Getting the kill as support.

When I first started playing league, I'd feel bad for ksing. Now I'm like, "sweet now I got gold for vision and utility items so I can protect my team"

The way I see it, when I play support I am giving up all the cs for my marksman. The marksman scales better than me with gold, so they can have that sweet farm. However, I don't agree that all the kills belong to them. If there's a fight, I'm fighting with everything I've got and trying to get that enemy dead. I've seen too many times when a kill has been lost, or worse, an ally killed because someone held back to give someone else the kill. The advantage that the marksman gets from that kill is more free farming time to get more of those minions that I'm giving up, and potentially objectives. It's not as if the support getting an extra 150g is a bad thing. Supports scale with money too. A fed support not be as scary for the enemy team as a fed carry, but they'll still be much better at helping their team, be it through damage, stronger shields, better heals, more vision, greater utilIty, or just being tanky enough to stay in a fight for longer.

tl;dr: if I'm playing support, I'm giving up my share of cs for someone else. I'm not giving up kill participation unless it's absolutely guaranteed. If you want the kill credit, earn it.

More like: "Sweet my dipshit ADC didn't reset their gold."

The concept of ksing is what made supporting toxic in the past and honestly every time my adc complains about it I just instamute and report

Need gold? Learn how to farm

Escheton11/23/2016, 3:41:05 PM4 votes

Yup! And it´s even better if you happen to be a carry support.

I KS everything I can get my hands on. I've flash ulted with Morgana just to steal a kill when the last auto attack was already in the air lol.

In a recent game I somehow ended up getting most of the kills as a Support Alistar and my team was getting more than a little upset. In a following 2v2 fight at bottom I engage the enemy with my Ashe and near instantly kill the enemy Thresh. All I have to do is land my empowered E strike to finish him, but I don't want to irritate my team anymore so I hit Draven instead. Thresh then flashes away after throwing down his lantern and they both escape.

This is a perfectly good reason of why KSing isn't kill stealing, it's kill SECURING.

Agreed. If I get the kill I don't really care anymore. I apologize if it was not just to secure the kill, but unless it denies my adc from getting bf sword, I could probably make better use of the gold. As braum especially if I get first blood, I can go twice as aggro and hand so many more kills to the adc. They forget about losing a kill when they're 10-0.

It's different for me as I'm a silver shitter.....but I take every kill I can get on my lux support. I've seen waaayyyy to many adc's have no idea what to do with their lead and just try to 1v4/5 instead. But again...... I'm only in the silver shitter league.

If enemy flash is down, if ADC if their heal is down AND if I have CD on an ability to gap close/cc I.e Leona E then I will wait for someone else to kill. If those conditions are not met I will KS; kill secure

Oglaf11/23/2016, 4:38:43 PM1 votes

It is super-easy to accidentally get a kill as Braum since his Q scales with his Health, so you'll do surprisingly much damage with it without picking up any offensive items whatsoever.

Like, they are running away and you just want to slow 'em up with it and KABLAM! You kill 'em instead, lol.

Homurà Akemì11/23/2016, 4:56:28 PM1 votes

No, of course not. Yes, sometimes as a support main I'll have the most kills, other times I'll just be no kills and full assists. Your role as a "support" isn't loyalty to the ADC, it's to the team. Anytime an enemy is getting away and you feel you can secure the kill, take it. If you know they can get the kill, back off. Anytime I doubt my teams capability to secure the kill, I'll go to take it; that's the only time supports should get kills. If you support the right way, your gold should be no less than 500 away from the laner you start supporting.

SGT Dingle Berry11/23/2016, 5:34:20 PM1 votes

Most teammates don't care or listen to reason when the supp gets a kill. Unless the supp straight up waits to ult for the KS or something along those lines it's not hard to accidentally get the last hit.

Too many people watch LCS and think their SoloQ team needs to feed them. Don't ask me to let you get solo turret gold jerk off, I don't know you and have no interest in putting my faith in you! Or when a carry runs by and last hits the junglers monster as if the jungler doesn't need gold too.

I Always apologize for KSing. Sincere or not. I prefer to give the ADC the kill when I can.

Unless I am 100% certain the ADC will get the kill and not die immediately afterwards, I will make every reasonable effort to ensure the enemy champion's death. Including KS.

And, although rare, If I am certain my fed ADC will die killing an enemy champion that's notably behind without situational benefit, I will save the enemy champion to peel our ADC. Their 50 gold is not worth giving the entire enemy team 500.

Athenes Lulu11/23/2016, 10:44:03 PM1 votes

And plus, as long as your carries are farmed up to get damage they can easily take all those kills back, unless they are very unlucky or bad.

Even if they are "snowball reliant", sharing a few kills with the support sometimes gives a much greater advantage than having just the ADC take kills all the time.

RainbowIcee11/24/2016, 2:22:43 AM1 votes

Ugh I immediately buy tank items because everyone and their mother is all up on my ass. ADC get's an S and fed, mid get's and S and fed jg get's an S and fed. I get a shit B because these bullies are always killing me and throwing the game because of it. Sure this is a good thing for the team, but screw the team i wanna play too not just watch the death screen.

PaladinNO11/24/2016, 8:57:38 AM1 votes

Will explain my following statement. I take whatever kill I can in the game...but not deliberately at the expense of a teammate.

As support, I usually play Nami. My W heals bounce. Shit happens. I don't care. My ADC is alive, and an enemy is not. I don't even think of the extra gold - I just think "now my ADC can have an easier time farming for a moment".

But I will deliberately Flash + Splash (W) to get a kill if that's what is required to make an enemy dead, and I see for sure our ADC cannot reach to get the kill. If we chase, I'm like "can you get him? can you get him? can you get him? no? okay, fuck it! [Flash kill]". So it's not something I do lightly.

I tried AP Nami in a normal game about a month ago, just to try emphasizing that Heal/splash kill potential for fun.

Not to turn this into a thread about the incomprehensible mastery rating system, but it didn't go so well. http://matchhistory.eune.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/EUN1/1545934411/201309331?tab=stats

Stat-wise, it went very well. But, well, the rating was unexpected. ~30 minute game, 6 CS, score 4/1/10 (my ADC 6/0/6), 33 wards placed.

B+ rating.

Honestly, if the support is making plays, either turning fights or initiating well, i gladly give them the kill when i'm playing ADC. The reasoning is pretty simple.

They get a spike in gold to keep them caught up and making more plays. I get free farm, putting me ahead in gold and allowing me to still reach that snowball threshold before their ADC (which is the core goal of bot lane). Even if i'm 0/1/4 with all the kills on the support, I'll be sure to use that time to get a 30-40 CS lead, which when combine with the assist gold is about the same, if not more with a really good lead in CS, than if i had gotten the kills myself.

Note, this is coming from a support main. Granted i really haven't taken the game seriously in a long time, because let's be honest it's become a joke of a game at this point.
