@Riot context on Urgot changes? They seem more like a nerf than anything
I picked up Urgot after the rework and have been playing him constantly. He's easily my second favorite champ after Tahm now (sorry Vlad!!).
Urgot was in need a buff, but only a small little one. Most Urgot mains (myself included) were thinking something along the lines of a damage increase on the Q, or a lowered mana cost to incentivize maxing it over W, which is what you do 100% of the time now. The E and W Qol buffs were great and helped him after his weak release, although he was still a weak top laner. Then you made Sterak's melee-only.....which is fine, provided Urgot got some substantial buffs to compensate as Steraks was core. One idea I saw floated around was to remove some of the gatings on the W, such as lessening the self slow and beefing up the shield to compensate for the removal of Steraks (an undeniably core item on Urgot, no matter what Riot seemed to think). Add onto that a pitiful pick-win ratio, and you had a top laner who could use a bit of love.
What did we get?
His damage literally cut in half until level 11. The compensation 'buff'? Nothing until about the same time, which doesn't matter anyway because the damage is still worse. And its not like Urgot is in it for those 30-second brawls where he can proc his legs multiple times to compensate for this total gutting of his DPS - he E-W-Rs and you die. Half the time you don't even bother to use Q because of how bad of a spell it is. A .35 reduction on the delay is nice, but you didn't make it better as a spell at all. Its still just as bad but just comes out a fraction of a second faster? Also, it costs more mana in the early game? I never had significant mana problems playing Urgot before, now I could feel myself really struggling to stay topped off after only casting it a few times, which would not have affected me too much before. Playing on the PBE these changes just don't feel good at all - I feel like I'm being cheated out of a good idea for a buff (lowered leg CD) by a slew of compensation nerfs.
The increased ult speed doesn't actually do anything either. 90% of the time you are ulting point blank on the poor soul you flipped (who is stunned and thus you'd have to be pretty boosted to miss). Going for those long range picks with it are supposed to be hard - the range is very generous for a Juggernaut, and so is the hitbox. It isn't particularly fast nor is it slow, so you're rewarded for landing it - a middling skilshot with generous range. Increasing the speed just makes it easier for him to do something he isn't really actually doing all that often (plus, as Urgot ults from farther away, the reaction time for a tanky and/or healthy teammate to body block increases, meaning its easier to whiff regardless).
The changes feel like a total copout. It just makes Urgot objectively worse in early laning (which is crucial, as Urgot must secure a lead and roam to be effective) and while he technically does some of his shit a bit faster its no worse or better. You removed one of the core items on an already mediocre top laner who was in need of buffs since the rework, then took away most of his early damage, upped the mana cost on his Q, in exchange for a tad bit of speed on a champ that's supposed to be a slow, lumbering beast.
In theory, does a 2.5 leg CD in the lategame sound nice? Hell yeah. That's twice as fast as normal at 40% CDR, which Urgot has no trouble reaching. (or just about). You could have literally just gone through with that, maybe some more QoL on the W, and Urgot would be fine without overbearing, since he's just kited and CCed to death lategame anyway. Instead, you tacked along a ton of other nerfs to 'compensate' on an already not-too-stellar champ - this coming from the same company that instantly reverted well-deserved Fiora nerfs the moment she couldn't universally slaughter everyone because of Bramble Vest.
I'd really appreciate some context on this and whether there's a chance these changes could be reverted or in the very least changed, because they don't feel good and are not the right direction for Urgot changes.
