Stupid interaction between Taric's E and stealthed champions

Fisher No Chains··63 votes·3,917 views

So... I just played vs a Twitch Taric botlane. Apparently, Taric's E is longer than Twitch's reveal range, and while Twitch is stealthed the dazzle ray is invisible. Why? I mean, I've got stunned and I didn't even know why until Twitch came out of nowhere and melted me.

I don't know if this works with other champions too, but it makes no sense that I get stunned by something that I don't even get to see before dying.

I think it's a problem with twitch in general. They need to increase his detection range or something.

Fisher No Chains13 votes

Gl waiting for Twitch changes, been waiting for a season and nothing happened lol

Poske1 votes

quite sure twitch ll be getting championship skin

Fisher No Chains1 votes

You're late, Ashe already got it. :^)

OHminus2 votes

Pretty sure he meant victorious, and if that does happen, I will immediately play twitch in custom game with that skin and proceed to just run it down typing "SEWER SKEWERS FOR EVERYBODY!!!"

Fisher No Chains1 votes

We had Sivir 2 years ago, it's unlikely that we'll get another adc.

Arakadia1 votes

Or they should make the particle visible no matter what?

UnboundHades1 votes

Would make trolls pick taric if a teamate picks a stealth champ

Arakadia4 votes

Except trolls have better ways to troll.

You don't need to make this change for people to troll. They will find a way no matter what. If someone is intending to troll, this is a shitty way to do so.

Spoofghoul2 votes

if i want to troll ill just pick TahmKench or Alistar

they much better at it

Glory ln Death1 votes

What about from brush or fog of war?

Arakadia1 votes

Keep it the same as it is rn.

DracosKasu2 votes

The sad thing is twitch detection range is smaller then Rengar detection range and one of them is a ult and the other a basic ability. Find the error.

King of Demons17 votes

That's an intended interaction. You can't see it out of a brush either

Fisher No Chains7 votes

I understand for a brush, since facechecking is YOUR fault.

But with stealthed champions? I mean, what should I do to prevent him from stunning me with... 0 counterplay?

LXII2 votes

If he's dominant in the lane I don't have a solution for you. But what I do when laning against one is put a control ward in the brush so he can't ever sneak in. Obviously this only works if he's not able to just fight you off of it and kill it, but if you do it early enough you'll be able to stop him from getting to that point.

Häxel2 votes

yea, control ward or lense trinket. also firing skillshots makes invisible champs shine a bit.

Umbra Ionia1 votes

I miss pink wards :(

Glory ln Death1 votes

Control wards.

Umbra Ionia1 votes

Control wards doenst counter the stealth like the pink did.

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

So? The intend is utter bullshit. Same goes for orianna and shaco/twitch.

Kloqdq11 votes

It's one of the oldest interactions. Before the stealth changes I did that with Ori+Twitch and the invisible ball. Just run in, drop the ult and then ult from the back line to turn enemies into cheddar. Ori is the biggest offender of this but others get this too.

SanKakU1 votes

I wonder if these champions should get their mana and cooldowns refunded for spells like that cast on allied champs that go invisible?

Kloqdq1 votes

Would be too much of a gimmick.

this vids 3 years old and features stealth cheese.

heck iirc there used to be a strat involving evelynn and sunfire cape.

and even in the competitive scene, I remember, one of the biggest tactics in the LCS was the "rengar Orianna ball delivery service"

Joseph Stalux1 votes

You do know that the Eve/twitch sunfire cape was patched really quick? Because it allowed you to kill people without even getting out of stealth. I see the same thing here, you can potentially stun someone without even getting of stealth. And all that it implies.

Iota Theta11 votes

I believe it also works with Shen Ult on Twitch

dominusx1 votes

submarine combo Rengar Shen ope ope

Fairyfleur1 votes

And Orianna ball.

RisenDarkKnight1 votes

Fun fact it also works with Shen ult on Kayn. If kayn is ulting someone and shen ults him there's no warning that shen is coming in.

Skorch7 votes

I am a little salty people are saying its a twitch problem. Like it works for every stealth champion in the game. With the exception of very long detection ranges like Rengar.

This is a poor INVIS reaction =/= Twitch reaction.

Kirius Dark6 votes

Same thing with Ori ball on an invis champ it's hidden so they can run it up to you and Ori ults where you can't even see it

The stealth rework tried to improve counterplay but it didn't address everything. Would be nice if they could think of something to balance it without creating unfair situations.

I don't think the rework to stealth was trying to improve counterplay. That's what the addition of camouflage is for. Yes I know that didn't really improve much. Shaco has a long ass invisibility now, Akali has a longer and more situational one, and Vayne (though definitely not an assassin) can become invisible frequently. Riot removed the ability for pinks to counterplay invisibility, now they are only somewhat effective against camouflage. I don't think that this wouldn't have happened if Riot was trying to improve counterplay to stealth

When Riot was reworking the assassins, I believe they were going for more power in mobility and less or slower upfront burst. The stealth rework accomplished the first part and the balance changes to the assassins accomplished the second part and while doing so increased counterplay to the assassins themselves but not their stealths

Fisher No Chains1 votes

Isn't "counterplay" the reason for those changes? Or at least for camouflage.

I think that the stealth rework tried to make invisibility one of a champion's main strength, even though they didn't even consider that invisibility is cancerous and should have not existed in the first place. Some examples are Akali or pre-nerfs Shaco that are a pain in the ass because you can only see their silhouette with sweeping lens.

AirSonance5 votes

Stealth has always been like that. No range indicators if the champion is out of vision. Sion can charge a knock-up in a bush, and nobody will know about it until they get popped up and stunned.

AuraCreed3 votes

It's been like that since Tarics rework. You need good teamwork for it to really be effective though.

Vectros2 votes

I think detection range on Twitch should get increased. You can't really ward for him when he jungles, and he'll just pop up on you, and he has interactions like this in lane that are quite unfair.

Soraka Rules2 votes

ooo I didnt know it worked like that :O!! I'm going to use that now :D

Agent Corgi2 votes

This was a neat trick I picked up on a few patches after Taric's Rework. It's an interaction that's super strong (surprised they never picked up on this), but I think it works best in coordinated teams where they have communications. Only thing I can think of is watching Taric Taric to see if he's going to use Dazzle. If he goes & looks like he's dazzling thin air, either run like the plague or pray your support has peel.

Hydroxlic2 votes

I don't know if this works with other champions too, but it makes no sense that I get stunned by something that I don't even get to see before dying.

If I remember correctly it does, if a Shen ults on an Evelynn his teleport is invisible and all the enemy will see is shen just appear out of nowhere.

Frightning2 votes

Same thing works w/ Ori's ball, and Lulu's E and it works with other stealth champs too.

General Esdeath 2 votes

Why would anything with Twitch be fair? It's not like we gutted Rengar for doing the same thing he does but to one person in melee range

TheHappyReaperz2 votes

It's the same if Taric is in a bush, and cast's his E. If you can't see a champion, you can't see their spells winding up. That's how it works for pretty much every champ in the game.

Hawkefire2 votes

This has actually been a feature for a while now. I think it is related to the whole nunu ult in a bush that can't be seen type thing.

Hyrum Graff1 votes

Fyi you're talking about camouflauge, not stealth.

Fisher No Chains2 votes

Stealth is a generic word. Then we have camouflage, and invisibility.

And still, my point was right even if we were talking about invisibility.

You talked about the reveal range, which only matters for camouflage. This interaction has been around forever, and in far stupider forms.

That said, past BS doesn't justify present BS. I intentionally did not comment on the body of your post since I had little to add that my upvote didn't already express.
