Janna and Nami are the best example how powerfull cast and travel time is in this game.

Both Champions do litterally the same thing, their kit is as similar as it can get without being a copy, Nami even wins hard by numbers alone, she heals instead of shield and her Ult has more range...

And still Janna wins in popularity and winrate.

Basicly all because all of Jannas CC is instant (unless you wish to charge the Q) while Nami has a delay.

No, I am not asking to buff one or nerf the other, I just noticed, there is no better example in the game to show how important cast and/or travel time of spells is.

Lux and Morg are the two most similar kits (and the ways they are dissimilar is how you manage to get differing build paths for them, so they're fine).

I'd say Sona is closer to Nami than Janna is. Except that Nami is usable and whenever anyone has a good game with Sona she gets nerfed.

jannas ult has always felt more impactful in terms of peeling

it knocks you a mile away and heals her entire team at the same time

meanwhile nami just sort of bops you with hers

Janna has permanent move speed, Nami doesn't. Janna's shield gives an AD steroid built in, Nami has a separate ability that gives an onhit that doesn't work with abilities with AD ratios. Janna's knockup has longer range and hits everything in a line, Nami's Q hits only a small area. Janna has a targeted slow in addition to her knockup (not counting ults). Nami's slow is part of her onhit, which means it only works if the person you give the onhit to then attacks the champion you want to slow. Unless you're casting it on yourself you can't count on this.

Not saying Nami is worse in every way (for example she can heal two people and apply Windseeker's to both while also giving them both her passive MS steroid, if the positioning is right), but it's not like she's better in every way either.

Janna's QQ is only instant at point blank range though, otherwise there's a travel time.

I play both Janna and Nami and I've never thought they were very similar. Anyone who thinks Nami is a peel support only does not know her kit very well. Nami is closer to Sona than Janna, and Janna is closer to Lulu than Nami.
