ADVICE NEEDED: Poppy VS Cho'Gath

As of late, I've been using poppy as my top laner. So far I've been doing well with her. However, Cho'Gath currently is my struggleBus.

I would really appreciate any advice on how to lane against him.

As in: • What items to purchase. • How to lane against him. • What spells to use.

Hmm. No Poppy player myself, but I can give you a few general pointers against Cho:

  • Generally, build MR and some HP. item 3211, item 3155 and their upgrades are good to have against Cho.
  • Early boots are a boon, as well. Rupture is powerful and hits like a truck, but is also quite dodgeable. Stay on the move and try to not be too predictable in your pattern.
  • Cho lanes are generally farm lanes in their 1vs1. He can kill you if he lands Rupture, especially if you go in on him, but mostly, he'll not be able to.
  • Combined with a damaging jungler, you should be able to take him down pre-6 in a gank, especially with the CC Poppy provides. Post-6, if you let him stack Feast, it will be a lot harder.
  • Cho's Feral Scream has a very deceptive hit box, in the regard that you're acquired as a target at the beginning of the cast, not when the animation shows.

Just Remember all of your advantages from abilities. Q can slow, and chunk a bit W is speed and at times anti-gank E can be used to stun (Given) but also as escape. Simply use against minions. R, well I'm sure you can think of that. Just remember you DONT have to charge it. Sorry if this is annoyingly-repeated. As for builds, vs AP Cho A item 3155 can be very useful VS tank go Tanky but possibly item 3035 or item 3036

Outright, you will not win lane. Cho'gaths entire concept is winning lane, and has the sustain to do so. In turn, Poppys damage output is surprisingly high, you might be able to cheese a kill.

  • Cho'gath ulti at rank 1 is approx. 300 true damage. And, with the semi-recent changes, he will usually have the ability up if he's eating minions.
  • Roam. Try to make plays in other lanes, Cho'gath is incredibly hard to all-in / poke out.
  • Don't buy hexdrinker. The magic shield procs when you're at 30% of your max hp. If hexdrinker shield procs, odds are you're low enough for him to ult.

Go tank Poppy - focus on the fact that you'll be more useful late game than he is. Focus HP first before resist considering his ultimate deals true damage.

Cho'gath is really annoying, what with his passive sustaining him through the entire lane. The good ones will literally just ignore you and farm all lane, get to 6 stacks, and THEN fight you when you're still not too tanky from only having one tank item, maybe half of another one
