Best Supports for Jihn

Since release I've thought Jihn was on the weaker side, was able to get my Jihn fed with support Sion and it works well. He seems to need a tanky peeler with some kind of poke or way to proc Jihns snare.

I think he's pretty good if you position well and your team peels.

I just played Janna for a Jhin and we demolished the lane and the game (granted support MF + Vayne isn't exactly a tough lane). The shield for his snipe, her godlike peel for his immobile ass. She covers for his weaknesses pretty nicely, while being good at making what he does well even better.

Sion strikes me as a sub-optimal support.

His kit mostly scales with AD (you want to CS), his +2 permanent HP really makes him want to CS, and a 130 HP+10% max HP shield as his only free defensive stats is pretty awful on a support's income. Even at level 18, you're looking at ~330 HP from his bases and only a 10% increase in the efficiency of HP on him (where Sion's bases put him ~15% behind your average melee at level 18).

Consider Alistar has a 70% damage reduction defensive skill, which is the equivalent of boosting his defense by 233% of his current HP, while having similar levels of CC, an added heal, and a +90 AD steroid to at least do something without any damage items.

Alistar Braum ThreshTahmKench are all tankier supports with added peel for Jhin if he gets himself in trouble, many of which can add mobility/escape paths to him.

Also - keep in mind the main reason most supports feel week is because they're supporting and have a support's income. Playing a top/mid/jungle/ADC pick as a support will force you to suffer with the same low damage because of support's income.

All that said: from what little I've seen of Jhin, he strikes me more as someone with a play style analogous to that of Caitlyn LuxZiggs where his strategy largely revolves around wearing an opponent down with poke and then exacting them when they try retreating. His AS being gated and his kit lacking AA resets really hamstrings his performance in all-out ham-fests, which is realistically something most melee supports want to force. Alternatively every 4th hit being a crit gives him some serious trading potential in 1 AA vs. 1 AA hit and run trades, and his long-ranged ability poke with his bouncing grenade and linear skillshot give him some impressive chip damage.

Ideally you shouldn't need a tanky support for peel with Jhin but rather someone that just allows Jhin to reliably win poke-wars and prevent enemies from getting to a position where peel is necessary in the first place: reling more on sustain and zonning potential, which Nami Soraka both do pretty well ATM.

Also ideally the Jhin you're supporting isn't full of pants-on-head derp and thinks he can win face-tank ham-fests and overextend as if he were Riven -_-

You're forgetting one great thing about Sion, ranged armor reduction. You have no idea how valuable that is to a carry like Jihn at any stage of the game especially for early harass and zoning.

I like your post though, covers the in's and outs of Jihn and synergy with supports but I feel like Jihn's lack of mobility and situational cc requires a tanky cc machine to engage and peel for him, utility sups can help him but he's forced into more aggressive role to win his lane.

Leo easilythe best because her passive helps him do more damage

My issue with Leo is that she is a literal all in champ, if your teammate can't or wont all in with you she gets focused and killed in the engage. Jihn can't really all in with you, he has to stay backline and poke.

I think braum, nami, and janna are good supports for jhin. Braum has his on-hit free stun, which sounds like a dream for jhin since he's gona have to atk u a few times as well, only makes it easier for him to unload his 4th shot with less retaliation. the Q slow also makes it asier for jhin to land his E, i think, which was that long range skillshot similar to jinx's zap.

Janna can add AD bonuses to jhin with her barrier/shield, can peel, heal, and slow with zephyr. she's just a generally annoying support, but the bonus AD is what i'm looking at mostly here.

Nami has that nice bubble interrupt, has a WIDE skillshot ult that slows, an heal, and her auto-atk buff makes the atks have a built-in slow, which also makes catching running targets easier for jhin.

of course a lot of champs have good general support abilities, like thresh, blitz, nautilus, etc. but these 3 just kinda felt like they really allowd him to do his jhin thing a bit better than just simple go-in-and-tank.
