why does Quinn's E reset the CD on her passive??

I feel as though using her E should no way affect her passive, kinda just taking away more damage potential

Honestly, they really need to change it and make her E proc her passive if one is currently on the target and then add a new passive.

I agree she needs a new passive or a new E ability they are too similar

Her e is the best part of her kit ;-; Being able to vault off her enemy is what makes her such an oppressive top laner. I say give her a new passive.

I think her Q is the best part. Hitting a blind into an entire team can be pretty devestating and it lets her outtrade almost anyone most of the time if they use auto attacks.

I was always under the assumtion that Quinn was more for 1v1s. I mean yes teamfighting is a big part, but why teamfight if you can splitpush top and kill anyone that engages on you? Then you can just valor away if someone comes too close for comfort that you can't fight.

This would be so nice. I'm probably just bad at Quinn because I just picked her up, but I find I way too often use my E just as the mark comes on my target (not on purpose) and end up losing a bunch of damage because of it.

Her E basically triggers her passive on the targeted player, which allows for more damage on said target. Since you're reapplying the passive (probably while it's still on cooldown!) it resets the passive's cooldown. So I honestly have no idea how you lose damage potential when you can effectively proc her passive twice on the same target in a row on top of the damage from her E, which would merely mean a second or two longer before the next harrier mark.

Losing damage potential cause the E is causing her passive to be on cd longer than intended

This is incorrect though. Her E does NOT proc the passive. That’s the problem. You wouldn’t believe the amount of times I’m going in on someone and E right at the same time that Valor decides to mark them, effectively wasting his mark. Where if I had waited a spilt second longer, I would have gotten his mark damage as well as the new passive proc mark damage that E would have added. All her E needs to do, is proc the mark if one is currently on the target before applying the new mark. That would fix the problem. Just like how Lux’s ult, procs her passive if one is on the target and also reapplies a new passive.

Edit - I just want to edit and note that there’s no way of knowing how long until Valor will apply his mark or even if he will apply on the intended target. There’s nothing wrong with Quinn’s passive outside of this annoyance with her E.

I do believe Quinn's passive has a CD timer for when Valor can apply his mark, but it has been a bit since I've played her so I can't be 100% positive on this.

I never said her E procs the passive, I said it applied/triggered the passive. In other words, that you would mark a target for you to auto for more damage. I dunno how you're playing her, but my preferred trade is to wait for them to get marked, then auto-e-auto. Boom, tons of damage. Get Triforce for more tons of damage too. I should totally try that sometime.

Anyways, even if you're going in without the mark for some reason (crazy Leonas, jungler gank), you should auto-e-auto anyways. More damage potential.

You aren’t understanding what I’m saying.

In a perfect world, it would be nice to attack a target that is currently marked by her passive, therefore triggering her passive, then immediately follow it up with an auto, E, auto. That is by far the best combo she has and everyone knows it. That’s not what I’m saying at all.

I’m saying, when you need to go in on a target that is not currently marked by your passive and you go to E them. Then, WHILE e’s animation is going off, your passive comes up on the target. Therefore, you effectively just LOST one passive (and a lot of potential additional burst) because the passive from the E overrode the passive that marked the target in between the animation, rather than triggered it. I’m not talking about an internal cd on her passive or anything about combos. I’m saying that it would be nice for E to be able to PROC a passive that is currently already applied to the target as well as apply a passive mark like it already does.

Which I was saying in response to this...

Her E basically triggers her passive on the targeted player, which allows for more damage on said target.

That is incorrect and exactly what NEEDS to be changed. E does not trigger her passive, but they should change it so that it does.

Although you misunderstand me somewhat as well (when I said triggers, I meant applied the mark, not procced the mark as you seem to think I did), you do have a valid point for a nice Quality of Life change, even if I still do disagree with it.

My disagreement stems from the fact that you still choose when to use E, and don't have to use it immediately when your Leona decides it's time to go ham. You can use it to disengage, you can use it after you happen to get a passive mark on your target, you can use it when Leona's cc ends for a longer cc chain, or you can use it immediately after she engages for that quick burst. I still feel for maximum damage output you should still auto - E - auto regardless of whether the target is previously marked or not, which would make the moments you described fairly rare.

i kind of like it as soon as passive is on someone you AA them use your e then AA again you win most trades that way if your not behind especially if you have your blind.

CHOPSTICKUHH1 votes

Ya it's nice but it shouldn't affect the passive cd

kagepaladin3 votes

well picture if it didn't you know how bad a person with a moderate level of skill could completely face roll someone getting an extra auto attack every 3 seconds providing it marks a champion the lcs players would have an absolute field day with that. her dps would practically double, it would be quite scary even now level 6 back get a bf sword i go back to lane with passive proc+q+e i'm sititng pretty with full health practically while their already below half. now imagine with cdr your e up every 4-5 seconds with passive up every seconds it is a constant damage almost, this factoring in her passive resetting.

Hello I am Bird1 votes

Assuming you are playing the combo correctly, it would be AA, E, AA. This QOL change would do nothing but reduce it by maybe a second. Considering her early level cds are around 7-9 seconds, I'd say that it's okay to shave a second off that if you can perform the combo correctly. You still have to worry about the e cooldown, which is around 10 seconds(?) at first level if my mind is correct. She wouldn't be reseting ALL the time. I think this is a fair change.

Mister Mackey2 votes

It doesn't, as you can mark a target with E and after valor marks a target from the passive being the only time you can have 2 marks at the same time.

CHOPSTICKUHH1 votes

It actually does, I'm playing Quinn right now lmao, her passive will make a target then you hit the target and the cd begins at 7 then I'll use my E by that time the cd is down to 5 after I notice after I use my E the passive is back at 7...

no her passive does in fact go on cooldown after you use E. you can have 2 marks up at the same time if you use E after the passive goes off.

CHOPSTICKUHH1 votes

She needs a new passive tbh

Boulderox1 votes

the point is to have valor mark the target, you proc the herrier, then you e them and proc again, q somewhere in there. and back off. you can get 4 AAs off and a few spells in a short duration. I feel she just needs to have something more in valor mode on the w, look at nidalee, she has 2 support skills, traps and heal, but when she transforms they become all damage spells.... why does quinn and valor only have 3 damage skills.... and the vison she has is outshined by reworked ashe thanks to the stacked vision control.

Does it really make a difference tho? 5/10 times your passive marks a random minion or something stupid so the only damage you get from your passive comes from E. If your passive marks a champ by some miracle and you Auto E auto them it hurts like crazy but how often does that happen lol

Pretty regularly actually. According to http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Quinn you can also supposedly control it by auto attacking who you want marked before the CD finishes.

Hello I am Bird1 votes

From what i can tell, can't confirm based on facts just experienced, but you can influence valor by doing these 2 things. If B has not occurred, then the passive will not trigger on target. A: Auto attacking a person before the cd ends. Do not attack any other unit until the cd ends. B: The target is within about 100 units past your Auto attack range

Boulderox1 votes

Move her passive to her w so that it has more than a crappy long cd sight, give it two charges, and change her passive, fixes her lvl 1 cheese, and gates her powerspike to lvl 2-3. Then make valor w do something better...
