faster than Swiftness, i have no idea where you got that idea that you're faster with Swiftness being faster. Mobility just requires you to not get hit or not deal hits too often.

Jorencice1 votes

There is a soft cap on ms.

The difference between swiftness and mobility at 500 ms is actually only 20 or so ms. So in a team fight swiftness Is vastly superior and out of fight mobility is only slightly better

And I get plus 510 ms literally every game. And I NEVER buy altricity.

I get ardent censor almost every game though.

rtbf2256182411 votes

The difference is 55 movement speed. Do the math. If you need invulnerability to slows/stuns then you are rather uncautious.

Ardent Censor is practically useless on Janna compared to Locket and i don't see why make Mejai's. Why do you need the ap?

Mysticman891 votes

There are diminishing returns on how much movespeed champions actually get from additional movespeed. Theres two soft caps, the second of which is at 500 ms, so the difference between 500 and 555 ms is much less than the difference between 400 and 455 ms for example, even if it's the same 55 ms difference.

Personally I do build mobi's on janna early on, but swap to lucidity later.

And AP is good on Janna, since it actually increases her utility (bigger shields, more AD, more ult healing) unlike most other supports where building AP just makes them into gold starved mid laners.

Jorencice1 votes

Locket and ardent censor are 2 different items...

Use censor for the ap ms cdr and little bit of bonus damage.

Also ap is godly on janna.

A 500 health shield which give 100 plus ad on a 6 second cd is amazing.

Not to mention her ult heals like 300 a tick with enough ap which if all 5 people stand in it is like 4k to 5k health

AND it increases her move speed an amazing amount.

Although I don't recommend a soul stealer unless you are damn good at not dieing. I average 1.5 deaths a game so I can easily get 20-25 stacks.

rtbf2256182411 votes

AP is useless on Janna. An utility Janna can completely disable an ap Janna in terms of team control.

Her damage is nothing and her shield doesn't scale fast enough.

Tell me, can a Talisman outrun Frost Queen's ghosts? Yes it can.

Can Locket negate the damage of her W? Yes it can. And it can do that on multiple targets.

And not everyone makes full use of her ultimate 500 heal it's like at the best case scenario and you don't always get the opportunity to just stand there for 3 seconds.

Plus it doesn't benefit her tornado either as that's what you max last. Utility allows you to get closer to actually do something with it offensively.

I had 0 average deaths in Silver. Want a medal?

Jorencice1 votes

Well you've started personal attacks in a otherwise civilized debate.

I'm done cya.

rtbf2256182411 votes

I didn't attack you. I simply said, your "statistic" is nothing special considering the level of playing you're dealing with.

I'll take that as a forfeit then.

Mysticman891 votes

Builds are of course situational, but I rarely encounter situations where theres aoe magic burst hitting multiple people the locket active would be ideal for. With 150 AP, you get an all purpose shield every 10 seconds (actually much more often due to cdr) that shields the same amount as the locket would, and the locket is only useable every 60 seconds (or slightly less with ruby sightstone). It's single target versus multiple yes, but in most of my experience it's only one person actually getting slapped by the magic damage anyway. (This is especially true given the current meta currently favoring ad champs.)

I personally do prefer the talisman line over FQC, but that's likely a matter of playstyles. FQC can get you picks even in fog of war, plus if you're a pokey Janna then it's likely more gold generation than talisman. Talisman is good for teamwide escapes/engages, and allows for a more passive approach to laning due to the health you get.

The heal on her ult is just a bonus compared to the displacement, but the difference in healing/tick between a janna with ap and a pure utility item janna is pretty significant, and it can be what saves a low health ally being tunneled on. The full heal being chanelled is rarely possible, but what you can heal up can turn a teamfight around almost as much as the aoe displacement did.

I acknowledge the ap for her tornado is basically useless the majority of the time. I have been at level 18 late game chunking people with fully charged nados with a AP-ish janna build, but games rarely last that long.

Her w however does give her increasing passive movement speed with AP, and more movement speed means more zipping around the map to shield an ally in need (and with an even bigger shield thanks to the ap at that).

At 15 stacks mejais also gives bonus movement speed, which is also quite fun to make an already nearly unkillable/uncatchable janna more so. I rarely have issue getting 15+ stacks so far in mid-high gold so it's consistently a gold efficient source of ap/movespeed.

I'm assuming you have multiple accounts since you've mentioned life in plat elo various times, but I notice you're only gold 1 on this account. I also notice you've got a 50% win rate on janna this season with 'only' a 3.2 average kda. Shouldn't you have a somewhat inflated kda/win rate if you're used to plat level of janna play though? I'm mid-high gold myself and favour a more AP flavored build (although I'll situationaly build some utility-ish items as needed -I'll get banner for utility if the team needs an aegis), and have a 60% win rate on janna and a 5.69 average kda, which seems to suggest that AP is more effective than your utility item focused builds. (Incidentally our mmr is very similar, with mine being slightly deflated currently due to a string of games with dc's, but we're still within 50 points, so theoretically getting matched against the same level opponents.)

