Help Dealing with Rengar

I usually play adc and it seems like there is absolutely no way to deal with a fed rengar, late game no one has a pink and he just jumps into my team and kills me without much counterplay. What can I do as an adc?

In a joking manner buy zhonyas. In a serious stand point not a lot, item 3053 may save you from the initial burst but your best bet is to have a peeling support, Janna Thresh Alistar are great examples. You could also play champs like Caitlyn or Vayne and push him back after he ults in. Also on the support part, if they don't plan to take summoner 3 when a Rengar is on the enemy team ask them to because that can save lives if they're quick.

The most you can do as an ADC is keep track of his ultimate status. When it is up, instead of putting yourself in a position to be jumped on, put pressure around the map and ward choke points to prevent the enemy team from acting on a Rengar pick or to prevent it altogether. Lastly, Rengar fights weakest in the lanes away from brushes and is terrible at defending. Siege comps get Rengar a miserable time.

Guardian Angel is one way to brainlessly counter rengar since he's essentially dead once he jumps into your team first. You can't do much alone as an ADC - you should be relying on your team for those heals/shields/peels.

best thing would be, get steraks and pray your team can peel

Defeating Rengar takes team work and communication on all aspects of the team. In most cases a Rengar gets fed because no one defends properly against his jump. Rengar is nothing with out it. Rengar in most cases also has only initial one-shot burst with nothing else after. His dueling potential is absolute poop.

I've played many Draven games with fed Rengars on the other team and made it out alive most times due to Mercural Scimitar and Steraks but also with amazing supports and top laners who were able to get him off me and peel me. I enjoy playing Rengar a lot and it's the teams that are well coordinated and have communication and team work on all fronts that usually do it for me (aka make me useless.)

Not long ago, I played vs a fed Rengar as ADC and won. Here's how I did it:

  1. map awareness. Always know where Rengar is. If you don't know where Rengar is, don't leave tower, don't leave base. My team would push mid and not know where Rengar was. If I went with them, Rengar instant killed me in the middle of my entire team with no other enemies around to help him. So I stopped going mid with my team whenever we lacked vision of Rengar. I told them Rengar would instant kill me and hugged tower. This is the most important thing I did. True, Rengar could solo, without minions tower dive me, kill me, and walk away if he wanted, but not leaving base meant he had to really work to get those kills. Just always making sure he was on the opposite side of the map when I ventured out was a monumentally huge factor in him not killing me.
  2. Warding. I placed wards to help know where Rengar was. I tried using item 2043 in fights to give me better warning but Rengar just leaps to you as soon as he enters vision. Warding was the least important thing I did, but it did help slightly.
  3. Itemization. I was sorely tempted to build item 3075 Ashe and I considered item 3157, but I went item 3026 instead and this was actually effective in allowing me to go out with my team and win the game. item 3053 and item 3072 were both ineffective.

In conclusion, a fed Rengar is a nightmare to play against. There is no outplay for his combo if he executes properly, so you have to avoid fighting him at all costs. You are best off delaying or forgoing damage items altogether to get defensive or tanky items. You may be the ADC, but if you are dead, then it doesn't matter how many damage items you built - you lose. Also, if Rengar has decided to kill you all the time, then you have to position for your team to get the follow up kill back onto Rengar. It's a small consolation, but if your teammates can get consistently fed off of your deaths, then there is a chance they can carry the game for you. Basic math here: ten solo kills onto you doesn't give out much gold anymore, but Rengar's bounty is always fresh for the follow up kill and three assists your team has a chance of getting.

Anyway, this is how you actually beat Rengar. Timing his ultimate isn't that helpful because it's almost back up by the time you respawn. Fighting in lane doesn't matter because his stealth automatically gives him leap range anyways. You can't always ban Rengar because you don't always get a ban. You can't always rely on your teammates to put down wards and if you go to ward a choke point that can be the moment he kills you. Your team doesn't always pick a seige comp. Your team won't always take a peeling support. When they do, they might not peel for you. Even if they take summoner 3 they might not exhaust Rengar until after he kills you. Maybe you can deal with him better if you main an adc such as Cait or Vayne, but you won't always be in a position to choose them as counterpicks to a Rengar on the enemy team. In short, most of the advice you've been given won't help much against that fed kitty once you get to game and complaining to RIOT that they should do something to Rengar probably won't magically make RIOT do something. If you want to win, you have to figure out your team's win condition and play to make that happen. If that means building tank on an "ADC", then you build tank on your ADC. If the kitty wants to kill you that badly, you make him pay for it.
