Flex Queue matchmaking?

Is this only happening to me? people on my team are Bronze 1 and on the enemy team I've found even gold players O.o I know it works off of MMR but how does gold players have such a low MMR as to be matched against bronze???? I'm in the middle of the pack and there is always a disparity in skill amongst my team, which is fine but then you check the enemy and they are all pretty equal but a lot higher on the ladders? like... what? why??

I know almost no one cares for flex queue though but I just find it odd
