Hi, I'm a Brand main.

Hi everyone, I'm a Brand main, and I love the new dark harvest rune! I see a lot of threads talking about its power but none that go into detail about just how insane it might be... on a support. I'd like to take a look at the past few games of mine with you :).

  • On 11/02/2018 I had a nearly completed build, was 7 kills and had 8 assists, and the rune arcane comet (which was the most common Brand rune along with Aery) helped deal 1367 damage. This game lasted 39:29. Sadly, I lost, so let's look at a win.
  • On 11/15/2018 I had a FULLY completed build, was 12 kills and had 15 assists, and the rune arcane comet helped deal 2142 damage. This game lasted 41:09 minutes.
  • Today, on 11/26/2018, I had two items and a blasting wand, was 10 kills and 10 assists, and the rune dark harvest helped deal 2685 damage. This game only lasted 26:39.

Damage - Time: 1367 - 39:29 2142 - 41:09 2685 - 26:39

On average, I am doubling my previous damage with dark harvest which allows me to snowball harder and deal even more damage as a support that already dealt nearly the most damage every game. Brand has gone up from a good 50-51% winrate to a staggering 53.12% winrate. Brand almost always gets close to the most if not the most dark harvest stacks.

I'm not going to lie and say I'm not loving this, but I think the people I face off against might feel another way. So, it hurts me to say this, but I believe my beloved main champion is too strong, and some more balancing needs to be done.

Don't flame me for playing Brand btw Brand

If they're gonna mess with Brand I hope they improve his mid laning and nerf his support power.

Mid mages have either great roaming potential, waveclear, or range. Brand lacks in most of these sadly. I still play Brand mid, but I always feel like I'm a slight disadvantage (until teamfight situations, which is his strongsuit). Also, Dark Harvest procs less in solo lanes as opposed to botlane. :-/

Brand is ok right now tbh. Brand SHOULD be able to burst people to 0 and he SHOULD top damage charts, that's just the champion. shorter range than many mages and a skillshot based enabler for your combo - your champion is fine where he is. Is that winrate for brand total? Because win rate for brand support and brand mid might shed some light.

Just for support, and thanks for supporting my main! It feels really good to play right now, but I'm still unsure about if it's the right spot for him to be in. Mid is sitting at 52%, which putting him up around 2% ish from last patch.

I mean brand is just a good, traditional mage. Counter play options, not complex abilities, high potential but difficult to pull off. Easy to pick up, hard to master. If every mage was like that league would be game of the year.

And this attitude is why I'm banning Brand any time I see a support not hovering anything on my side. Bragging about damage and kills on a supposed support... Straight up not your job.

I'm actually in the position that he is too strong, you should read the thread entirely before downvoting and... supporting my thread? Not supporting it? I'm not sure because I don't think you actually read it and I clearly state that while it's fun to play, others I play against won't feel the same way and I'd feel bad for that thus asking for Riot to rebalance the rune Dark Harvest, thus weakening my main champ. I'm literally asking for an indirect nerf to my main champ, you nutjob :).

The point is that all Brand does is damage, he has no business in the support role. And Brand players tend to think that getting tons of kills is somehow a good thing, even when 80% of those kills were ks-ed from champs they were supposed to channel the gold to. All because some dumb article a few years ago that Riot put out. The idea of Brand being viable in the support position having become widespread is the worst thing that ever happened in this game.

I actually only have a positive K/D ratio in about 50% of my games because I strive for assists more and helping my AD as much as I can. The goal of mine is to zone out the enemy botlane so my AD can get free farm while also having a good outplay potential for the AD to rack up kills (or sometimes assists). That's why Brand's support winrate is so good; he's good at what he does.

Edit: At the same time, if after helping my AD as much as I can (i.e. winning lane, allowing him to cs, etc.) but we're still losing the game and the AD isn't doing that great, Brand still has the ability to step up and act as a mage carry. So I can either support my AD exceedingly well, or I can step up and become the carry. In lower elos you may see Brand supports always try to hypercarry, but that isn't his job usually and to know how to play according to the game is what separates Brand mains. I'm still learning which is why I'm only between D4-D5, but I feel D3 and even D2 coming along soon.

"all Brand does is damage" You do know he has a stun, right?

And the inevitable smartass bringing up the 1 stun he has that he has to land a combo for... as if having a stun would make him viable as support...

There are several champions used as support that have one stun (Taric), or a root and a slow (Lux, Soraka), or just a root (Karma), or no CC at all (Nidalee)... Not everyone is Alistar.

I'm not going to explain what a support needs in his kit again. At least not now. Maybe later.

You don't have to explain it, because we know what a support needs, and we know how to effectively support. Brand support works.

Brand doing damage. Cool. What else is new?

Problem with Dark Harvest is that it became too good that literally EVERYBODY picks it in all roles.
