Armor penetration

So, with the changes to the last whisper and it's newly introduced upgrades.. They are only working on bonus armor but what about the base armor values? What about the assassins? An assassin's job is to kill the nemy squishies as fast as possiblebut when everyone has 80 or so base armor and you only work on bonus armor, you need a lot of flat pen to actualy do your job. And when i say a lot, i mean a lot.... You need a fully stacked black cleaver, a youmu's ghostblade, 19 flat armor pen in runes, a last whisper upgrade item in order to do what you could do with last whisper as it is now, a youmu's ghostblade and your armor pen in runes... so now, in a teamfight, you need to go face to face, hit them 6 times do all your damage and only then will they have an effective armor that let's you do your job... In a 1v1 skirmish, it could do the job, but in a tamfight??? what are we supposed to do? And, ok, there is some flat armor pen in masteries, but that's just 8.4 at level 18, and to get that, you need to go full utility tree and no offence... So.... what exactly arethe assassins supposed to do? Either make an item that works on total armor and make it available only to the assassins if you think that Marksmen will be too stong with it, or add more flat armor pen... And mages still have that void staff to go through all of the opponent's magic resist on top of everyone having ridiculously low base magic resist value of either 30 at all levels or 53.4 at level 18. Marksmen are supposed to be easy to kill if you get close to them, but not graves... 30 armor stacking up to 4 times from true grit and stacking instantly with quickdraw? So, at level 18, with scaling armor runes and a item 3026 he gets 275 armor.... That is 3 armor more than a garen with a item 3742 , a item 3068 , a item 3143 a fully stacked W and 9 armor seals at level 18. RIOT PLS!!! What is this??? Riot pls, how is this in any way balanced??? an ADC with only 1 defensive item having more armor than a tank with 3 core items??? Is this realy "balance"??? is that what you call "healthy" gameplay and stats??? Oh please...

It's still legitimate even when it gets to the end.

not really, he has to e 4 times to get those resistances and he is typically not building much hp making them not nearly as valuable as they sound, he also is basically melee, meaning he shouldn't be able to get that many spell rotations

Well, the graves part was the blow up... As an assassin main, i made an example, i overdid it tho but ye, it didn't end exactly as i wanted to end... I got a bit carried away. Graves is not as strong as other adc champions now but, after the armor pen changes and the new true grit, he will become too strong. But, who cares about graves. What really made me go mad like that was the armor pen changes. They completely fuk up the armor pen and then they also fuk up every burst mageand AD assassin with the item that reduces burst damage... Even yasuo will be relatively weak vs squishy opponents with decent base stats. His ult passive also works on bonus armor but when they have some armor and with your ult and last whisper item they end up having an effective armor value of 100+ it completely fuks up your damage. Also, there is the randuin's omen, an ADC can get a randuin's against you and with their high base armor, they will completely shut down your passive. But yasuo is the least of my worries.

What really bugs me is the situation the AD assassins are right now. While void staff still deals with total mr, AP based champions still have a lot of flat pen choices. Boots, and items, and while more AD items have some armor pen, Every champion has low base mr values. They either have 30 at all levels or they will have 53.4 at level 18. With sorc boots and runes, you have 23 flat pen and against most champions, you will deal almost true damage at all levels and if it is someone like brand or rumble, with the liandrys rushed, they will do true damage. Switching to AP will be a lot more viable after the patch goes live. It's totaly unfair. The enemy leblanc will delete my ADC in a skirmish but as an AD assassin i won't be able to do tha same while also having less power and higher cooldowns than a leblanc... I think you get my point by now...

AD assassins will have to change carreers and go jobhunting...

yeah the changes to last whisper make it so that there isn't any way to deal with a bruiser that has good base armor or even just mr stacking tanks (other than black cleaver)

As an AD caster assassin, your target isn't the enemy bruiser. It's the enemy AP/AD mid, assassin or mage, and their ADC... both mages and AP/AD assassins and adcs are squishy and have more than 80 base armor. This made the total armor % penetration really important and helped you do your job. Assassinate them as fast as possile. Now, with the armor pen changes and with such high base stats, they need 1 defensive item to effectively reduce your damage output by 30-40%. That is a big reduction and will force you to spend a lot of time to get your job done, If you actualy manage to get the kill. And with all those nerfs to tenacity, armor pen and with the dominance of hard hitting bruisers and hard cc supports and mages, picking AD assassins mid will be a troll pick.... I don't like how this is going to be...

The game has started to lose it's identity and definition.

Tanks have to soak up damage and peel for their carries, Assassins must kill high priority targets fast and either escape or die in the proccess but they must be able to kill squishies fairly easily and quickly, AP mages/control mages have to bombard the enemy team with damage from safe distance and locking them down with cc, AP assassins have to do what AD assassins have to do, they are the same but with different damage source, and AD Marksmen have to clean up what is left and hit the opposition from afar... That's how it should be... An ADC that gets caught out of position by an assassin should die or outplay them. If the assassin is fed, they should die with little effort. If the ADC is also fed, it should keep their distance and kill them before they can get near. With those changes, assassins will not be able to kill their primary targets.

So, i must get ready for it... Everyone will consider me troll for playing zed after patch 5.22
