Can we please have some alternative to wasting time in 4v5's?

Just had a game where our Yasuo at 5 minutes told us he was getting off and that he wouldn't be coming back. I sat in base for the rest of the game because I wanted the enemy team to push and end the game before 20 minutes, no point in wasting 15 or more minutes of my day in a teambuilder 4v5 where I know the afk isn't coming back. Now I have 5 games of 20 minute low priority, now I have to spend the rest of my night spamming ARAM games with almost 2 hours of doing nothing. So fun.

I understand never surrendering in ranked, but we play normals to have fun, and there is nothing fun about spending minimum 20 minutes fighting a 4v5 from the start. Can something please be done where we can end the game early? Maybe move surrender vote to 15 or 10 minutes in normals? 4v5's happen all too often and it's bullshit to be forced to fight when you are outnumbered.

Nah man they just need a "safe to leave" like Dota 2, but they're afraid of copying.

It's not copying, as Dota didn't invent the idea. There is very little a game developed within recent years can really do to be unique, as everything today is a copy of a copy of a copy etc etc.

And yet league still has a shitty rank system :)

Starcraft didnt have a "system" like Dota 2 has, Dota 2 if someone abandons or is afk for 5 mins, everyone is free to leave. With Starcraft you could leave when ever you chose to without punishment.

5 years, and Riot still doesn't do anything about it. Oh wait, Leaver Buster. Seriously I don't care if that player gets punished or not by afk-ing in my game, the thing is, the damage has been already done, I lost the match regardless. Let's just say that every idea we come up with can be abused so we should stay like this for the next 6 years to come, if the game survives by then.

Here's what you do: you play League football. The person with the most runs on the enemy fountain wins.

Make sure to type "TOUCHDOWN!!!" in all chat whenever you succeed.

manliestdino5 votes

Well, you gotta have fun. You run around spamming emotes and stuff, and just dick around. Or just play football and execute yourself in fountain and say TOUUCHDOOOOOOOOWN in all chat. Usually what I do.

But why would you AFK?

Do you play team builder with the ONLY goal of winning? You can practice in that 15 minutes, you know. Practice getting up your CS and whatnot. Even if it's skewed against you, that just makes the practice all the more useful.

First of all, assume that Riot servers are capable of telling the difference between a network issue and a player leaving the game.

On the last case, where the player leaves the game intentionally, there is no reason to assume he will ever be back.

I am presenting all the alternatives that seem ok for the problem... which will always exist as we cannot prevent people from leaving a game, and banning them or leaver-buster will not in any case make the experience better for the remaining 4 players.

The AI for bots already exist. When a player leaves the game then the AI should take over the champion and play. To compensate for the lack of a human, the AI champion would not give gold on being killed.

Another alternative would be to sell all the items at store at original value and distribute the gold between the other 4 players, along with a 25% bonus to xp and 5% gold from that moment on.

Or at least give the winning 4 player team a special emblem or border for 1 month or whatever, for winning 4vs5, that would give them a reason to struggle versus overwhelming odds.

Or allow a mercy vote from the 4 player team, if the opposing team accepts, the game ends immediately, no need to wait until 20 minutes.

Or allow queued players to join an existing game, after a pop-up telling them which champion they will play and how many minutes the current game, for them to accept or not.

Either of the solutions would make a 4vs5 "playable" instead of being an auto-loss with no redeeming factor.

By the way Riot, no need to send me a job offer as I am fine as it is ;) take all the above as free advice.

Pretty much agreed with everything up there. Would be nice to have another player or bot to fill in for the person that left, like Halo 4's matchmaking system.

Heros of the Storm puts an advanced bot on your team that plays your champ for you. Usually way better than the raging shmuck that rage quit. Riot could do it, they have AI, they have AI game mode - but this company is more interested in making money than spending it on retention. Truthfully most no lifers that play this game dont need to be retained, so there's your reason on why they haven't. You'll play anyway.

No,they can't,part of the thing in hots is that the biggest punishment when dying is dying, the exp it gives isn't too meaningful, meaning a player can be replaced with a bot,and even then,it's only effective in lower levels of play.

In lol a huge part of dying is the gold you give, meaning replacing a player with a bot can easily do more harm than good.

Easy enough to simply make it so the bot you spawn doesn't give gold on death. Then the only reason to take him out is to prevent him from pushing.

Those bots are free experience points waiting to happen. Way too easy to exploit, unless someone controls it to just turtle, in which case it's reaslly not all that useful anyways.

That advanced bot usually chooses bad talents, and walks into enemy teams just to die. It's more dead weight that's dragging you down.

Whereas in DotA, you can take control of the hero that AFKd directly, if you're good at micro-managing, then it's still a 5 v 5 match.

Ulquiorra9951 votes

And if you don't want to control a leaver hero in DotA, you can sell their items and have their gold value shared within your team. And (correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't played DotA in a while) you get bonus XP and gold for leavers. AND if that is not enough, you can always leave without any penalty.

Hell, I've had one game in DotA when their Phantom Assassin held out for 20 minutes in a 1v5 with that XP and gold lead. Sure, she lost the game in the end, but just let it sink. Because in this game when it is 4v5 you are fucked if you remain to play, and you are fucked if you decide to leave or AFK.

The best way to end your game is actually to feed the enemy adc and to read reddit, not sit in the fountain. They can usually pull off a 12 minute win. Just make sure they are getting as little enjoyment out of the game as possible so they also want to move on to the next game.

Basically, be toxic to the entire concept of ranked play.
