ARAM

I wish so bad you guy would put just a little time into making ARAM a viable game mode. I say this because I hear at least once every game from someone either on my team or on the opposing team I hear," It is just ARAM it doesn't count". Now from someone who considers themselves an ARAM player(100,000td,1500tw,1800w) This comment drives me nuts I mean if it doesn't count to you don't make me suffer a loss go back to Summoner's and.... well I will refrain from using that kind of language ,but I think you get my drift. I mean how hard would it be to allow the player to choose what stats he or she displays, because as of now all anyone sees unless they go to my profile is normal stats. I would like people to see my ARAM stats and I'd be willing to bet there are a few Dominion players that would agree as well. I Know SR is your bread and butter but not all of us play league for a ranked game on Summoners Rift. How about creating a solo rank in ARAM that takes in to account your K/D/A and average game win loss to add or subtract said number of points thus creating a ranking system. Who knows maybe with a prize for the top 10 to say 100? Just a last thought there. Anyway please consider this I would greatly appreciate it.

I totally agree and am amazed at how many people forget aram has its own tactics separate from sr. Like aram gives you the option to hug turret and not fall behind at start if your comp is weaker at the start. People seem to think thats not a strat and the comp thats strongest to start is just the strongest period.

I too am an aram player who would love a system which matched me against a player like you instead of a random assortment of all skill levels.

Thank you so much. And you are completely right I can't count how many games I have won Knowing we were gonna die a lot but late game we would smash and won. Using tactics to keep deaths low. Such as dying to a turret instead of a champ.

ARAM for life. They could delete SR and it wouldn't really bother me.

I love ARAM, I play it more than the normal game mode. Its more adrenaline filled, yet somehow more laid back (I find myself joking with my team and opponents more so than in Summoner's Rift).

Another great point I literally almost uninstalled this game. When I started Summoners was a hateful nasty place to play even in bots. Then like a week into my amazing gaming experience, lol, ARAM came along and they couldn't hide in the jungle anymore : ). I made 20 friends in the first week playing ARAM I might have made 2 in the previouse 2 weeks playing Summoners.

ActuallyArrow2 votes

I find it to be more laid back also because if you are doing terrible people complain less, since its random and most of the time it is possible to get stuck with a champ you have either never played with or do bad with. Have only had one game where a guy flamed for someone being terrible as a champ, and I've played quite a bit of ARAM.

PaleGingerAle2 votes

yes you still get your ragers still but for the most part the is a rarity anymore.

i agree with you totaly some champ are just ridiculous to play.. and Side note : lux beam on aram is the worst i dont know why her range indicator is way to large for the beam wide ... and i very very hate the camera position on purple side ( top side ) when you go down my perception of the map is soo wierd.. and the hole close the health pack close to out tower is juste useless ( right side close tower , there having like a hole and you get the space for like 2 champ.. ) ( the map is a bite too long but not enough wide..

the main reason i started playing more aram ( im now at 630+ win ) it because player sometime in some game dont try to rush in the ennemy and feed after 2-3 attempt .. BUT from now last 3-4-5 month .. many player just seen the aram like a place to feed ... Riot need to add something in aram ( like and objective or a power potion give your ally X stats or Buff for like 45 sec ( in exemple it could be 30-25-20..) to maintain the game and not only run forward , spell , run die...

how much time i have started vs poke team comp we got rek after 4-5 min... ( yes some champ need OBV a nerf on aram cause they go in one way all game advantage and that suck ( yes that suck being over power at start ) but sometime we come back because we did the good focus and the good ingage in the good moment...

i wish and pray riot could see it by the themselv but... wish you good luck :)

Thank you this was a great reply

im the only one im sure to sell is poro snack at start.... XD really half team on both side give it i never seen a complete team give it... Riot should add a bonus when you give the poro snack for 30 sec at start ( or something for the utility for having use your poro snack ) add some few little thing and few balance patch and aram mode will be better than SR

The only strategy that seems to work for ARAM is to log into it with an account that only has Lux, Ziggs, Teemo, Vel'koz and Nidalee unlocked.

PaleGingerAle1 votes

Well I have some ideas on this as well. In creating a rank system you would need to make some kind of mandatory champion pool count ,say 20. But in equality Riot should remove free rotation since it is already random, and I consider that a disadvantage. Now I am not great with 20 champions only about 4 or 5 and good with 15 to 20.

Dr Jarjarbinks1 votes

I havent ever considered removing free champs but it makes sense. IMO the minimum champ req could be justified as large as riot thinks is good for the mode. I would even understand a 100 champ minimum. I only have half those champs but I would refocus on getting more and in the end I would think it was worth it.

Dr Jarjarbinks2 votes

I won't claim those champs arent strong in aram, that would be silly. I will tell you I have watched quite a few lux ziggs teemo vel and nid fall to my WW, xin udyr etc

PaleGingerAle2 votes

My point exactally if you play smart anyone will fall on ARAM even strong champs.

And then you proceed to get rolled by a team that waits patiently and beefs out on MR to the point they just don't care about your ARAM bronze tier strat.

It doesn't count because certain champs are insanely overpowered in ARAM, so it was never a fair fight to begin with.

If you know how to play your champ with strategy it shouldn't matter but with you going with the mind set like that well yea its already over. By your logic anytime yi is on the other team I should give up. But im here to tell you Yi is just as easily beat as anyone elsein ARAM.

