How does Future Market work?

How does it work exactly?

How does this 50 dollar fee work?

Do you have to pay back the loans?

So let's say... first back I take the "free" loan and "borrowed" 150 to buy an item. This loan is "free" but do I have to pay real 150 dollars at a later point?

Is it really lending/borrowing money or am I just getting FREE MONEY?

Also... let's say I come back after the free loan and I wanted to use -175. How does the 50 dollar charge apply? I just lose 50 dollars that's it?

Quite simply, 50g will be added to your debt. It's triggered by the fact of being negative in gold when you leave the fountain.

Thus every time you would make a purchase that would put you in the negative, 50g is slapped onto that debt. This extends your ability to buy expensive items, with less actual gold. However, this comes at the cost of losing money for it.

The first loan being free means that when you go in the negative for the first time, you won't get a 50g fee slapped on. Thus you can go back and get a item 1058 Needlessly Large Rod with 1100g and your debt would only be -150g. However, if you tried again with 1100g afterwards, your debt would be -200g. Which means you paid 1300g for that second rod.

So you essentially need to farm up more to make up for that deficit. If having the **FIRST ** item quicker would mean you could be making more money quicker, then that is the optimal purchase for Future's Market. The main benefit is that allows you to obtain items much quicker at the price of 50g for every item you would go negative purchasing.

if I buy a Deathcap, do I get charged 50 dollars or 50 x number of components?

So I DO have to pay back the negatives?

But 50 dollars? Isn't that really little? I mean, 50 gold in late game? Isn't that like 2 minions?

You do have to pay back the negatives. You aren't saving yourself any money when going in debt. You are simply buying it quicker.

Understand that the 50g deficits occur as soon as you leave base. You will get a 50g indication when you leave base with negative gold. It is entirely your choice to go negative and incur a debt.

To be perfectly accurate, it's 50g x number of times you left base with negative gold.

The cost may seem small, but if you go in debt over stupid things like buying item 2003 health potions, you can find that cost being quite burdensome.

So then its good on Viktor if I really want that Hex 1 faster (but less of a good deal on other mages?)

Indeed, it all depends on how important the items are to rush. Since Hex 1 is pretty cheap it's an item Viktor Viktor can take advantage of almost immediately.

However, other mages can opt to not go negative over the components, but rather go negative for the complete item for cases like item 3027 Rod of Ages.

In general, this rune is useful for items worth rushing.

Is this a joke thread or am I not understanding your question?

You can pay a certain amount into negative gold numbers to buy an item, but you go into debt for what you borrowed + 50g. So if you're at -175g after making a purchase you can't spend any more gold until you hit positive numbers again through CS or ambient gold.

You basically have an extra ~200g to spend, and the limit can't be exceeded.

Or in other words, you can have "negative gold". Doesn't work at the very start of the game, though. The "debt" scales up the longer the game lasts.

What happens if you buy something into debt and don't have time to pay it off, i.e. the match ends right after, though that isn't likely? Does it continue to next game?

Nope, doesn't have any effect on a future game. You just end the game with negative gold, it doesn't really matter.

so would it be strong on champs with weak early games? i feel like Kassadin would be able to duel much better pre-6 with an item advantage item 1058 over his opponent or would it not be worth it on these champs if it would hinder their late game scaling potential?

I believe Kassadin is currently pretty restricted to Yellow primaries and Red secondaries. This seems to be the main combination (Yellow for attack speed and healing... Red for lifesteal). This is probably to help bolster his early laning and opportunistic dueling. I expect without either, the champion would feel "off"

Fleet from yellow plus the healing supplements from Red gives a ton of sustain (making you hard to duel).

I've seen Resolve secondary taken for a more defensive approach in bad matchups but its almost always Yellows and Reds.

In most cases I think its in a state where its a great even for champs that use the Inspiration secondary.

From what I've seen, its usually 2 of Cosmic Insight (the 5% CDR), Biscuits (for a lot of Supports), Minion Demat, and the Boots runes (its like a 1 time Futures Market but gives permanent MS).
