Everyone's definition of fun is different. Play a different champion.

Warwick This guy, however...

iamthegoatofwar1 votes

I enjoy him purely for his E.

Melledoneus1 votes

Awooooooooo.

Seriously, for the longest time I didn't think it was a toggle.

iamthegoatofwar3 votes

it's a toggle so that way you can sneak around. however whenever im not planning on ganking or anything i just leave it on. that sudden vision at level 3-4 in your jungle can save you from an invader. (pro tip if your blood scent triggers and you get a movement speed boost, but see no enemies there's an invisible enemy in range of your E!

Since when did skillshot=fun?

Different champions do different things

Kairya3 votes

Personally I feel it's more rewarding to land a good skillshot, because I have to work harder for it. Aim, Anticipate where your enemy will move and time it just right....

Skillshots also tend to have much larger ranges.

Xin has a fairly marginal threat range with his E. If you're out of range of it you're not in danger; that simple. He has no poke and he has no recourse, so he can only get to you if you allow him to.

Xin's a champion which is simple and strong to perform with when he reaches his target, but against competent players you will have to get creative and be very cunning in actually getting to your target. Most of them will keep an eye on you / understand your range, and not give you the opportunity to get on them in the first place.

Xin has no resource? Season 7 changes? What more? Pantheon's Q is now an AOE skillshot?

Vayne and most ADCs fit your group then

Squarefighter3 votes

Vayne plays very differently and has a lot more agency compared to all of the above, and since the adc update all the adcs have their own unique style to them. I wouldn't say they fit the group at all.

1 800 MID LANE4 votes

ADCs are point and click for the vast majority of their damage (auto attacks), BUT they're also the hardest role in the game (IMO) since you're everyone's target and squishy as hell with generally low escape potential if they do get to you. They're a different category in this...category.

JSTIN83 votes

First of all. Vayne has enough self peel to qualify as a naked orange. Second, as far as difficulty? You get a babysitter for the entire game to keep your ass alive. If im playing naut in the jungle there is nobody looking out for me. Nobody there to hold my hand. And while you might have a giant bullseye on you, the entire point of having tanks is to detract from that.

biobirbbyy1 votes

You literally just copied everything that Sky said, with the same analogies. smh

Vayne has little peel. The whole babysitting this doesn't count since the other enemy ADC also has a babysitter. I played jungler before, and trust me, the amount of invades is laughable. Seriously, ADC has a babysitter, but you don't have much to worry about much for the first 5 minutes - 7 minutes.

From, A salty Support/ADC main

Melledoneus3 votes

Vayne's E is a pretty powerful tool for getting aggressive enemies off your back.

biobirbbyy1 votes

For me, it is mediocre at best. If you use the condemn without the stun, it will keep them off for only a few more seconds (If they haven't already used their gap closer).

Melledoneus2 votes

It's the most annoying thing to see on an ADC as a Shen player. She can cancel my entire teamfight presence by pressing E.

1 800 MID LANE1 votes

That babysitter can't help you if you completely suck at positioning in the first place. You're playing Naut in the jungle. Why would you need someone to look out for you? As a matter-of-fact, I don't think there's a jungler in the game who needs someone to watch out for them at all.

JSTIN81 votes

There are reasons tank junglers sweat when we see a lee sin or shaco or any early game jungler on the enemy team. Don't get me started on when they get the enemy top laner to come help out and you've lost your red buff and flash before you can say "fuck me". And as for positioning? Yeah, same can be said for the enemy ADC and their support. So that point is null and void.

1 800 MID LANE1 votes

Okay, I'll give you the jungler thing, but how is the enemy support/ADC requiring position mean that the point I made is void? Saying that they need positioning too is only saying that it's an even playing field and doesn't at all make my point any less of one.

JSTIN81 votes

It is the idea that you must assume that both people on each team are on an equal skill level in order for any level of reasonable discourse reagarding balance or gameplay. Otherwise being counter jungled as naut doenst mean anything because i could be faker and the shaco could be in bronze 5.

Lucent Rengar2 votes

adc is not point a click. if you dont know how to kite i will destroy u in .003 sec. unlike jax, or trynd. you can just stand still and beat the shit out of your enemy.

Melledoneus3 votes

Not everybody is Rengar.

1 800 MID LANE2 votes

That only proves my point more. They're point and click for their damage, but it's hard to play because of game mechanics rather than champion. I don't see how right-clicking to deal damage ISN'T point and click. Kiting is a game mechanic, not a champion-specific mechanic.

junglerboy1611 votes

Yeah, if you look at only the most basic and boring parts of a kit, anything can look pathetic like this.

If you actually play him well he is very fun and has great playmaking potential. If you have only just picked him up and haven't really looked past the surface (like you in your 4 whole Xin games).

