Galio's Ultimate is too situational

I understand and like the reason for Galio's ultimate. It is meant to save an ally from certain death, or in other words, counter-engage. Plus, its thematically accurate to Galio's lore. He wants to protect and make a heroic entrance.

However, its not the most reliable ultimate or form of counter-engage in the game. If you were to compare Galio's global ultimate to Shen's, the more reliable ultimate would be Shen's. For the reasons it travels WITH the champion and it does not have a limited range that scales with level.

More of the story, in my opinion Galio's ultimate is too situational. It does not compete with other Global ultimates as well as Shen's or Pantheon's.

The point isn't the counter engage. Its just there to save a teammate. You give your teammate a resistance buff and fly to their location. The only point of the knock up is to threaten the enemy with a bad time if they continue.

A lot of people think the point is to knock up the whole team in some flashy play. Its not. The knock up is supposed to be a deterrent from continuing to try to kill your ally than anything else.

One thing to keep in mind is Galio's resistance buff is not the same as Shen's shield. Shen can save someone at low health, but even with a resistance buff, no one will survive at low health with galio's ult, so you should use it as soon as they engage on your ally, not after, this way your ally is going to be able to make use of the knockup and thus the deterrent is more threatening.
