"Blame the support" mentality -- Why I'm leaving support.

Supports generally have the highest CC and lowest damage on the team. This is due to lack of damage in items, dependability on team mates, and inability to do damage based on their kit.

Top lane goes 0/5: it's the support's fault because they didn't help. Team engages on a bad teamfight with poor positioning: It's the support's fault for not snaring and engaging the backline.

Even in lane its bad.

ADC dies: Support sucks, plz report. Enemy gets a successful gank: Support sucks, plz report. Jungle tries to gank with a warded river and the enemy not in sight: "report support, no wards"

No matter what the support does, they get blamed for the team's mistakes, reguardless of their impact on the situation or even if they could do anything.

Congratulations, you have lost another support main. Have fun in your 10+ minute Ques while this continues to happen.

Everybody has bad games, and that's usually when toxic players want to attack you. If you know you aren't bad and just had a shitty game, ignore them and don't worry about it; your next game will be better. Even I've had a handful of games where I'm told never to play Support again, but I know I'm actually good at it so I ignore them and go on to have my next team call me a god Nami.

They are going to be toxic regardless of what role you were in if you perform really poorly. They are the ones that need to fix their attitude, and you can focus on trying to not make the same mistakes next time around.

Supports have the highest cc? Wow, I've been playing support wrong this whole time. I always use Nidalee

I am talking about actual supports. You can't count a mage you take into the bot lane as a support.

Just because you take Teemo bot lane and say you're support, doesn't mean you're support. It means you're just in the bot lane.

based on your post and where its focused I get the feeling that I should be happy you are no longer a support.

Actually, I am a pretty good support. I am able to feed my carry pretty well. 80% of games I can. It's the 20% where I don't agree with the decisions that the team is making where I can't do well.

lol I checked your match history and you made this post after you went 1/12 in normals.

I'm really sorry but seriously if you are going to get butthurt over a normal game then just don't play lol

"What happened to this guy?? Oh he went poorly in a game?? Lets blame him with no context and ignore the post."

Well I mean, what can Riot do? Buff supports so they become OP solo laners or OP bot duos? Ban every guy who says anything bad about supports? That would have to translate to all roles to be fair and we end up with a game rated E for Everybody.

I play plenty of League, and I never see the support get blamed. Only one that does it may be an ADC that is either salty or the support really is making mistakes. Now, if your top laner goes 0/5, but you as Thresh miss a bunch of hooks, he can still call you out on it. Poor performance does not relinquish one's ability to critique/criticize. But I've had 0 games where I've lost and the team just goes "Shitty supp, only reason". USually just the ADC, and I would almost accuse you of hyperbolizing this matter.

You can blame Riot, or us in general, but in reality, you quitting the support role doesn't individually affect anything. People that play support do it for two reasons. Either shorter queue, or they love it. And supports have always faced this issue since the game came out, namely from ADCs. The people that love supp tend to love the more passive, assisting playstyle and won't easily just switch over. I'd say our queue times are relatively safe.

Riot can:

  1. Give the support independence from the laner so they can survive being caught out.
  2. Give the support some actual support items that are actually useful if you're not a healer.
  3. Stop nerfing good supports in favor of the ones they have changed (They just nerfed Braum shortly before Leona rework came out)

Independence turns them into jungle, top and mid. Dependence is the whole point of the support. They're champions that drive another's progress. Soraka keeps the damage alive so it keeps going, Leona protects the damage, same as Braum, Nami does a combination of those but not as well and helps them do a bit more damage.

Supports aren't meant to solo. That's why you don't see champs like zed or Ahri or Gangplank as effective supports. Their kits support solo play.

I mean, they have lots of items. They have support specific items each uniquely helping the team. They have other items such as locket, censor, sight stone, crucible, etc. No support can have a full build of pure support items because there's no need. Healers get more items because tank supports can use tank items and be perfectly fine, but healers don't synergize as effectively with AP.

Braum was dominant. They nerfed him. His numbers supported his balance. So happened that Leona was reworked too. And he's still a great support. Not like they broke him.

report support sounds really good to say in your mouth it rhymes so well but yeah, it sucks when things like that happen
