Hecarim's late game

I heard that Hecarim 's a powerful late game champ, but I never really saw any vids demonstrating his supposed late game might. I'm looking for a late game jungler and he caught my eye.

So, how is he a late-game champ and is he worth buying?

Worth buying, though you've got to know your strengths. Hec' ganks aren't the best around, when he hits 6 his ganking potential soars, but you still need your laner to participate or else the enemy will just get away. A lot of people tend to build him tank, this is a bad idea, you need two or even three good damage items if you want to be especially effective. With him having relatively little CC for a tank, you need to bring some damage to the fight. Just remember, Spirit of Dread makes you a lot tankier than you look due to it's heal.
For builds, AD reds, armor yellows, mr blues, two cdr quints and one ms quint. 6/21/3 masteries. The three are for the move speed mastery as it works excellently with Hec thanks to his passive. Items can go many ways. Elder Lizard is a must. From here you can go tri-force, bc, then spirit visage, randuins and merc treads. Or you can go iceborn, youmuu's, spirit, randuins and mercs. Or even iceborn, maw of malmortius, spirit, randuins and mercs. You have a little flexibility in your build, though imo spirit visage is pretty core on Hec.

I personally build him tank, so he doesn't exactly do tons of damage. He has two cc abilities and good jungle clear due to his high mobility and Q which goes on a lower cool down which stacks up to two times after it makes contact with a unit. His fear was nerfed back in season 3 and it's just never been the same (on his ult). He is great for getting objectives, quick ganks, and is the best pony in the League of Legends. You can build him AD, but I just don't recommend it unless your team is stacked with tanks or you desperately need damage.

But, back to the late-game thing, he isn't a powerhouse, but definitely a fun champ to play. I recommend testing my build item 3207 item 3265 item 3068 item 3065 item 3083 item 3143 but if you insist on damage go item 3209 item 3270item 3078 item 3068 item 3035 item 3065. The spirit visage is great because of the healing bonus associated with his W and the sun fire cape just naturally does damage to nearby units. Also, go with summoner 4 instead of summoner 6 ... the ghost gives temporary bonus AD (passive) but the flash is so much better. You can also go through very few walls with E as long as there is a targetable enemy on the other side that is very very very close. Just some tips! Hopefully I was able to help :)

Good consistent damage, initiation, and his W will heal him for a lot in team fights.

I believe there are two 'normal' builds for him. I prefer the tankier build personally.

Tanky: item 3111 item 3209 item 3025 item 3065 item 3143 item 3075

Snowballing: item 3111 item 3209 item 3078 item 3143 item 3065 item 3071

He's mad fun.

But was off-putting for me at first because I expected him to be tankier. He's really squishy until he gets a few items. So just be aware of how squishy he is early game.

Late Game - He's kinda a bruiser that scales really well with damage items but is too squishy without a tank item or two. Once you have 3 items, a maxed Q and your ultimate, you'll feel like a force to be reckoned with. Until then you can do decent damage but need to play it safe.

I like building item 3209 (item 3207 is decent too), item 1001 , rushing item 3025 for Spellblade (huge DPS boost), CC and tankiness. Follow up with item 3068 and item 3071 (in either order) then another tank item. A item 2049 sets his build too far back and should only be considered after your Jungle Item, Spellblade, Boots and some Tankiness (at least item 1031 )

He's a decent duelist, and with the above build is an absolute terror to grouped enemies. He also is great at finishing enemies off under tower (even early) by using E and casting Q on the run. He's never a full tank, but his W let's him drain-tank in the middle of a group for a bit and his mobility gives him good engage and disengage. Unique playstyle in that you do a lot of your damage while moving, feels cool when you running alongside someone while killing them.

He can also effectively take summoner 6 for more speed and damage. summoner 4 is great for flashing behind them with E to knock them back though, so choose wisely.