My team:Trundle (me)LeeSin Poppy Yasuo Kayle Their team: Lux Heimerdinger Garen Varus Aatrox

We were stuck under turret for 15 straight minutes and where constantly barraged by skillshots with no way to respond. Once one of us was low enough they would send Garen or Aatrox to dive in and kill us, then get out. We could never all in them because we were constantly at half health due to the insane harass we were taking under turret.

No one was having fun, even the other team said in /allchat that they were not having fun and that they felt sorry for us. In the end our entire team agreed to just run circles around the nexus because no one wanted to wait 20 minutes to end the game.

You played poorly. Skillshots take either skill to hit or a lack of skill to keep eating. You got no MR, no health and no Armor. You're bruisers. Your time to shine begins later. If Aatrox runs in, Poppy should slam him against a turret or use your wall to either waste his flash or change his escape walk route.

Again, bruisers are late game shiners. You might not believe me, but I don't think you're the kind of player who I want to play with on my way up to ARAM plat.

I knew we had late game superiority. Problem is we had no farm and no kills so we couldn't buy much in the way of items, and no one wants to wait 30 minutes before they can do anything. And who's to say we would have lasted 30 minutes? They took out turret before we gave up, doubt we would have lasted much longer. And skillshots are pretty easy to land when your targets are huddled in front of the turret.

Exactally He is so right You played poorly On a ood team you should have destroyed em late game

If ARAM were done properly (unlock full pool for all players, punish dodging as a full loss of elo/mmr to prevent scumming), then the innate imbalance of individual champions would instead become a point OF balance for the mode. Over a large number of games, you would be with and against each one the same number of times, leaving skill as the only deciding factor for your elo/mmr.

As for OP, I fully support pseudo-rank rewards for all maps. If they want to keep actual elo/mmr hidden, fine. They can still create tiers based around elo/mmr percentile, and let us know which one we're in, with bordered rewards at season end.

Top 2.5% of MMR: Diamond Top 10%: Platinum Top 33%: Gold Top 80%: Silver

Borders would be marked with a crystal for Dominion, and a snowflake for ARAM.

Players could select which map they want displayed as their border/stats, or choose to display none at all. Earning a gold border or above would also qualify you for season rewards like victorious skins, no matter which map you mained to do it.

As a Dominion player, this would bring me back to the game.

Oh, also TT should replace its ranked teams queue with a soloq, but that's another issue entirely.

PaleGingerAle1 votes

I wish they would listen to you. And to further your point, ARAM and dominion are being left out of champion masterys. Who deserves more the points you get for a champ the one who plays a champ he doesn't know that well and learns to play or the player that plays the same 4 champs ove and over again?

Avorok1 votes

Not diss'n ARAM, I do like playing it a few times before I play any other gamemode, but to be literal, ARAM doesn't matter. It's more practice with champs you may have not played or to try new builds, or for some, just to troll and not play seriously. I posted a while ago about my wins being about 200 off, since I have about 200 wins in aram, and my total was like 970. When I counted all my wins together, SR, DOM, and ARAM it was about 1100 or something like that. ARAM doesn't count towards your actual total wins, so that maybe the reason why people don't take it as serious.

Just my two cents.

Dessim81 votes

No... Avorok, just... no. If you want to play to troll in ARAM, you should be punished like everyone else who trolls anywhere. It's like saying it doesn't matter that you don't pay taxes on some things because you don't feel like they matter or interest you. Go ahead and keep telling the IRS you feel that way you tax evader.

ARAM does have an ELO, the problem is, it's hidden. If it were not hidden, people might start to wise up and try to win to rise the ladder.

Also, to everyone so scared of poke... dodge the skillshots. The longer the game goes, the better fighters become. I mean it. I would dig up the posts on strat from the old ARAMs boards if I could find them.

PaleGingerAle1 votes

How do you practice with a champ you didn't even know you wrer getting?

Avorok1 votes

One, here's a trampoline, for jumping to conclusions. Two, I was talking about people who don't care for it, and it seems you just picked things out and replied to it, instead of the comment as a whole. Like I said, since it doesn't count towards your "actual total wins" , That is probably why people don't take it seriously, or just troll the game. So yea, it has and ELO and ARAM builds. So does every other mode. But it isn't taken as seriously as the big SR stuff. Your example cannot be used in this situation because, you are forced to pay taxes, if not, then actions are taken against you. Since ARAM doesn't have repercussions as serious, then people don't care, or just don't see the game mode as serious. I'm sure if there wasn't super bad repercussions for not paying your taxes, people wouldn't take as serious either. Don't tell me no, that does nothing, what are you even No-ing me for. I gave you my opinion on why people might not take this seriously, or troll.

There's a few things they could do to help bring ARAM closer to balanced.

  1. Everyone has all the champions unlocked. No more ARAM-only accounts that have just the stronger ARAM champions unlocked.

  2. HP itemization needs to be fixed. Right now, the item that grants the most raw HP by far is a item 3022. Chances are, if you're playing as a champion that scales off of HP, you don't want to rush one of those. I don't see why item 3083 couldn't be modified for the game mode instead of just being banned from it.

  3. item 2051 isn't a bad item, but since it doesn't build into anything and is pretty expensive, you might as well grab item 1054 item 1001 item 1033 instead and have most of those build into something (as well as not having to manage an active). Maybe have it build into a item 3800?

  4. summoner 31 made a great many lower tier ARAM champs a lot more fun to play as. Slightly modified, it could be a permanent ARAM-only summoner spell.
