Ranked ARAM

Ok I keep hearing about all these problems on trying to create a ranked ARAM. So I'm gonna give you guys at Riot a few of my thoughts and ideas on this. First thing would be set a champion limit on Ranked ARAM. Example: You would need 25 to 30 owned champions to join Ranked play, thereby keeping the randomness in ARAM. Next i think you need to remove free rotation in ranked ARAM. You already have a 1 in 25 ,or 1 in 30 chance of getting a champ you own, putting free rotation in there i feel takes away from the possability of a true ranking system in ARAM. If I join a ranked game of ARAM let say with 30 champions, this is by far not what i would call a lot of champions by the way. My point is though that you don't get to pick your champ as it is, so you are at least claiming to be damn good at all those champ. Having free rotation would remove the skill you crate with the champion pool size from the ranked side, since there would be a chance that you will get a champion you don't know how to play. This is only an idea but I almost only play ARAM and would so love to see a ranked system. I don't know what the average size of a pros champ pool is, but I'd come close to saying that each pro has 15 to 20 champs they claim mastery of in their rolls they play. Claiming to be able to hold you own out of a 30 champion random pool well that would be skill wouldn't it?

All Champions have to be available. When they are not, it will be Op-Team against Op-Team and this would take out the whole spirit of aram. Then you could also make "Howling Abyss Draft Pick". I played over 1000 ARAM-Games and i own all Champions. I can play nearly all Champions at a high level (most of them because i played them in ARAM) and that is where the Ranked-aspect for aram comes into play. It shouldn't test the skill of some champions you can play, it should test the skill to play with random champions and adapt with your team.

Also i noticed it's often not "bad champions" that loose the game, rather than Teamcomposition. You can have the most OP-Champs but will often loose because of:

  • No Heal against heavy poketeams.
  • Only AP/AD
  • No Frontline Tank/Bruiser (especially against high engage comps)

And that leads me to re-rolls. I think instead of players earning their own rerolls over time, the team should have a fix amount of rerolls and decide together which champs to roll. Simple reason: No one wants to roll the Jayce/Ezreal/Varus/insertgoodchamp, but maybe you have 2 rerolls and you could reroll the "insert bad champion" for someone else. But most players do not take the risk to trade away thier fav champion and then not getting it back. Of course the Team shouldn't be able to roll your champion without your permission. This is of course only an idea and there are probably other, maybe better solutions for it;

With Teamrerolls. Bad Champions can be rolled and much more important you can roll for good Teamcomp(Search for AD/Tank/Healer etc).

Sitenote: Having not all Champs available would lead too swapping problems. (big problem of ARAM in generaly in my opinion).

Playing all Champions at a decent level would lead to playing at a higher league/division, it's that easy. If you can only play few champions then you would play in silver probably (maybe even if you are Platin in Ranked 5v5). It's the spirit of ARAM to (sometimes) play with champions you are not experienced with (or not if you have an ARAM-Account) and get better with them.

Last note: ARAM will never be balanced, and that's fine. Sometimes you will get the OP-Team and sometimes your opponents will do.

(Hope my english isn't that bad, i didn't took the time to spellcheck. Forgive me)

I own all the champions. I'll never climb in ranked aram.

Rather than the above suggestion, it'd make much more sense to have all champs available in ranked ARAM. Having champ pools only consist of owned or even owned+free simply incentivizes making ARAM-optimized accounts. In contrast, enabling all champs allows ranked ARAM to be more random while also being a better test of players' abilities to handle a wide range of champs.

Forcing players to own X champs before participating doesn't solve the issue either. Requiring "all champs owned" is an exorbitant barrier to entry, but anything less disadvantages players who do own every champ.

Ranked is suppose to be skill-based, aram is the complete opposite, what mechanics can you show off by constantly teamfighting? It's not exactly impressive and Aram lacks depth of skill knowledge, you cant tell bronze aram player from d1 aram player.
