Lux (Intelligence or Precision)

WitchQueen Annie··1 votes·2,801 views

Is Intelligence (starting with 5% CDR and having the cap increased to 45%) better for Lux or Precision (more per level magic penetration)?

Intelligence = stronger early game (more poke and harass, though still limited by mana)... a LOT more Light Binding shots in the mid to late game and a ridiculously short Ult cooldown in the mid game (allowing you to snipe and nuke waves with every chance)... however, in the mid to late game you lose out on Magic Penetration stats

Precision = Less Es in the early laning. Potentially more damage in the mid to late game; you'll have to aim Qs more carefully because the cooldown will be higher.

Generally I like to try to build to 40/45 percent CDR as fast as I can. So I go Morello into Ionian boots before going full AP items while taking 10% CDR runes.

Which is better on Lux?

Intelligence or Precision?

30% cdr runes + frost queen = 40% cdr then run precision + build full damage

morello/athenes are a waste of money and a noob trap on lux

I read that and thought "that's interesting/ that makes sense on a defensive scaling champion like Lux/ & frost queens active is awesome for enabling skillshot picks especially for immobile mages as it gives them information whose near too"

Then I clicked your OP.GG link to see your builds and dayum. We should listen to this guy.

I like creative builds that work and yours intrigues me.

If you think about it Frost Queen's active has ridiculous utility. TWO auto scouting homing on ghosts that give vision and slows. They never nerfed that part of the item. Just the stats. Put it on a fed champion who can burst other champions and yeahhh.

yeah thats not all frost queen is the only way lux can legit 1v1 someone otherwise her kit has so much counterplay anyone high elo just dodges 3/3 your skillshots then kills you but if they are slowed its possible to hit them with e and aa or maybe get a snare off

so you could say it allows lux to "challenge" people up close in certain situations if they are low enough frost queen also pops banshees veil which is useful vs tanks becuase you can pop the veil then snare them

frost queens gives 5-6 kills of gold by end game which is basically a guaranteed baron penta + baron steal every game 100% of the time just for surviving between taht and mejai being a 3k ap item if you dont die you are guaranteed to have a 3-4k gold advantage over your enemy laner without getting a single kill

imagine if you get 3-4 kills from somewhere? your basically already full build

frost queen also allows lux to recall or roam if the wave is pushed to enemy turret and not fall behind in gold so she can safely lane vs people like zed/fizz without dying in lane due to being overextended

I've no strong opinion on Athenes one way or the other, so I won't argue about it, but how is Morello a noob trap?

And 30% CDR Runes is almost definitely sub-optimal. Other Runes are so much more efficient, you're better off taking other stats in your Runes and buying a little CDR in your items.

lux isnt supposed to 1v1 anyone so not really morellos is pointless because the fastest possible damage spike is frostfang - darkseal - frost queen - sorc boots - blasting wand - mejais - dcap first but if they have a single mr item then rush void staff before dcap - void staff - if rengar hourglass if no rengar go liandry for true damage on anyone with 90 mr or less

if you stall your void staff too long you do 0 dmg to anyone with a single mr item

if they even have 25 mr from a neg cloak they are completely invincible to your lux burst

mejais dcap and void staff are all bigger power spikes than morello morello costs what? 2.9k? you are literally setting yourself back over 9 kills of gold for a useless item

if you get dcap sooner you will have 200-250 ap more than morellos

I knew it was pretty good when I saw it because 15 ap on quints is kinda overrated on a champion that really isn't gonna be bully any lanes very quickly. Gearing Lux for lategame as quickly as possible while refusing to die at all costs abusing that range is pretty smart. Getting that 100-0 dmg from range as early and long as possible is gonna win Lux the game. It's smart enough I wanna try it.

I started playing Morgana mid lately who has a similar ish kit but a more in their face playstyle focused on CC, picks and wombo. I rush mobies on her for roam spamming after pooling the wave and affect the side lanes constantly. Anyways I just quint attack speed on her to push the wave faster and last hit between the pool ticks easier. Probably does more damage than overrated 15 ap if things get really personal early lane anyways lol. (Got the idea from some Korean pro who has a Morgana pocket pick + I always thought some attack rate runes op early on most anyone anyways)

The one concern with your build though is mana. But mejais has some and she has powerful long range waveclear so you can sneak a recall there if you prioritize good shoes (too many mid laners sit idle with their slow mana stacking builds and playstyles lol)

I'm just Silver 2, so I can't say my opinion is best, but from what I can see, if you're going to use the CDR runes, you should prioritize CDR across the board. That way, as you said, you can spam the abilities even faster while still building damage and mpen. I look forward though, to seeing others' opinions as well, since I do play Lux quite a lot and want to improve my building and preparation for each game with her!

I'm Bronze so my opinion is worth even less but whatever: I indeed use CDR runes with item 3165 and item 3158 , that gives me 45% cdr. I have magic pen in runes too (instead of AP). People don't even bother buy mr here so no worries, but when they do or I face another mage on mid I would go with item 3001 +item 3111 (instead od Ionians) or even item 3135 . Yeah, get used to people calling you scripter because your 30s cd Ult (with 45% cdr)

5% CDR is situational at best. Because in a general engage that CDR is NOT going to allow two rotations. In league of damage the fight is over after one roation from each champ.

So all in all. I feel the PEN is better and go 26 AP in runes and just nuke people.

You don't NEED CDR at all if the first combo deletes them. That tends to be the case on AP burst like Lux, Ahri, LB.

BUT in the support role I would go with the CDR for more Ults, Q, and Shields since that uptime is key in the role.

That little bit of extra CDR is going to be negligible on a champion with low cooldowns such as Lux.

It's a similar argument with Void Staff and the % magic pen. The more MR they have, the more efficient it is. Similarly, the higher the base cooldowns, the more noticeable that 5% CDR will be. Since all of Lux's CDs are already pretty minimal, an extra 5% isn't going to change much.

I personally for my Lux build (who is my main champion) in Plat and Diamond will typically go 10% CDR per level blues, Morellos for 20% CDR and then get the last 10% from almost always zhonyas (although sometimes Lich Bane if the team is not very burst oriented but has a lot of tanky champions).

I don't typically go for the 45% cap just because I find that the flat MR pen combined with the % pen from void staff is just more useful. Especially mid game where that 5% won't let you get off another spell but the extra damage could mean the difference between being able to 100 - 0 someone from a distance or them living from all 3 damage spells.