That said though, my particular build preferences and your particular build preferences don't matter as we're not competing, and there are lots of different play styles, and they can all be viable in different ways. I'm not necessarily saying AP flavored janna builds are objectively better, but they're certainly not useless which is my point. (Also, "Janna mechanics" is a master level janna main who builds even more AP than I do [even neglecting sightstone sometimes which horrifies me but apparently it works], so it seems to work even at the top levels of non-pro play.)

I am jealous of your particular tiers name being a thematically appropriate 'janna's warriors'.

rtbf2256182411 votes

Why do you think Locket is only good against AP damage? It's a true shield and i'm mostly referring to anyone with aoe or in teamfights in general.

Well you said 500 hp on full tick right? Let's see..locket 250 damage + Mikael's...yeah that goes over that, loses disables and you can activate them faster than in 3 seconds the ultimate winds up in.

You're basically powerless on your team if you're ap because only you benefit from it and your AP damage is miniscule anyway because nothing scales on her, well. You're just a gold-starved mid-laner by 30 minutes that does no damage compared to anyone. You'd also have to get incredibly close to them as if you're ad Karthus.

No, i transferred from EUNE so i got 2 hard-resets on my rank which was Platinum III. Haven't played Janna in low elo because people can't cooperate. I mean who the hell would know what to do with utility in Gold V?

You can't bring higher-elo players as an example against me for i have played in 2 Challenger arranged Tournaments with my Janna "mechanics" when i was Gold V in EUNE...and won. Btw i was just a team captain back then and we mostly won because of my predictions not my mechanical skill. My build was the same though.

I don't see anyone in whatever rank better than me on Janna because of my proficiency on her. Ironically, i have no skill on playing her for the kills(AP Mid) or going AD.

Mysticman891 votes

Locket builds from aegis, which isn't really gold efficient against single ap comps. The locket shield covers all kinds of damage yes, but as a relatively gold starved support gold efficiency is something that you should be considering.

500 hp worth of shield was a rough number someone else mentioned but it sounds reasonable to me. That's the amount on the shield though, not the ult healing, and so is instant, and has a low cooldown. Locket has a 60 second cooldown, and mikaels (which is rarely gold efficient) has a 180 cooldown, so you're essentially rendering yourself relatively powerless for the next minute or 3.

The ult heals roughly 300 per second, so 900 over the 3 sdeconds if you get to fully channel, plus that could be that much for the entire team so 4.5k health restored potentially. Even assuming you only get to channel for 1 second as is often more realistic, that's still 1.5k health in a team fight.

Saying only Janna benefits from her ap is simply false. Bigger shields, more AD, bigger heals, faster movespeed are all utility flavored benefits, the first 3 of which will benefit team members much more often then Janna herself, and the movespeed is useful for getting her to the teammates to provide those things. I don't think anyone has suggested that janna should build AP so she can do damage directly.

Transfering doesn't actually hard reset your mmr (or even soft reset it), your mmr is transfered with you. Your resulting rank will differ because different regions have different mmr standards, so plat elo in one region may only be up to gold standards in another, but it's the same elo, and so the same skill level players on average.

That said, you explicitly said you averaged 0 deaths in silver. So were you intentionally being misleading in that you'd never played janna in silver, or were you simply lieing? The latter seems much more likely considering how much you die in gold (which you attribute to lack of team cooperation), and silver is even worse at cooperating.

You've claimed multiple times that AP janna is powerless/useless compared to utility item janna, and I'm proposing that the existence of master+ janna mains who build exclusively AP (as support) is evidence that that is false. Are you suggesting that those players simply don't know better, and it's just that they're so much better than everyone else that they can win despite having an inferior build? Do you think that if they tried a more utility focused build, they'd be even more effective and start showing up at the worlds level?

I don't know of anyone who plays seriously plays Janna mid lane or as AD, so all that is particularly relevant to the discussion is what is effective for support Janna. I, and many other Janna support mains, feel AP offers a lot of consistent utility on her without any long cd gates, and is definitely an effective approach to support Janna. I also recognize that a utility item focused Janna isn't useless and can be effective as well. I feel AP is more effective, but that's harder to objectively say, and may be playstyle dependent. You by contrast feel utility builds are more effective, which is fine, but at the same time you also seem to be suggesting that AP builds are ineffective, which seems to fly in the face of evidence.

Gold efficiency? I'm never gold starved because i supply myself by making enemies die - assists. I honestly can't remember the last time i was behind my item schedule.

The amount of resources you use to build ap on the shield sacrifices a ton of utility just for a bigger shield and Mikael's is my 5th item. I use it in teamfights and that's not where all my power comes from...lol.

Doesn't matter. You're trading too much good stuff to be a potential aoe taric healer with a shield. Just play Soraka or Sona then or anyone with a heal/shield.

You don't understand. I didn't know i had to play 1 provisional ( which i lost) and then i also got hard resetted from Gold II to Gold V.

It even displays i ended in Gold II last season like wth i was Platinum IV.

I'm pretty sure of that as i succeeded against a team consisting of 2 DIamond Is a Master and 2 Challengers when i was Gold V with this build and at least half of my current skill at the time. It requires amazing coordination as they're mostly active items though so i don't play her at lower elo..too risky(I was in Teamspeak as the shotcaller so that's why i decided to play Janna during the tournament).
