Solution for ragequit and afk that never return to the match--mid game replacement queue

Troxic··2 votes·487 views

There should be a separate mid game queue to take over a champion that has AFKed. The win and loss of LP would have to be adjusted probably for this player, but basically, if you have the same champion (or, maybe even if you don't?), while you are in queue, a game will pop up and give you a good amount of time to decide, like 30 seconds. It will tell you how long the player who's role you are taking over has been AFK, how far into the match the game is, the levels of all champions and the score, drakes and turrets etc. You would have to play the champion they chose, with the runes they choose and summoner spells.

By the very nature of this, you would usually be a disadvantage if you are taking over a role where it has been 4v5 for say, 5-10 minutes. Therefore, there should be a reduction in LP lost if you lose the match, but still be able to win the same LP. This makes it a risk that a player can choose to take.

This serves a big function: All is not lost when a teammate AFKS! I would say that the option to fill the role should occur 5 minutes after a player AFKs. If they try to come back after that, they can't and they take a loss.

The only downside to this is that players might AFK MORE, because now they don't feel bad that they are bailing on their team...but I think most players in ranked generally don't want to take the hit for an AFK

I think it is a cool idea. But Riot and Riot lovers don't think AFKs are a problem, when they clearly are.

Riot has no idea what they are doing half of the time. They only succeed because gamers are forgiving and have addiction personalities.

That is a horrible idea for a multitude of reasons:

  1. It would require the whole game with the 9 people in it to be Paused, elegidly freeze the game until the AFK'd Player was filled in.

  2. It would only intensify AFK for trolling because the waittime, and with it the resulting rage for the others, will be significantly higher.

  3. League of legends is not a fast paced game where These Systems can work out for everyone's interest. This idea, i assume, you took straight from the Lobby fill from CoD. The difference is, there games do not last longer than a certain short amount of time, a max. standart of 5 minutes. League games are a MINIMUM of 3x the duration, and on average 6x.

Long story short, people will no way have the necessary patience and nerves to support this system on the long run.

  1. Why would it freeze the game. When the new player takes over, he takes over the champion sitting in base. WTF are you even talking about

2)What do you even mean? Try writing a sentence that makes any god damn sense

3)I have never played call of duty, as I am not a fucking loser.

Long story short, it can be seamlessly be integrated into ranked play.

So, let me get this straight.

You want to suggest an idea, but are not ready to hear the cons and possibilities as to why it is not possible?

  1. The reason it would require to pause the game is because it would otherwise just be the same afk situation we now know. just half a minute afk can and likely will lose the game, so in order for this "Replacement queue" to work with the intention of AVOIDING a 4v5 scenario, the game will be require to essentially be paused. Otherwise you literally change nothing.

  2. that sentence made perfect sense, maybe up your vocab game if you are incapable of understanding my intellect. Ok, rephrasing it for dummies: The more replacements happen, the more you can have consequent afk situations. one Person disconnecting is enough, we don't Need 10 in a single game.

  3. Seeing as CoD and battlefield Multiplayer are the only MMO Systems that have this replacement Systems for pvp inplace, it can be only from there.

Small advice, just because it is your idea doesn't make it a flawless godsent gift. While i can see where you wanna lead with this, it will not fit into league of legends whatsoever. maybe for other Shorter-paced games like HotS which's games by standart take half of LoL's time.

  1. if its 4v5, the team is ALREADY WANTING TO AVOID A 4v5 fight. Thus you have no point, again.

2)Possible, but easily addressed if the punishement for AFKing in match is severe enough. People still care about THEIR LP in ranked, so people aren't just going up and AFK all the time suddenly.

3)Haha I never played those games. I came up with this concept in my head. Some of use actually are creative.

Small advice: Don't give small advice.

1 and 2 are wrong. In his system, someone is loading into the game as the other people are still playing. It is 'reconnecting' someone else who just joins super late.

The fact that League games last LONG imo means we need some form of AFK protection. An AFK in a short game, at least you cna move on quickly. An AFK in a long game can be a brutal 10-20minutes until you lose, or open/forfeit.

Eternal Torment1 votes

the issue is, regardless of the system implemented or not, people will still afk for the kicks of trolling, and i would by all means not be surprised if the rejoins would leave again because they do not like the game.

it is the same lobbyfilter logic people use in shooter mmos. If they join a game they dont like, they leave it as fast as they found it.

Noone will willingly wanna join a game thats quite likely lost.

i agree. But don't call him stupid/make fun of him for not reading, when you yourself didn't read or understand his full post.

I think there are better ways to make AFK feel less bad. But attacking OP is not great, even if you were trying to give valid feedback.

Eternal Torment1 votes

Oh i did not make fun of him at all.

he pulled an very stereotypical "what do you mean? i dont understand it so it is automatically nonsense" flag on my comment. if i respond saying how that course of action is hypocritical considering it is a comment in a post asking for comments then you can see it offensive if you want.

If i wanted to attack him, people would have very much felt it. If saying "you can't just shake off what others say because they disagree with you" is an attack then i dont know where humanity is headed, and i dont wanna know.

As for the topic at hand. The Problem with AFK is that there is no way to stop it at all. you can merely milden the issue but ragequits in any form or way will always exist, side by side with disconnections and gamecrashes. it is just an unlucky factor to consider and the only Thing you can really do about it is try to secure the least possible losses when These cases occur.

Riot did that with the Remake option and an FF15, but there isn't really a way to implement even more without in some form or way indirectly shaming the community as too sensitive. and aside from that, there are factors to be counted such as requirements to meet, situations to process this Feature into etc etc.

Long story short, league as of right now, as in today, does not have much options to reduce afk without causing long term consequences for the playerbase. we just gotta live with it until we actually can find a solution that can be worked into without upsetting the entablished order too much.

MysterQ1 votes

Yes, so I think we should instead focus on making AFK feel 'less bad' which can be done but most people will just say Nope not needed/abusable. But in the end, we are playing for fun. Let abusers abuse it and get caught. Let everyone else have fun.

Crystalysk1 votes

If someone ragequits it most likely means the team he left is losing, so i think nobody would like to join a team that is most likely going to make him lose lp faster than a regular game.

Read my post again and try to form a better reply.

I respect your idea and the fact that you share it here, but in the end i just think it makes no sense.

Even if you know what champion and few other things about the game you will not know why the player ragequitted nor the chat history (most of the times people go afk because they have been flamed by teammates) and i honestly wouldn't jump in to a game like that. Not to mention that if someone ragequits most of the times is because the game is compromised. Nobody would queue for something that in the long term would cause them to lose more lp, high risk low reward.

Plus like you said already, this change will make people ragequit more because they will think they are allowed to do it since there is this separate queue.

Just my 2 cents, you can agree or disagree and i don't care.

Troxic1 votes

But you will have an idea. You will get to see the CS, the kills and objectives of the current game before you decide to RISK taking over the match, which will reward LP, but only minimally cost LP if you lose. No one is forcing anyone to join these matches. Its a risk a player can choose to take.
