Why are people still banning Chogath

Ch0c0lateJesus··4 votes·1,092 views

I still cant figure out why Chogath suddenly became a standard ban. Cinderhulk was out for a long time before people even started banning him, and while it is really good on him, it doesnt give him anything he didnt have before. He already gets a ton of HP, he's not going to be the first thing to die in a fight either way.

He has been pretty much unchanged for 2 seasons, but now people are calling him toxic and asking for nerfs? Did people suddenly forget out to kite, and dodge one of the most telegraphed abilities in the game?

Because Cho is fucking OP.

100% AP ratio AOE knockup and long-lasting slow with a long range to place it, 70% AP ratio cone silence for 1.5-2.5 seconds, AA AOE buff, an extra possibly 900 health, size to be a meat soaker, and his ult does more damage than smite and goes on a 40 second cooldown, just like smite.

That's why we hate Cho.

You forgot the ugly amount of sustain his passive gives him for last hitting, which means that you can't reliably harass him in lane because he'll just heal it up, and you're just wasting mana.

;)

He has good matchups and bad matchups like any other champ. His sustain is totally reliant on him having access to his minions, so pick a champ that can zone, and zone him.

Or, y'know... he can just farm under tower to regen all the "zoning" you just did. -_-

Vistha Kai1 votes

You aren't zoning. You are pushing.

FyshinaTux1 votes

Yea, and no matter how well you zone, the minions will eventually push into his tower.

So I guess you fall into the catagory of "cant dodge one of the most telegraphed abilities in the game".

Listing his abilities isnt really making any kind of argument. He's had the same counterplay for 5 years, people just dont like having their cheesy mobility champs countered these days.

FYI Nunu has a 1000 true damage smite that goes on a 9 second CD. Better nerf nao eh?

KK Say whatever, watch your lil "LoL Dodging Cho'gath Q's" videos and whatever, but next time you get in a game against him, don't come crying to me when you can't move. ;)

Um. Yes it does? Wtf how else am I supposed to make an argument? "bcuz he's OPPP"

Nunu is based around jungling or supporting. Mainly jungling. He also can't use his Q to hit someone for some 400-750 damage, now can he? Added to that, he doesn't have an AOE knockup, only a single-target slow minus his ult, an AS-MS boost, and an AOE slowing ult. Compare it to Cho'gath who has all four abilities scaling off of AP, a shit load at that, his ult that deals more damage than Nunu's Q or level 18 smite, gives him quite possibly 900 health, and has a knockup and 1.5-2.5 second silence.

2 POINT 5 FUCKING SECOND SILENCE Wtf.

He's primarily banned due to his power mid-lane, not jungle.

The ultimate buff (half cooldown when killing monster or minion) allows him to stack his ultimate passive far more quickly than before and lowers his period of vulnerability when attempting to stack it.

depending upon who he is fighting because his silence can shut down anyone who has to get close, but Zed can all in easier than other assassins, same with fizz

Zed? he's been disabled. Fizz is top lane almost all of the time. Cho' gath is a bs champion. I'm glad people caught on to it.

It's not cinderhulk that makes chogath good, it's the 1000 true damage ultimate he gets for building AP amongst other things. His scaling is really good plus he applies a lot of CC if he lands his abilities. He obviously has short range but that's not too much of an issue for him right now since we're playing league of tanks and he can always just flash ult the ADC if he has to.

In order to do 1000 true damage to champs with feast, you will need to build around 500 AP, and be level 16. Which means you will be so squishy that you will die before you even get close enough to anything to ult them, and you will get blown up immediately afterward even if you do flash onto a carry. Plenty of champs can delete an ADC without instantly dying afterward(aka assassins).

Chogath is my most played champ, and I know that building him full AP will not work late game. It's like full damage darius, he's oppressive 1v1, but in teamfights he vanishes before he can do anything.

The most common build for Cho Gath at pro level right now is:

RoA + Zhonyas + Deathcap + Ludens/Abyssal/Void + Morellonomicon + Ionians

Yes, you can build him full AP. It works very well but it also has a pretty high skill cap. http://www.probuilds.net/champions/Chogath

Lane Cho is very strong into champions that need to combo abilities together (2.5s aoe silence). He's also very tanky and hard for assassin champs (think Leblanc ) to take down. Add in the objective control his Ultimate gives along with large AP ratios and he's a pretty strong addition to any team.

3TWarrior1 votes

it's because he can delete like an assassin but only once, something most tanks can't do

in exchange for this, he is one of the squishiest tanks there is
