Cassiopea counterplay

Hi, i recently had the "pleasure" to play normal game vs Cassiopea on top and here are some thoughts about her:

In my opinion, she extremly lack any possible counterplay if you arent champion with gap closer. Her cooldowns, even early, are so low and mana cost also so low, that she isnt punished a bit, when she miss her abilities. If she tryes to land her Q on you (aoe poison with 4! sec cd) and you dodge it (runs back a turn around after she miss), when you are anywhere ner her to land at lesast 600range spell, her CD is already back again and can Q-E-E you. Cost of her spells is also extremly low, and combined with 3% max mana restore on twin fang unit kill, it means her mana pool is almost endless if she isnt pushed hard out of creeps. She was supposed to become late game carry, but right now, she is early game bully with no possible counterplay.

At lvl 4, she gets back 15 mana for kill, combined with dorans, its 2-3 creep kills to restore Q mana cost. Almost all other mana casters are punished if they miss a skillshot (being vunlerable because of long CD and mana lose for nothing - Cass doesnt have neither of this problem, she just lasthit 2 creeps 3 sec later and is back in bussines exactly where she was after missing Q onchampion, on top with creep kills and sama mana) I thinkg her Q should cost more mana or have longer CD (more mana looks better)

So.. what do you think guys?

Yea ur just bad at the matchup. She's so mana hungry u just need to sustain in the lane. If u keep getting hit with the small ale poison you need to build more move speed to get away from it. Cass has many bad matchups and many good ones.

She's a short ranged immobile hyper carry. Come on

Better nerf Sona.

No, seriously, in early game she's pretty strong, but if she misses her Q, she can be all-ined super easy. She's also super squishy, so in top lane she can't have an easy time often. Also, her power curve is strange and she falls off late game somehow. Just start with item 1001 or item 2041, if you're scared.

EDIT: Strashu will nerf her the next patch.

Basically laning against Cassiopeia is a timer, you dodge all lane until she lands one Q, eventually you make a mistake cause it's impossible not to and she 100-0's you. This timer starts are level 2 and lasts the entire lane phase. Her early game is way to strong and right now they are making it stronger by reducing the early game cost of her E and increasing it late game.

It's also insanely hard to all in a Cassi cause of just how much damage she does, trying to farm from range basically just causes you to zone yourself as well, since trying to farm with just abilities will cause you to go OOM. Essentially her only weakness is being ganked.

Other than the gapclosers that you and others have mentioned, taking a longer range mage (Ziggs, Xerath, Lux, etc.) lets you stay out of her range and poke and waveclear. Even when you have to get close, keep moving and try to stay away from minions so she has to choose between hitting you or the minions.

If you see her Q/W a wave so she can mana regen with E, that is a (small) window to get close enough for a quick trade. Occasionally, you may also see her cast E on a non-poisoned target. Good players won't if they think a fight might be coming, but it's something to watch for as another window.

FWIW, she does have mana cost increases on PBE, which will help this issue some if you can keep her from last hitting with E.

It's very easy to beat her as Irelia. I play Cass top a lot and champs who can relocate before Q land are very punishing to Cass

If you see the animation from her Q, just use your Q to relocate to her and stun her. As you stun her, don't stand in one stop waiting for her ULT/W to land. Always stutter step over her, you can abuse her bad hit box and animation that she can't land it no matter what. In top lane it's also a lot easier to gank her. So ask jungle to gank her

If cass gets beat at level 1-5, you are likely always going to beat her in a trade after that. Her dmg doesn't really go up till about 15 min into the game. They tend to build, Dorans>Tears>Boots> FIRST item for dmg or hp
