Autofill Is Terrible, Here Is Why:

Just gotta do this from time to time I guess, because it's the only way to blow off some of the steamy, steamy hatred that I build up over time regarding this worst part of League.

Common experiences include:

  • Get queued for the lane you want five times in a row
  • Other people dodge five times in a row
  • Get autofilled
  • Play game in lane you didn't want to play with character you didn't want to play.

Also fun:

  • Get autofilled for the one position you really suck at
  • No one wants to trade, so dodge
  • Get autofilled for same shitty position, rinse and repeat

And then my favorite:

  • Get autofilled to position you suck at and no one wants to trade
  • Decide to be a good sport and play it anyway
  • Do terribly because you're playing at way too high an ELO for your skill in that position
  • Get flamed and blamed when your team loses

And then sometimes you're not the one to get autofilled. Hooray, right? NOPE:

  • Get lane you want
  • Teammate gets autofilled to lane they suck at
  • Feeds or ragequits, lose game anyway
  • Probably get autofilled next game because you're not autofill protected anymore

OR:

  • Get lane you want
  • Enemy gets autofilled to lane they suck at
  • Feeds or ragequits, have piss-easy game that is boring
  • Probably get autofilled next game because you're not autofill protected anymore

FINAL SCORE: Hours wasted on unsatisfying games and queue dodges: Uncountable Saltiness: Maximum

Seriously, this is the shittiest system League has. It makes the game worse no matter who is affected by it - you, your teammates, even the enemy team. I have literally spent thirty minutes re-queuing for games because other people were dodging autofills. How the fluttering fuck is this better than chilling with a youtube video for fifteen-twenty minutes and then getting into a game where you (and everyone else) get to play the roles they/you actually enjoy?? Can anyone please explain to me what possible net benefit this has?

i have to agree with the first example. it happens WAY TOO OFTEN. i get my role legit 3-5 times in a row but someone dodges/doesnt ban/pick and then i get autofilled. if you get your role for the first time, it shouldnt not matter if someone dodges. you should get that role again.

I don't understand the downvotes. This is way too true. I've had one too many games where players did pretty bad not because they were actually bad, but because they were autofilled into roles they didn't want/didn't know.

If Riot wants to put autofill just in higher ELO (diamond+) since I know they have pretty long queue times, fine. But it makes no sense for lower ELO to have to get autofills when the max is like 2:00 for queues. Even if you aren't the person getting autofilled, it can still affect your game when it's someone on your team who has been autofilled.
