Quitting ADC for Top, any tips?

I've had ADC as my secondary since I've started playing this game 2 years ago. I can't stand playing ADC anymore. I love the feel of the role and some of the champions but it's not worth the frustration. I'm done relying on my team to dictate the pace of the game. So I'm done, and I've decided that I'm moving to top lane. I was hoping to get some insight from the boards on general tips involving anything from the laning phase, minion control, any champions I should look into and/or common tips to face champions who are considered "annoying" for low elo players.

I never really got into top before because I found a lot of the champions to be annoying to face. Particularly lane bullies and sometimes tanks if they get ahead.

if you think youre less team reliant on top lane, then ive got bad news for you.

it might be true for the lane phase, but not the overall outcome of the game. basically be prepared that when your bot lane feeds there is little you can do to carry the game, and no matter how you perform youre probably still going to lose.

Welcome to top! You WILL get camped, the champs you play/play against WILL take over games, ignite is much better than tp (your team might not agree but hey..), if your lane is frozen gromp wolves and krugs will be your best friend, your jungler will not respect you, your adc will beg you to peel for him/her, and if all goes well you should climb slowly with a 53-56% win rate. Once again welcome to the squad!

Go on youtube and look up "solorenektononly".

He has amazing videos to show you how to play the lane at a challenger level.

Top is where you bring BS King and enemy brings BS Lord. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

In all honesty, there's too many things to say regarding the entire lane. I could tell you more in person, but critical factors are

Top lane is the lane that's probably affected THE MOST by counterpicks.
Majority of the junglers have their jungle routes setup for a level 3 gank at top.
Prepare for a clown fiesta.

Popular champs considered "OP" or "annoying" in low elo: Camille Darius Gnar Illaoi Jayce Kennen Pantheon Renekton Riven

edit: not to say majority of these are still annoying in high tiers. nothing's op though, at least from a personal perspective. (Camille use to be.)