For example, if I did what you just did to Xin Zhao to Ahri (someone you seem to have played several times recently) we get:

Q: skill shot active W: Auto-targeted active E: skill shot active R: dash active

WOOOOOO! It looks just as pathetic as Xin does when you only talk about the most bland version of their kit. Doing this doesn't prove your point, it just makes it look like you have to manipulate facts for your point to make sense.

Gregor Gysi6 votes

Eh, no it doesn't look as pathetic? On-click is generally rather boring so skill shot is way better and unconditional (!) dashes open way more options than conditional enemy only ones do. Not every champion needs to be mechanically demanding, but Xin Zhao has a really plain and boring kit despite not being Garen who is supposed to be a newbie champion. There is no need for you to be offended, Xin Zhao is mechanically simple - that doesn't change the fact that you of course still make plays with your ult and master him.

Wheatloaf5 votes

It sounds more boring when you also note that his passive, Q, and W all just modify/add effects to his autoattacks. After that, his E is mostly used for getting/keeping people in autoattack range, while his Ult is used mostly either for burst damage, and for making sure only your main target is in autoattack range. His kit just isn't much other than jumping on a target and slapping them to death. I understand there's a surprising amount of depth to that, but he has very few options as to what actions to take, with his opponents having similarly limited options against him. My problem with champions like Xin are twofold:

I hate playing with a Xin when they're fed. If you don't have enough peel to get him off you, you're dead. Plain and simple. I don't enjoy dealing with it, and if he's on my team, I know my opponents don't appreciate it either.

I hate playing with a Xin that's behind, because once they hit a certain point all they can do is jump into the face of the enemy least likely to immediately kill them and hope their team has enough followup to make it worth. Xin is far from the only champion with this issue.

I just find it really hard to enjoy the old Win Zhao being in the game. It would be nice if any eventual work on him ended up more like Gangplank, Garen, or Darius, where they kept their kits pretty simple, while still introducing a new way or two for them and their opponents to play around each other, but there's no guarantee they'll find a way to make it work.

Squarefighter1 votes

Actually that description of her kit doesn't sound too bad at all. I would reclassify it (as long as we're using the most simple possible terms) as:

Q: Skillshot active W: Auto-targeted active E: CC Skillshot active R: Multi-use dash active

junglerboy164 votes

Well if you do that then it's only fair to do the same for Xin.

Q: Steroid CC active W: Steroid active, passive steroid E: CC dash active R: Knockback active.

What you just listed and what I just listed here are equally basic descriptions of their abilities. They still look comparably interesting.

How can you check how many times someone picked champion outside ranked game? :D

junglerboy162 votes

OP.GG

Just enter their name and it lists all recent games of any nature on that account.

Ehh, I though there is another way. Op.gg doesn't show games from season 2 for me either.

I think that's because the site didn't exist before then, and as such couldn't collect info on games.

Anu3isII1 votes

Pardon me, why do you play him if those are your reasons you don't like him? I mean, does anyone force you to play him? You don't know any other good jungler?

Not everyone must be at Xerath's level of skill shots , and even he , who should be considered "fun" and interesting, isn't that much played.

Again , if that are your problems, play other "fun" champions , and let our Champion from the Arena fight like a man!

PickleBabah2 votes

I think that maybe for Xin Zhao's concept as a character there could be a higher skill floor than what it currently is. Not that i don't think he's fine where he is, but he doesn't do his concept much justice.

Anu3isII1 votes

Yes , you are right, he could get a better kit and have more interesting combos, but I don't know how easy it can be to make a new one without making him look like any other fighter(bruiser) in the game.

From my point of view, Xin Zhao is a simple champion with meaningful decisions. Sure , he looks dumb when he jumps on you and tries to kill beat your ass with his spear (just a reference), but if he succeeded in that gank , then he knew he you'll be an easy gank. He has an oppressive early-game just because he can choose your death sentence when you are not ready. If he fails a gank, he wastes his time and power over the game, leading to the "useless Xin".

Personally, I like his kit because your decisions change the game. If I screw up , I can't get away with it. If I missed that opportunity, then I missed a big chance to make a lane snowball. If I SUCEED, then I have done my job.

As concept, I see him as a warrior who charges into his enemies to aid his allies. At least when he is the jungler... I would not see him run or just murder everyone he can , just a fighter that helps his allies to be more powerful by fighting for them.

PickleBabah1 votes

I agree with the whole "feast or famine" characteristic of Xin Zhao, but I don't feel like that should be defining key characteristic of Xin, ya know? Feast or famine is not an uncommon theme in League, and there are several champions who share that play pattern, and some to even more so embrace it. As an outdated champ, many parts that made Xin Zhao feel like Xin Zhao have been mimicked or just plain outdone in other kits. Xin ultimately falls short, in today's League.

I also feel like conceptually (and taking pieces from his Lore [which is probably going to be irrelevant]) he is loyal, one who makes commitments on and off the rift, and willing to take hits for other team mates. However, he is not worthless without his team, he is a former gladiator, one who survived the Fleshing [yeah that's a name you hear a lot], and defeated 300 foes.
